A member in our co-op has only ever used Safari and she'd rather not learn a new browser if she dosen't need to.

Do you mean the deorations that go on the candy farm alone, if so I will add that information for all temp farms.

OH thanks for that link.   I tested my version of safari and got this.
    YOUR BROWSER SCORES 343

HOWEVER.... back when GG had that bar on top of the farm to switch, it would never load.  Just a never ending beachball spinning away.   I even left, had lunch, came back, still spinning.

    Firefox gave me this.

    446 out of 555 points

(As if I knew what that means.)
Again, tested it back when that bar was on the farm and it did not work with firefox either.

    BUT maybe they tweaked it?
Guess it will be a wait and see.

I do realize this has to be done.  Flash is set to officially die by 2020.  (Long overdue.)
But I'm not ready to upgrade (meaning downgrade) my browser which I know will ruin a lot of stuff I use.
(Damn apple anyway.   Shakes fist at puter.)

I currently use the stand alone Flash Player.
Will this mean I can't any more?

@rhon (GB1) The stand alone Flash player will work for as long as both systems are available, but once we stop using Flash completely you will need to switch back to a browser & Adobe plans to kill Flash off by the end of 2020.  We are not 100% sure that you will get a "switch" button on the standalone player, so if you want to try out the HTML5 once it is available, you would most likely need to login directly from your browser & switch manually back to your Flash player if/when you want to.

    @ Everyone

The HTML5 version or the game will work on any browser that supports HTML5, Opera for example is based on Chrome and so will support HTML5, but we don't develop or test specifically for other browsers not listed on the announcement. -  The "Switch" button will most likely appear for Opera users at the same time as Chrome users (on the 10th).

It is not mentioned in the announcement.

Will I still be able to use my opera browser when the game switches over to HTML5?

You need to check with the browser's mfgr to see if it supports HTML5.

From a technical standpoint, Opera is Chrome. So yes, it will work.

I too wanted to ask about the stand-alone Adobe Flash player.
I use it, and have been for the last 18 months. I really like it.!

Today, I tried loading and playing BF in Chrome and then also Edge (I am using windows 10).
I have not used a normal browser to play BF for the last 18 months becaus the Adobe flash player was better.

Both browsers are nothing on the stand-alone Adobe flash player! Both were much slower to load the game, both were slower to react when playing, and when using Chrome, BF freezes after not actively playing for an amount of time.

If the stand-alone Adobe flash player will be around until 2020, can I use it til then?
I do not want to change to a different browser unless the lagg is better or it loads quicker! Currently, the browsers are worse, will it be different with HTML5??

What does HTML5 change; will it still freeze in Chrome? Will it still take longer to load than flash?
Will the game experience be better with HTML5?

HTML5 is much faster than Flash, modern websites (most of them) are written in HTML5. HTML is what always have been used by all browsers. This forum is written in the same language. The 5 at the end came to be when they were able to expand regular HTML and suddenly you can make games with this language, etc. Just gives a lot more capabilities.

So technically speaking as long as the game written and optimized correctly it will be much faster than Flash. Flash tends to overtime consume memory on your computer and so as the time progresses it becomes slower, this doesn't happen with HTML5. It also doesn't have the same security issues as Flash.

You shouldn't have a problem playing the game written in the same language as other websites you visit.

On the mobile, you will no longer need a Puffin browser. Any browser should work just fine.

Hi all! So this is a bit of a complex topic but let me see if I can clear a couple things up.

Right now, as I type this message, the HTML5 version of the game is active. It is active on all HTML5 capable browsers available for desktop except for Google Chrome (specifically versions 69 + 70). This means that players with a Chrome version lower than that, for example 68, will have access to HTML5 via Chrome.

We recommended some browsers; Chrome, Edge and Firefox. While the game will work on other browsers we don't recommend using them simply because we haven't tested anything on them specifically. We have targeted the three most popular browsers and this has always been the case for Big Farm. So, the game may work fine on more browsers than mentioned but we can't guarantee there will be no issues directly related to those browsers and likely won't fix issues directly related to those browsers.

@CrazyBigfarm55 (US1) Your friend will likely be able to use Safari but we really recommend upgrading to the ones we mention.

As for mobile devices, you likely won't be able to play on those either with the new version. While HTML5 is capable of running on mobile devices we found in our testing that performance was not as we expected so it's most likely mobile devices are not your best choice.

Please also note, the Flash version is still active! Please be sure when giving feedback to make sure you are on the HTML5 version and not the Flash version ;)
