Island Dollars Disappearing

I started the Island a few days ago and now my Island dollars are disappearing!
I sold all of the drinks that were prepared and none of the money went into my Island account.
I even sold all of my peacocks. My Island cash was getting low. Well, the sale went through and I have no peacocks.
But I also have no Island dollars now.
What is going on with my farm?

I have lost blue diamonds, 23 Wheel of Fortune tokens, and now this. Are all players this unlucky?

I forgot to say that I also did an exchange to get some more Island dollars before I sold stuff.
All of those dollars disappeared too -- around $40,000 or so.

Selling drinks gives you seashells, not island dollars.

You can only get island dollars from the bank conversion, and as rewards sometimes from the side tasks.

Everything you DO on the island though, planting, feeding peacocks, running the windmill, buying land, those cost island dollars (and it can be *expensive* if you don't have high happiness), so the island dollars disappear pretty fast.

You're only level 38, someone in your Co-Op should have warned you to not even *look* at the Island until you're making a profit on your farms of at least $4-$5 million per day, or have at least $100 Million in the bank that you're willing to spend on the island farm - cuz it's expensive.

Southern, I figured out the seashell 'payment' this morning. DUH.  I checked and saw that the shells have accumulated, so I had a pile of shells.
But payment in shells really changes the hopeful outcome for me. I fish via Oleg and the Fishing region and can make a fair amount to keep me doing upgrades and buying parcels with farm dollars. But it is already evident that the Island farm is too expensive. I did use my seashells on some regular seeds and I'll continue to do that. But I won't grow the Island any more, I will just work with what I've got.
Thanks for taking the time to explain the island to me.

@Louisa (US1) Your now going to find you will be forced to do the temp farms from this point on. One of the biggest draw backs in the game. Once you start a temp farm the boat that comes into your flower farm will be asking for those special fruits that only come from doing the temp farms, or leave the boat unfinished to leave the 6 hours later.
Take a few minutes to bookmark/save to favorites crazy's site.

     https://www.crazybigfarm.tk/

Then take at look at the all the temp farms so you can figure out what you can do as a minimum on them to get your self enough special fruit seeds to be able to continue to load your boat in a timely fashion.

Fruit seeds are also available in the Supply Boxes at the Jetty on the co-op Village.
If you don't start the next temp farm, the Boat will continue to ask for Island fruit
  • stop telling ppl they need to be high lvl i unlocked fishing region at lvl 14 so its not hard to start temp farm at 30
maybe they cant go up in ranks but thos event point for WWC good and they can make tools for tractor faster with temp farm currencey

    @harvestmoonn (INT1)
The fishing region is awesome and should opened as soon as possible by players.
But the temp farm still should be avoided til one is able to cover the costs of being able to do a minimum on them to earn enough currency to get enough special seeds to last one til the next temp farm starts.
It will be easier now for folks to do the temp farms having their own "Free" building spot to use as we see fit, but that does mean they will be any cheaper to do than they are now. Most players will not be able to afford to do a complete temp farm until they pretty much have most of their Flower farm built up to the point where they can make honey cream on a regular bases as well as their fishing region.
  • for seed i hardly manage to use seed i get from village boat its very rare that i need to buy them and village boat are cheap if coop are small and boat is lvl 1

I agree that lower level players should not open the temp farms for all the reasons listed. All the time, money, and resources needed would be much better spent building up their farms.

I don't play with gold -- never have spent a dime here, nor will I. I started on July 21. Using farm dollars, I am doing fine, to be honest. I just hit Level 43, bought a parcel at my mf, gf, and ff. I have been 'churning' basics at the Island farm and it's returning plenty of shells so that I can buy some of the offered seeds every day. I can't grow the Island like gold-players do, but that's the cost of playing Big Farm without using real money.

I don't have an issue with the orders for special products at the dock. I can't always fill it entirely, but how many players under Level 75 can do that daily?

I grow the special products in the greenhouse all the time. Generally, I get my seeds from the Village jetty. I grow side crops to donate daily and earn some extra goodies that way.

Like everything else in this game, inter-connectedness makes the game run smoothly, so I won't ignore one farm simply because I'm at a lower level. I am building on each farm.

I bought my first boats when I was at Level 22. The fishing region & Oleg provide the best return of dollars & time spent.  I am the #1 WWC player in my rank and have held the top spot with a significant lead for the entire game. The WWC points come from all farms and events, so it's to my benefit to play the Island farm.

Dont have more than a couple of hundred of each greenhouse-plants in your inventory ...  if you have more the captain will ask for more.

And unfortunately you get a lot of exp-points when you fill out the orders  ... but it does give good wwc-points ;-)

@BlueZilver (GB1)  Is that "more" regardless of the arrows at the side that let you reduce his request ?

(edit)  Nice     ... never seen those arrows before  ... but its exactly those numbers ;-)   ty  Uncle John :)

Didn't know that, so thanks for the tidbit. Always something new to find out w/ this game. lol

I was closely watching how the WWC points were adding up and where they came from with the different farm areas. I did get 1st place, so I won the Grand House (and about a week's worth of the half-time booster). It was to my advantage to work at every farm area and since I had boats and started the Island, those points really added up.

Now the Island isn't terribly expensive and I'm simply churning a few activities. I still have about 140K shells to 'spend' but don't have loads of any greenhouse product at this point. Thanks again.

I keep roughly 85-100K of each greenhouse plant, and the captain has never asked for more. Like Uncle John, I make handy use of the arrows that allow you to reduce how much he asks for.

Even though you're low-lv ... you should be able to get dollars enough to spend on island-farm ...  renting the boat on FF can give you a lot of dollars if you're able to send it out often. Dont pay to much attension to the price it cost to send it out ... you earn more when you sell the fish you catch.

If you have the time ... use only lv 1 fields on island and plant 'fast crops' in this case oranges when you're online and grapes when you go off-line ... this way you should get more wwc-points. If you earn more wwc-points developing island-farm i havent figured out.

And as low-lv you get 3 daily task which should be rather easy to fullfill to earn extra island-dollars.

Since you already have boats (lucky you ... not many figure out that you can open fishing area as lv 14 as harvestmoonn mension)  ... you also should be able to make a lot of dollars ... maybe @harvestmoonn (INT1)  can remember how it was done ... because i have forgot what i did when i had small boats.

Blue, I toggle between making oranges and growing peanuts to mill for the peacocks.
Next time, I may try only oranges and grapes and see how that works -- maybe it is better.

Yes, Oleg is one of my money makers. When he can't fish, I will sometimes use the other option that gives me Fishing XPs.
Fishing is the best money maker, imo. I have just about maxed out my fleet which is almost exclusively the Runabouts at this point. Frustrating to only catch such small quantities, but it's better than not fishing!

I only grow oranges for the orange fizzies and keep it at a low level the whole time.  After a few days, I win enough money to keep going until the end. I don't buy gold.

@Louisa (US1) , you could run a bare-bones temp farm, works on Tropical and Viking to get youself some seeds for the Harbor ship.

unlocking that 150 happiness deco are cheaper than making palm tree
its always at that spot in viking or island farm and you dont need to clean it to get happiness from deco the moment you buy that spot you get its happiness

You are so right @harvestmoonn (INT1), that's a very good ideal. I shall go right now and re-work those templates to to reach that 150 hp deco on both farms because a small palm tree only gives 50.

Thank you and have a grate day :)

also that new task that give 100 seaweed humus are great easy 10 mil seashell if they dont change it for next run
    and thank you too

  • my eyes are glazed over trying to find answers to my island question, so I will just put it here.  Thanks to anyone who can give me a proper answer.

Do I lose all supplies that I have when the monsoon hits? IE: seeds, peacocks, lemurs, oranges, bananas, humus, etc.
Seems like they should be carried over to the next island farm arrival.

    Thanks!!

you start each temp farm from scratch each time. Best to sell things rather than let the game do it for you

if you can play to the end i would suggest NOT demolishing. except for the special decorations at the very end. nothing else is worth demolishing. when you click on a building then hover over the bulldozer you can see how many shells it is worth. so i highly suggest you look at that number your self. then see how much for instance mango's you get from a harvest then see how many shells those are worth. for example i get 375 mangos in 1 harvest and they are worth 100 shells each so that is 375x100=37,500 but demolishing it only gives 10,500.

You and I are on the same page. :)

And remember, you still get 50% of the value of the building if the game demolishes it; so in your example of demolishing the orchard giving you 10,500, you'd still get 5,250 even if you DON'T demolish it yourself and just let the game do it. I produce on everything until the last possible minute. I might demolish some of the big decos if I have a surplus of Island Dollars, but that's about it.

Just remember to sell off everything left in inventory about an hour before the island ends, or the game will only give you 50% of THAT value as well. I usually sell off everything the last day, leaving just enough to keep me producing for 24 hours (mangos, oranges, coconuts, bananas, peanuts, grapes), then sell off *everything* in the last 10 minutes or so.

i did not know that i always wondered but could not figure it out for sure. i make sure i build and demolish any decration from the wheel it takes like  min to build and 1 to demolish and gives like 2,500 and the other one is 25,000 so i think it is worth it and the big one is 24k. and i try to have the least amount of dollars left i can.
  • i dont know about new seed and seaweed they add for temp farm but for other item and left over island dollar you lose them and recive seashell for fruit/ field/ stable/ beach bar/ prodoced mats you recive seashell when its end but no seashell for feed/ fretlizer/ humus/ dugn / leaf
