IS BIG FARM HEADED TOWARD A GLOBAL CATASTROPHE?

We here at the "Daily Spud" have received reports of the effects of climate change! Whether or not you think that global warming is real or not doesn't matter. It's fairly obvious that things are getting strange around our farms.  ;)  Sure, we can blame it on a glitch or a bug, but the fact of the matter is that some pretty strange things happen on a fairly regular basis here. Take for an example this photo taken of the farm of local farmer MRG1. The water levels are rising at an incredible rate!  :o  We may need to build levees soon so we can save our farms from disaster!  Let us hope that the developers soon add a levee to our Build menu.  :)
You heard it here first at the "Daily Spud".  B)

Monday, March 12, 2018                       Big Farm Community News

You see them every day. You count on them because you have obligations, contracts to fill with deadlines to meet. You trust them with your valuable fishing boats in the hope of a big load of fish. Yet what do you really know about them? Nothing! And you're their boss!  I'm talking about the brave men and women who risk their lives on the open sea so you can make a profit at deep-sea fishing.  We here at the " Daily Spud" thought it was high time we learned more about these intrepid individuals, so we sent our reporters out to talk to them and hear their stories. We hope you find them as fascinating as we did, in this special edition that we call.......

Roy Brown grew up on the mean streets of Chicago's South Side, so he's as tough as they come! As a teenager, he ran with a bad crowd just to survive, so he was always in and out of trouble with the law. But that all changed when he met and married the love of his life, his lovely wife Alicia. They now have three children, two girls and a boy. But the crime-ridden big city life wasn't what Roy wanted for his own kids, so he packed up his family and went on the move, searching for a place to call home. They eventually found their way here to our community. Roy likes bowling and shooting pool with his fellow fisherman and watching sports with them in his "man cave". But what he loves the most is spending time with his family. They often enjoy picnics on the beach while enjoying our scenic ocean views. His eyes welling with tears, Roy said, "Here at Big Farm, my family and I have found a peaceful life that we never knew existed. I'm a very lucky man".
    Good for you, Roy!animated-happy-smiley-image-0007

James Efferton hails from the heart of the Midwest, namely the city of Omaha, Nebraska. James was a straight A student who looked forward to becoming a teacher like both his parents. After several years of an exceptional career as a high school Math teacher, James longed for something more exciting, so he quit his teaching job and went off to sea! He traveled all over the world on many different kinds of ships before coming to our shores. You may have noticed the eye patch that he always wears. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with his vision in that eye, he just wears the eyepatch because he wants people to think he's cool.
    It's not working, James!

Brigitte Palmer grew up on a horse ranch outside of Billings, Montana, so she's no stranger to hard work. She knows everything there is to know about horses, so it comes as no surprise that she and Rose McLundy would become good friends here at Big Farm. They often go riding together when she has the time. Brigitte tells us, "When I first came here, Matilda McMuffin came over to welcome me and brought me a basket of her fresh-baked goodies. They were sooooooo yummy! That's when I knew that this was the place for me!" All of her fellow fishermen love having Brigitte as part of their crew because they know they'll get home quicker with her aboard. Glad to have you in our community, Brigitte! <3

Gerald Spangler comes from San Diego, California.  It was there that he found he had a talent for art, and went to a prestigious art school in L.A..  He tried many different mediums for his artwork, oils, watercolors, stone, and wood. But the art medium he found the most interesting was living human skin! That's right, Gerald is a tattoo artist! He traveled back and forth across the country gaining experience by doing tattoos on anyone who wanted one. Although Gerald has no visible tattoos of his own, he told our reporter that when he gets out of the shower he sometimes likes to "doodle around a little" on himself.
    Too much information, Gerald!

Walter Pittman comes from Nashville, Tennessee, the home of country music. Walter will be the first to tell you that he's a real nerd, but that's okay, he's good with it.  ;)  He loves computers and video games and all the latest tech equipment he can get his hands on. By the way, there's nothing wrong with Walter's vision either. The glasses are fakes. Turns out Walter shaves his head and wears the glasses because he's a huge fan of the show "Breaking Bad".
                                                                            Whatever floats your boat, Walter!

And there you have it, our first installment in this special edition of the "Daily Spud"! B)
Be looking out for our next installment, Part 2 of "MEET THE CREW!".
And as always, you heard it here first at the "Daily Spud"!

Wednesday, March 14, 2018                      Big Farm Community News

Hello again, Big Farmers! It's now time for our second installment of.........

Carol and Nancy Weber are sisters who hail from Enid, Oklahoma and were active in their local church choir, where they loved to sing gospel songs. Folks always complimented them on their beautiful singing voices and told them they should become professional singers.
So when the hit show "American Idol" came to their hometown looking for people to audition for the show, they thought they would give it a shot. The judges just loved their singing! They kept wowing the judges week after week until the final show of the season. For the final show, they sang the best of their life and won hands down!
But that's when things didn't go as planned for the talented duo. Carol explained, "Suddenly we were famous and everyone wanted interviews and photos of us."  "We had no privacy at all!", added Nancy. "Worst of all were the paparazzi from those trashy tabloids". "They wrote lies about us!" said Carol. "They said my sister and I really hated each other!"  "Just plain lies!" "It was then we decided that the life of celebrity wasn't for us".
"So we went into hiding and moved so they couldn't harass us anymore", said Nancy. "One of our friends told us about Big Farm and it sounded like just the kind of place we were looking for", Carol said. "And we LOVE it here!", they chimed in unison. These two songbirds are a favorite of their fellow fishermen because while they're hauling in the fish, the girls will start singing one of their beautiful gospel songs for them. "It makes the time just fly by!", says fellow crewman Roy Brown.  I think you'll agree that these gals are just the kind of people we like to have in our community and hope maybe they'll treat us all to a concert someday.  <3
    How 'bout it, ladies?  o:)

Ian O'Donnell grew up on a small potato farm outside of the town of Bruff on the Emerald Isle we know as Ireland. Our interviewer found Ian to be an excitable fellow, especially when he describes his dislike for a certain root vegetable.  Says Ian, "My family wasn't exactly what you would call "well-to-do", so we made do with what we had available. So what did we eat? Potatoes!  What did we have for Breakfast? Potatoes! Lunch? Potatoes! Dinner? Potatoes with a side of potatoes! That's why I hate potatoes! Wait, I take that back, I don't hate potatoes, I L-O-A-T-H-E them! animated-angry-smiley-image-0097   So as soon as I was old enough to be on my own, I left Ireland to come to America (except for Idaho), and settle down. So you want to know why I came here to Big Farm? Because you don't grow potatoes here, that's why!"

I'll be honest with you, Ian, that while you're correct in saying we don't grow potatoes here, we have fields and woodlands outside of our farms. If you look around, you'll see that we have wild potatoes growing all over the place! That's not a problem for you, is it?

Edit: (Please watch your language, Ian.)
                               (end of interview)

Joe Washington comes to us from the city of Houston, Texas. He was a tough kid who found he was a good fighter. A former Navy Seal, he's highly trained in hand-to-hand combat and advanced weaponry, so nobody on the crew messes with Joe! But in fact he's a real teddy bear, especially when it comes to Nancy and Carol Weber. You see, Joe was their bodyguard during the girls brief celebrity and kept them safe from all the wackos. He got to know them for the sweet gals they are and became like a big brother to them. So when the gals went, he went with them. Joe works alongside them and still sees that they stay out of danger. You don't need any protection on your boat when you've got Joe aboard! animated-angry-smiley-image-0268

Jim Gallagher was born in Fort Bragg in North Carolina, to a family of Irish and Croatian heritage. If he looks familiar to you, it's because he's the younger brother of the famous American comedian known as Gallagher.       But Jim didn't want to follow his brother into show business, he wanted to make a life of his own. He found he had a talent for fixing things. There's nothing that he can't fix! Sometimes he even fixes things so they work better than new! He's real handy to have on your boat cause you'll never be stranded out on the ocean with him aboard. Jim tells us, "I really like to take stuff apart to see how it works". "It's an exciting challenge for me here at Big Farm because everything here seems to be broken!
We know exactly what you mean, Jim! animated-winking-smiley-image-0001

Saturday, March 17, 2018                          Big farm Community News

Hello, Big Farmers!  It's now time for our final installment of.......

Victor Templeton was born and raised in the town of Goolwa in South Australia. Victor says it's one of the prettiest places on God's green earth and that Big Farm reminds him of home."The folks there are all neighborly and polite, but I must admit they get a bit rowdy at times", Victor said with a wink. ;) So why did he leave such a beautiful place to come here? Victor explains, " Well, I was always breaking out in a really itchy rash. I didn't know what was wrong, so I went to the doctor. He told me that I was highly allergic to wool!" "Trust me, that's not a good thing when you live in a town full of sheep farmers!" So I came to your community and I no longer have that pesky rash." Of course, I try hard stay away from the sheep pens on the Viking farm." said Victor with a smile. animated-happy-smiley-image-0002
It's interesting to hear that Big Farm can be good for your health, Victor.  Who knew?! animated-confused-smiley-image-0020

Lisa Faraday was an Army brat who has traveled all around the world several times. Her father (now retired) was a high-ranking officer in the Army's 101st Infantry Division, so Lisa learned a lot about strategy from her Dad. If you ever need to know how to plan ahead, Lisa is the one to ask. Her favorite thing to do after a hard day's fishing is to go to the beach and hang out with her friends. Says Lisa, " It's just so nice and relaxing here. It's so cool to just hang around with my besties!" "It's so much fun!"animated-party-smiley-image-0020  " I've been all over, but the minute I saw this place you call Big Farm, I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life here."  <3
And we're lucky to have you here, Lisa! animated-thumbs-smiley-image-0006

Russell Budreau grew up in the bayou country outside of the town of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Growing up, Russel learned to hunt, fish, and survive in this hostile environment. So it's no wonder that deep-sea fishing comes so natural for him. His Cajun ancestry dates as far back as anyone can remember. And even now, Russell still hankers for some good 'ol Cajun home cookin' once in a while. He tells our reporter, " I used to be able to eat my own weight in crawfish!"  "I admit that sounds like an exaggeration, but you don't know how hard we folks in the bayou party!" animated-party-smiley-image-0076
Well, you'll have to work hard to keep up with us Big Farmers, Russell. ;) We're party animals! animated-party-smiley-image-0013

John Gardner comes from Boston, Massachusetts. The son of a wealthy banker, John is the kind of guy who likes to earn his money, not have it handed to him on a silver platter. His father is very proud of his son for this and is always there for John. Owners of the boats that John goes out on appreciate his help. He shows the rest of the crew how to tie fishing knots that don't come loose and cost them  valuable fish. "Just doing my part as one of the crew", said John.  :)
That's the kind of teamwork we like to see in our community, John!

Paul Ledbetter hails from the snowy frontier of Fairbanks, Alaska , where the residents are known for their pioneer spirit. They're rugged and independent, and Paul is no exception. Paul is right at home in the great outdoors, so fishing on the open sea is right up his alley! Says Paul, " We fished for a lot of salmon back home, so they mostly let me focus on catchin' salmon."  "I'm grateful for the chance to prove myself to the Big Farmers who decide to hire me". "I work as hard as I can so as not to let them down."  :)
    That's the spirit, Paul!animated-jumping-smiley-image-0028

And there you go, the stories behind these folks who make your success at deep-sea fishing possible.animated-money-smiley-image-0023
Thank you for reading this special edition of the "Daily Spud".

                                                                                        MONTY INJURED!!!!!!

Well-known proprietor of the "Wheel of Fortune" Montgomery (Monty) Goldwin was struck by some flying debris this morning while waiting for customers. As Monty tells us, " I was just standing there minding my own business when all of a sudden a local farmer harvested from his Bakery. He must have had a full load of turnovers because all sorts of stuff came flying out! "Before I had a chance to duck, a Cat Charm flew straight at me and hit me in my noggin, sending my hat flying"!  "Those Cat Charms may look soft, but they've got sharp edges"!  "Luckily, Vicki was nearby and rushed to my aid. She said I didn't need stitches, but would have a nasty bump for a while."   "This has been going on for months now! It was only a matter of time before somebody got hurt, namely ME!!!!"        Monty then displayed his injury to our reporter, as you can see in this photo of poor Monty............

Thursday, March 29. 2018                     Big Farm Community News                                       Laboratory Edition

                                                        MYSTERY SURROUNDS FARM LABORATORY

While many very high levels of the Farm Laboratory remain a mystery to those without tens of billions of dollars to spend, we have it from an educated source that there's a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to the farm lab.To explain his hypothesis, we've invited the eminent scholar and head of Research & Development for Big Farm, Professor Chester P. Crackpot (PHD) to give us his thoughts on the Lab. Take it away, Professor!

Thank you for the kind welcome, farmerjohn.  :)  Chester P. Crackpot here! Let's see, where to begin? Since it's appearance on Big Farm, this building seems to do the impossible! For example, at Level 30, by just sprinkling a bit of catalyst on a few things from the Flower Shop along with a few fish and presto, you've made a Gold Mystery Box! I've been a respected member of the scientific community for a very long time and haven't the foggiest idea how this is accomplished! But I have a theory. ;)  There just can't be the kind of equipment needed to produce these miracles of modern science in that small of a building.  Ergo, the laboratory must have top secret rooms underground! That's right!  This begs the question, what goes on down there?  I believe there is strange and highly unorthodox experimentation going on right under our feet! Why do I say that? Because look around and you'll see things that just can't be!  For instance, have you ever taken a close look at the fish we have in our ponds and rivers around here? They blink! They have eyelids! Fish do NOT have eyelids!  These mad scientists in the Lab must be stopped before they create even more genetic freaks! That's all I have to say for now, but don't you worry, the future of Big Farm is safe with a Crackpot in charge!  Thank You.  :)

And thank you for your efforts to bring us the truth, Professor.

Here is an image provided by the Professor to diagram these secret underground chambers......

You heard it here first at the "Daily Spud".

                                                             TESSA TOWNSEND.......WHAT HAPPENED?

We all know and love our friend Tessa Townsend, a familiar face in Big Farm. But she didn't always look the way she looks now. At some point she must have had some type of surgery! Why do I say this? Just look at the Before and After photos below. Notice anything different? I know I do!  animated-scared-smiley-image-0004

    BEFORE...       AFTER...

You heard it here first at the "Daily Spud".

  • That's not "work" in the colloquial since - that's just a functioning bra and a properly buttoned shirt.   :|
  • She's got a different shirt/same color.

The gloriously beautiful decoration farmerrose12 created is finally available for all farmers! For just a puny 225k gold you can worship fire or water, whatever fits your culture better. Let's all pray to the phoenix gods that they may integrate themselves into other aspects of the game. I put my hopes into santa's workshop.

Edit: Tessa now dresses more demure 'cause she got married
    :D That's my theory.
