It's a numbers game. Your horse will win a certain percentage of times based on its level and how many races you run. I have a level 88 horse that will lose quite a few times to levels 20 and lower. In the end, though, I usually end up where I should be. I just keep him racing -- any and all comers.

I also encounter similar problem. Even your opponent has only have 5% to win or lower, you can still have chance to lose, and vice versa.

Your horse could have tripped on a rock, stopped to pee, had a bad day, leg cramp, saw a butterfly and stopped.  (I actually was on a horse at full gallop when it did that.)

So numbers don't mean much.   Like artful said just keep him running.
    Kinda boring I know….
  • It still has me peeved to think that this is merely a Percentage Based on the number of actual races that you participate in, To sum this up - BULLSHIT!

I also wanted to say, Is this the kind of thing that this gaming community has to put with?
Have you been so complacent that you're not going to act upon it and voice you're opinion?
But, it is disgusting to think that some players will blindy just spend money on this game for these
    kind of astrocities. Very dissapointing.

It's not just the number of races, but also your horse level. At any particular level, you would be expected to win a certain percentage of the time. So, let's say your horse, at its level, is expected to win 40% of its races.  If it's in 100 races, you'd probably win about 40 of them. If it's in 200 races, about 80, and so on. So where you end up seems to be a factor of the percentage you're expected to win based on your level PLUS the number of races you're in.

In the beginning, I kept records, and sure enough, my horse would win about the same percentage of times, no matter what level horse he was up against.  As he leveled up, that percentage went up.  And it's stayed fairly consistent. I try to keep him challenging during the tourneys. So, while my percentage stays consistent, the actual number of races won goes up if I keep him busy.

The horse competition is a very long  term part of the game , just keep breeding and training . As your horses increase in level, your results in the Comp will improve . It can and does take years .... ;)  ;)  ;)

Could be a numbers thing, could be chance, could be they bought their horse with gold and I did not. But it happens too often to be much fun. It is frustrating to loose to lower level horses several time per day. Not very realistic, not very fun, not very satisfying is it?

No, it's not realistic, that's for sure. All I can say is that as you level up, you do better. Didn't take me years, just about one year before I could (usually) count on ending up in Platinum.

I find it entirely predictable: As soon as you need just one more victory to advance to the next level, you lose that challenge. Then you get challenged a bunch at a time and lose them all too, so you need like 8 more wins to move up.
  • I won against levels 80s and 90s with my level 49 horse, as well as I lost against levels 18s and 20s. Just because of that, I can not be mad at the system.

You just cross your fingers and hope you will win.

Don't let it bother you too much, Elf. It's not that important... Just enjoy a nice, free game. Now, come to the Village Pond and have a beer with us!

Your competition chances can be improved with your selection of breeding effects, and the Meadow can really help here . Even in RL, horses are unpredictable , otherwise bookmakers would be riding bicycles, not driving Rolls Royces  . :D

The horse competition is just like a casino game, you play 8 times every 10 hours for a random chance to earn points for rewards.  The only way to get more points during a season is to play often for more chances for points.

GGS makes many ways to make players buy gold in horse competition.
In horse shop, some rare horses cost more than 50000 gold.
For diamond league, some players spend gold for extra fuel, players that play less often spend gold for capacity.  If a player really wants a profile picture, he would buy lots of gold and maybe interrupt work or sleep to make sure he stays in the league.  If a player misses the reward, GGS sells profile pictures in offers for about 500 US dollars worth of gold!  Most players would not buy such extreme amounts of gold.  The design of the game is making players interrupt daily activities and making people use up their wealth in offers.  The profits will not last because the unreasonable prices and large number of gold offers will affect the reputation of the game and there will be less recommendations and reviews that attract players.  If there are more players that play and the offers are worthwhile and more rare, the company will get more gold sales than making a few players spend large amounts of money.
