This new "FAIR" to me is the biggest pile of complicated rubbish money grabbing rubbish I have ever seen are you trying to beat Zyngar on taking peoples money for nothing please get rid of it NOW

Complicated?  Yes, but then I like that
Money Grabbing ?  We've spent very little on it and even that was not essential
Rubbish ?   That's a bit harsh but they do need to fix the lag. It's definitely better than yet another CC

I am also experiencing a terrible lag in the game.
But I am here to report a curious thing. I am 99% sure that I started a 13 minute challenge in the morning, & then had to go away about 10 minutes into it. When I logged in in the afternoon, an hour ago, I saw it is showing a 13 hour challenge, with the same products. Did the short challenge got converted in a long one, or what ? I may have made a mistake, but I am pretty sure I did not.

After playing about 5 (30-minute) challenges, I think I've got most of the main mechanics figured out.

In a nutshell, the Village Fair seems to be a combination of a CC and a "Co-Op Wide Mission" - that is to say, each challenge doesn't need to be "Won" or "Finished" in order to gain "Challenge Points", but if you DO complete the challenge, you gain a multiplier to the number of challenge points you receive.

Your personal challenge points, for the hard work rewards, do add up from one challenge to another, but one striking difference between the VF and a CC is that all the rewards are personal rewards. If you don't contribute to a challenge, you get no rewards (except perhaps for the Co-Op Rank rewards at the end of the event, which is currently a deco for the Rank 1 Co-Op in each division); this is strikingly different than a CC, where you get all the (hard work) rewards whether you participate or not.  I kinda like this change, although I'm not sure I like the 50th reward being over 400,000 personal challenge points. Time will tell how difficult that is to achieve.

The Challenge Support Rewards can be won for every challenge you do, unless you repeat the same challenge twice. So you could do 20 different challenges, and win (20) bags of "10 speedy fertilizer" (for a total of 200 fertilizer).  That bit was a little confusing in the video, so thought I'd point that out specifically.

Boosters appear to only affect the number of challenge points you receive, it's not a bonus to production. Just FYI.

As you can see from the 2nd graphic (the "Challenge Ended!" one), the Co-Op overall earned 2,858 points from that challenge. My personal contribution is listed in the 1st graphic, 1,372 points.  That amount (1,372) is added to my "Personal Hard Work Reward" total, and I'm currently working on Reward #18 of 50. Also picked up another 10 Speedy Fertilizer.. Woooooo. (*twirls finger*) So that's how points are collected for both personal & Co-Op overall - remind anyone of missions? Except it's a mission that the entire Co-Op can participate in, and there's no "Winner" or "Losers" - just collect the most points you can and they all add up in the end.

Since we only completed 50% of the challenge, we only received a 50% "Bonus" to the base score - 1865+40=1905, and 1905*50% bonus = 953 points. So that's where the 953 came from. You get a 25% bonus (to the base score) for each of the 4 items to be harvested in the challenge.  You also get ANOTHER 100% Bonus if you complete all 4 items - for a total of up to a 3X Bonus to the base score. Had we completed the challenge 100%, the bonus would have been 1905 (base score) + 1905 (4x25% bonus for each of the four items) + 1905 (100% completion bonus), for a Co-Op total of 5,715 points. (Thanks to Lylu for the clarification on that one!)   So while it's worthwhile to complete each challenge 100%, it's not really *necessary*. Even completing a challenge to the 75% point will give you a good bonus to the base score.

Another clarification from Lylu - the "Boosters" that are bought are always Co-Op wide; there are no "Personal" boosters.  If you spend 100 gold from your own funds to buy *cough* 1 minute *cough* of booster time, they apply to the Co-Op in the same manner as buying a Booster using Co-Op gold; the only difference is who pays for it.

The more I play each challenge, the more I (overall) like the event.  The only thing I would change would be to remove items from the challenges that take more time to harvest than the length of the challenge (such as Cabbage, Wheat, Apples, or Cow Feed). There's a reason we don't have Wheat, Cabbage & Apple missions, and the same should apply here.

You started a 13-hour challenge. There's no such thing as a 13-minute challenge, the *smallest* one is 30 minutes.

I wholeheartedly  agree with Uncle John on these points. The event is complex but that's okay, it's not too expensive and the lag is terrible.

Wondering if anyone else is having there game freeze up when they try to search for a challenge in the Village Fair? I have not been able to start a challenge since it began yesterday.

2 of our coop members are stopping playing until the Vllage Fair is over
Lag has ruined it for them
Many others are finding their game is spoilt and not fun at the moment

Of those that have voiced an opinion even if the game functioned the Village Fair is waste of time, no fun with silly rewards

Who can start a challenge must be restricted to deputies only

Our coop will collaose shortly if this situation is not resolved soon

  • wait alittle maybe for me its take around 1 min

Wait a bit. Is the spelling correct? Is it fair or fare or fear.

'Fair' connotes festivity, fun and rejoicing. I don't find any of these here. (If any of u find them, pls introduce them to me. I am running short of fun in this game since last few months.)

If 'fair' means honesty, then the entire fairness is monopolized by admin (I mean their pockets), nothing left for poor players.

Yes, there are plenty of 'fear'. Fear of getting absurd collection task, fear that somebody will start booster wasting gold (whose source is drying out every passing day), fear that we'll get almond on five consecutive challenges, etc. etc.

Or, is it 'fare'? Fare to be paid for loving the game little too long; fare for being a student with little pocket-money, fare for trying to preserve the dignity of the coop, fare for trying to meet the expectation of fellow members.

Another downtime is imminent. This time for removing the mis-spelling bug.

N.B. Oooops! There is no end of (hum)bugs!

Had we completed the challenge 100%, the bonus would have been 1905+1905, for a Co-Op total of 3,810 points. My PERSONAL points aren't affected (unless I have a personal booster running, I would presume). So while it's worthwhile to complete each challenge 100%, it's not really *necessary*. Even completing a challenge to the 75% point will give you a good bonus to the base score.

The more I play each challenge, the more I (overall) like the event.  The only thing I would change would be to remove items from the challenges that take more time to harvest than the length of the challenge (such as Wheat, Apples, or Cow Feed). Even with Special Seeds (45 minutes), it takes more time to grow the wheat than the challenge time permits. That's the reason we don't have Wheat, Cabbage & Apple missions, and the same should apply here.

Southern - thanks for taking the time to write up your summary - as more people understand the mechanics better evaluation of the event is more likely.  I noted two things - one to clarify and one I think might be misleading.

When talking about the "Bonus" to the base score - if you complete the challenge you get the 25% for each of the 4 items AND an additional 100% for completing all four.  So,  in your example the total would have been 1905 (base) + 1905 (4x25% for each of the four items) + 1905 (100% completion bonus) = 5715

Then, when you say your "personal points aren't affected", you allude to a a personal booster - I believe that this event does not have personal boosters.  Any booster purchased affected the whole coop, it's just a matter of who pays for it coop or member.  I could be wrong on this, we haven't tested it in our coop, but that is how I heard the video explanation. - further investigation is warranted.

  • All prizes owned for the personal ones. Didn't have a lick of gold to spend, Not one gold coin for the entire event. Didn't complete even a single challenge, just ran out of time. Here's the key, don't worry about numbers of items you need, just produce the best you can and the points are there in a longer challenge. We didn't intend to have this as a challenge for our coop, but this is what happens with a mistake by a member. Boosters aren't needed, just hard work.

Prizes are pathetic. Don't see everyone helping so they get only the prizes at the end. Do I care? Nope, because I did do the work needed. I'd like to feel I accomplished something, but I didn't. I got crappy prizes for a lot of effort.
  • My farm is completely screwed up...   Can not click on many of the items...

Ah, thanks for the clarifications!  Next time I complete a challenge 100%, I'll make sure to check that bonus. :)  That would definitely make the 100% bonus more appealing (although still not required, the Co-Op will just get fewer points).

As for the personal/co-op boosters, I bought two as a test, one (1 minute) using personal gold, and (1 minute) using Co-Op gold - in both cases, the timer increased by 2 minutes for *everyone*, so I think you're exactly right on that one. I'll edit my original post to reflect that. :)  (Well, both of these). :)

    So........

I think the event is salvageable.

    1.  When we earned a booster, and it was active.....i still got no boost.  I harvested things for which i know the amounts and they never went up.

I think if you reread, the boosters increase the POINTS received not the actual product amounts

  • Heavy lag during VF challenge, otherwise just the regular lag.
  • I'm hearing nothing but crickets from GGS concerning how slow the game gets when a challenge is running. Nearly unplayable after 10 minutes.

This needs to be addressed before things get released. Imagine how horrible it would be during a month with the WWC!

Fix all events that slow the game to a crawl.

    @Farmer Kissy (US1)

Just the thought of producing 1 MILLION MILK in (14 hours) makes me sick. That is in no way achievable, not even for BP. (At least without using tens of thousands of seaweed).

    Ridiculous.

FINALLY someone who bothered to do some observation before making a comment!  Thanks, Southern.

I'm liking this event a lot.  GGS got many things right on this one, things we've been asking for, for years.

The key to the event would seem to be learning to work the boosters which increase the points you get for collecting products, and the bonuses which increase your overall points earned.  They've made those awfully complex and it's been hard to figure out so far.  Once understood, though, I'm sure co-ops will be able to mount up their points with good efficiency.

An addition to what you said about bonus points - every time you collect the amount asked for in a challenge, you get an extra 25% increase to your overall score for that challenge.  (If you must collect 2400 of something, every time you collect another 2400 of it, your base score goes up another 25%)  Also, when you earn boosters, the percentages continue to build up from challenge to challenge, though the duration of the booster changes somehow that I haven't figured out yet.  Right now our co-op has over 400% boosters for each of the four product types and that number continues to increase with each challenge we do.

The biggest thing wrong with the event is the LAG.  I suspect it may be related to the gigantic database of co-ops and the data on their challenges.  The "filter" takes so long it is essentially useless.  The list of challenges comes up by default on Page 5, which is where all the 13-hour challenges based on very high level co-ops is.  It might be better if this defaulted to page 2 or 3 (the middle level of co-ops) where you can find 30-minute and 1-hour challenges.

After playing about 5 (30-minute) challenges, I think I've got most of the main mechanics figured out.

In a nutshell, the Village Fair seems to be a combination of a CC and a "Co-Op Wide Mission" - that is to say, each challenge doesn't need to be "Won" or "Finished" in order to gain "Challenge Points", but if you DO complete the challenge, you gain a multiplier to the number of challenge points than if you don't complete the challenge.

I think Southern and Buddy have it pretty well figured, thanks to you both . The booster duration is earned from collecting  certain products and is shown in the preview of each challenge , or of course purchasing with gold .It doesn't always show on the scoreboard , so not certain on this .
Major problems , apart from the lag issue , are the requirements for long time products in short challenges and the unfeasible amounts needed for long challenges .

If only you people (GGS) were able to institute a new aspect to the game without all the crap (never ending messes due to the "fixes" that always screw things up for what seems to be eternity). Then, the almost continuous pop ups that slow down the entire game, including freezing it so that we have to leave the game and attempt to get back into it (it took close to an hour last evening to re-enter the game).

Why not leave well enough alone and fix the problems, BEFORE you add more problems to the game?
  • Now that I've done short (30 minute) and a long (12 hours) missions in the coop,
I'm leaning towards liking this event. I do think there needs to be rebalancing of some
of the mission requirements but, I do like the aspect of your participation is the
    only way to garner prizes.

Right now, it seems like, longer missions are better in that you're
not stuck wondering what I should plant and/or hold off on harvesting. It's a bit more "Casual", and
most people can get a few items by just doing regular farming.

The shorter events are kind of like quick drive-by challenges. Good if you want to
check where you're stronger or weaker as a coop, and where improvements can be made.

The prizes are kind of meh - I have no idea what I'm going to do with 1,200 speed fertilizers but,
I'm happy to get construction coins, even in small amounts.
