No snow?

I've been waiting for that nice white snowy background before putting up all my snowy deco's but it's not happening.    Are we not doing it this year?  Christmas is only a week away.  Hardly worth moving everything around now to put up trees and such.   Not to mention my snowy background.

What happened?   Warm winter?  El Nino?  Programmers lazy?

    It was announced some time ago that the snow wouldn't be returning as it negatively impacted some with brightness sensitivity.

    I just made sure to have large, colorful, decorations in the areas that were too white.

    Squeaky wheel gets the grease, I guess.

    Merry Christmas!

    That is the most insensitive comment one could make regarding those who had problems with the brightness of the snow.  All they needed to do was make it so that we could turn it off at will if we wanted to, that was asked for after all.  They couldn't do that this year, but they are working on it.  I'd like you to try just once, just about going blind, and see how that snow affects you when you look at the screen, at the lowest resolution you could put it on.  I still can't go outside without the darkest sunglasses available, or even look out my windows.  I am not the only player who had problems with the brightness of the snow here.  Have some compassion please.

    And last year, when they tried to tone it down by making it patchy, I did the same thing with the brown spots. :)  Another person who has brightness issues said it didn't bother her as most of her farm was built up, and she zoomed in to avoid the area outside her farm.
  • Well I for one hated the snow, Why not have it in June/July when there is snow here?  Middle of summer here not much chance of snow.  But as always who cares about AU server?

    Global warming/climate change to blame.........soon there will be no water on our farms and the grass will no longer be green.

    I am sorry that it bothered others who have a hard time with brightness, I for one am glad it is gone, cause I do not like the snow , it is pretty to look at yes, but that is bout it for Me, I am not a snow bunny of any kind nope, :)

    No snow?  Wish I could do that in reality.  Darn.

    Now... don't you people with sensitivity know how to turn it down ON YOUR OWN COMPUTERS?????
    I'm SURE all computers can do this or is this just a mac thing?   I have two buttons on my keyboard.  Little sunshine icons.  Brightness up and down.   Sometimes I turn it down late at night when it's dark in here.
    Point is, your computer IS adjustable.  I know you can on any PC though it might not be as easy to find.

    Oh well, no big deal really.   I won't be on much through the holidays so this year not even putting up my holiday decos.  I'll consider my farm in an el nino year.   lol. Now if only I could do that in Michigan from Jan through March.  (when I usually have to dig DOWN to FIND my car.)

    @artmaker  Do you know how to read?  Or do you just like to pick at people?  I think we all know how to turn the resolution of our computers down, thanks for asking though.

    I'm being flagged left and right, lol.  Seems I really don't care right now though.  I don't understand why you were flagged though.  Suzy!

    I thought this was a very valid comment Gizmo, especially as much of Australia is in severe drought at the moment.  We don't all get snow in December if at all.

    Wow.  Should I reply in as condescending a way as you just did?   Then I see something got edited, and other comments back and forth about flagging.... (not me, I don't leave anonymous flags, I deal with people directly. Hopefully work it out and move on.  Or not and move on.)
    THEN I looked at who you are.    OH.   I seem to remember you having issues with me and several other people in the past.   Get a grip.  This is just a game here.   Fun ya know?  We are all here to have fun.

    As for your eye issue.... where to begin.  So YOU have eye issues.  Do you think ANY on line, world wide no less, web site designers are going to cater to YOU and YOUR EYES?   I sure don't see them worrying about someone with color blindness, or any number of other possible issues.  That's up to you to adjust.
    Now was the snow background rather shocking when it first launches?  SURE.   I actually remember thinking how dark my farm suddenly looks when it goes away.   Clearly they got enough complaints to do away with it.
    Which is fine.  Except all my snowy winter deco pieces look silly now, but again, this is JUST a game.  Not the end of the world.  NOT a cause to get snippy with people who simply asked a question about this game either.

    As for your personal eye issue, help me understand something here.  MOST websites, MOST GOOD websites that is, use black text on a white background.  LIKE RIGHT HERE for example.   How in blazes do you handle that?  White on a computer is white.  The snow on this game is no whiter than the white on this very page.
    You must be in agony.  Perhaps you should turn the computer off and go read a book.   OH WAIT.... might have to find one with tinted pages.

    Aw now see?  You made me mad.  I have zero tolerance for snippy snarky people.
    And on that note, I'm done with this thread.  I got my answer, didn't have to be so nasty but some people just are.  So be it.  I'm done.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    GG... this could so easily be fixed by giving US the ability to change our farms look a little more.  You did that already with the background painting lady.   How about the ground cover too?   Some people may not ever get snow.  Let US decide to have it or not.   Make everyone happy.
    Well... in Suzy Qs case I doubt she will EVER be happy.
  • i personally think this is getting heated. I understand @SuzyQ22 (US1) point of view, i have never really seen the snow but from what i heard it's really bright and even for people who don't have eye trouble it would be an eyesore, litterally.
    Also @Artmaker (GB1) has a point too, most games will not cater to the minority of the players and will appeal to the majority and it's just a game.
    that being said i think both of you have very good points and please stop being angry at each other and let's keep this thread friendly :)
    Gee so sorry my problems are different than yours, SuzyQ22.
    Should I perhaps insult you, as it is my turn?
    Not playing that game, it isn't the one I'm here to play.
    Please fight with someone else, thank you.
    Your most certainly right forest...
    So... how about something to lighten EVERYONES mood.
    This is a very old internet joke that's been around for years.  But wow... it's funny.
    I have to read it at least once every winter.
    Those of you who live with snow (feet of the slop) every single winter can identify.
    Enjoy and Merry Christmas
    OH and by the way,  if snow on a computer screen hurts your eyes, well... I have to see an eye doctor every 6 months.  Get dilated, then drive home.  ON a sunny showy day?  Now THAT hurts.  I usually put their disposable sun glasses on over my own and still have to squint.
    THIS is a very typical winter here in beautiful Michigan
    I was a bit grumpy on my last post.
    Sorry about that.
    Took a pain pill.
    I took my computer in to a nice young man at Best Buy when it was too bright and the controls I could access didn't do enough. Not sure what he did, but he fixed it right up.
    You might try that, if you haven't.
    What I don't think either one of you understand is that the snow was a major problem long before I came along to this game.  Apparently there were numerous complaints about the snow being too bright, so they tried to tone it down by making it patchy instead of a nice covering.  So, my complaint goes along with everyone else's complaints.  They certainly are not catering to me personally, but to all those who complained about the snow being too bright for their eyes, even those who have no eye problems.  I don't have problems with other games online, only BF and their snow.  I am playing another game that has snow falling, some accumulating on buildings and there is no issue with the brightness of the snow on that game.  I can look at it as long as I want to.  Not BF though, way too bright to look at without instant pain, and headaches.
    The way you describe going to the eye doctor, getting dilated, and driving home in the bright snow with sunglasses, even with theirs on top of yours, is exactly how the snow on this game affects my eyes.
    @GrammaLeah (US1)   I have my computer as far down as it will go in both resolution and brightness as it can go to play this game.  I have no problems until they added the snow last winter, the patchy snow.  I tried adding the landscapes at the top of the screen and it is too bright as well.  I might as well be standing on a snow covered mountain with the sun shining brightly while looking at my upper area of my farm and having the snow landscape at the top.  I had to remove it.
    How very odd.
    If other sites can have snow I wonder why there was a problem on here.  Perhaps they don't use such white snow.
    Is the farm better for you this year without the snow?
    Yes, I have no issue with BF without snow on it.  I have been playing about 16 months or so and last year when they put the snow on I suffered the entire snowy winter.  I posted about it, "Thank God The Snow Is Gone".  I detailed what it did to me while looking at the screen.  It was a very long hard winter.  When you log in now and you see the snowy background picture?   That sun shining down into the snow?  That is too bright for me to look at.  It is like the sun is really shining on the snow.  Thanks for asking.  Suzy!
    I hated the snow scene too...even with special glasses my damaged eyes can't tolerate the brightness even with my screen brightness set to low 20%. Nice not to have the pain & injury. I think it should be an optional choice like your farm scenes and where ever you are you can adjust it to your season if you want it. Don't charge some ridiculous amount to haver that view either!
  • I miss the snow. :/:/:/:/:/:/
  • I don't miss the snow, If I did I would only have to look out the window!
    That would be nice, but this year we are getting hail instead of snow for some reason.
