|CNY sucked. I wrote down my scores before it was over and this is what I got. horse 114%, goat 113%, monkey 113%, rooster 110%, pig 100%, dog 100%, rat 122%, ox 114%, tiger 104%, rabbit 83%, dragon 60% and snake 43%. It said I had 54 points and 11 bonus points. I got only the 54 points on my fire rooster. This really sucks when I had almost all of them!

@0MrsB (US1) It would suck more to manage to get all 12 complete & have no extra reward for it, so it makes sense that the bonus is for doing that. At least you got all the important ones, so your deco has all the parts & is 5x5, all you missed were the happiness ones & you can add that later with Greta, so it could be worse
Really? Word games now? The sarcasm continues. You wanted to know why I thought this event was one of ONLY 2 that was strategical so I gave u some examples of strategies that I used this time round. Sorry if it isn't up to your high standards but last time I checked it worked for me. You claim luck luck luck but I made my own luck by having high dropping seeds and stables ready for every firework booster which is why i've been sitting back relaxing the last few days with a fully completed decoration. Maybe if u actually farmed instead of wasting time in forums scientifically examining animal zodiac drops and playing word games with ppl u may get full completion on the decoration. Goodluck
Took me a while to get back as I don¨t have all the time in the world for gaming, but just for the record and as last clarification. Yes. Absolutely serious. No kidding. I took the liberty to edit back in your post the emphasised "ONLY" which was originaly there. Consider these two questions, which I phrase for higher clarity:
a) What makes you think, that there are only two strategic events in this whole game, while all the other events are not strategic?
b) Could you give me examples of some simple strategies which you use to succed in this event?
I asked "a", you answered "b". I suspect you knew all the time that I didn't want to hear "b" as you label me the one who "figured it all out". Anyway, should be my last response to this hopefully as from original simple question the debate somewhat deteriorated.
.....................
I agree I could have finished Snake if I wanted that extra XP bad enough and invested a bit more time into playing. After all I posted about that already. Now I created account on AU server to check what you are about. 17 or so fertile fields, that's what I expected. High number of level 1 Chicken coops and other stuff I didn't expect. Specialisation on missions? Or just purpose built L1 stuff for CNY? Never mind. Obviously this settng is advantage for drop based events. I think just those 17 + 4 fields, more then twice my power, would be enough to take you through.
People play in different ways. I play it as economy simulator, where understanding mechanics and calculating things is important. That's what makes this game fun for me. Researching, analysing, calculating. I enjoy the journey and delicate balancing. When my farms are fully built making everything easy I'll probably quit playing as it will have no further sense for me. Others play what I call "power game". Build everything to the max for their purpose asap and then use that power to override everything. Some add ample use of gold and sea-weed to overcome every obstacle that get's in their way to win or speed developement. Farm with it's economy is just a tool for something else in their thinking, not THE THING itself.
Now I consider this event luck based cause I look at it's mechanism. If your farm is well built and even specialised for this type then you might not even notice that there is any luck mechanism involved as increased output can override luck factor. I could have overcome bad luck by investing more time or resources, and increased drop power of high number of L1 facilities certainly worked for you. Wheather you notice it or not, the event is still luck based and those who were in that range to be affected and took notice know it to be true.
Regarding strategies your farm would have made it without massive use of event seeds anyway, just due to it's makeup and your devotion to the game. If I did that in my balanced economy play, I'd consider it wasted resources as I have better use for them. But that's me. As I've said already, we play different ways according to what we consider fun.
Hopefully it explained something. If not for you, at least for everybody else.
I LOVE IT!!! No thinking, no special produce needed...JUST HARVEST!!! This is just the speed of game I like; no cares in the world, no pressure, no anxiety ... just love it!!! Don't even care what the deco or prize I get in the end. Can't say enough about it...LOL
personally I hate these kind of events, like the snowball event. the prizes are not any good and I hate all the pop up items, even though I clear them quick using the scroll wheel. the only one I like is bees, and that's because the drops are so rare but they make a real impact, and the prize is decent and the event ends pretty quickly. All those things combined make bees bearable for me, this chinese new year event has none of them (it has loooots of drops with little impact, the prizes are no good, its spread out over MANY days instead of ending quickly, etc.).
I'm in the not so loving it group too. Though not the worst thing GG has done, but kinda pointless. It's not like we actually have a goal here. Oh I need more chickens to get thaaaaat. NO. Just more junk flying out of everything clogging up actual play. I have yet to get any deco worth using either. I think the last time around mine was pretty much empty, virtually worthless, and a HUGE land wasting thing. It got deleted.
Still not a fan of the decoration......instead of getting a golden dog that looks elegant and awesome we get this furry little cartoon critter thing on a pedestal. Terrible in comparison to the fire rooster! Apart from that this is still one of my favourite events.
@gizmo22 (AU1) I kinda like all three. However, I do agree, the fire rooster is the best so far.

@gizmo22 (AU1) sigh...what do u want from designers who are probably all frazzled & fried ...these techie people can only do so much with what imagination & creativity they possess. Also, the dog is same as one that is in doghouse...that's why I want it ... in homage to my dog on main farm. This game is boring after a short event is over ... the bees I don't even notice & many times don't even notice...more often notice going rather than its arrival...giggle...I'm not going to complain about deco's looks as it's the only one available for the Year of the Dog...besides everyone...it's only a game not real-life portraiture ... everything is rather "cartoonish" in the game...look at the cows, chickens; everything is "cute" now that they changed bugs to blue...LOL...I don't like the flys that drop for coop project use...ugh! Still think game is a no brainer & sometimes that's all that's needed after a stress-filled coop competition or challenge or even higher level quests...still say LOVE IT
Hey, it's a free deco for doing no more than farming. What's not to like? If one more event which requires me to jump through hoops appears in an already over-crowded field, I'll lose it. Most of my CNY decos ended up with Greta eventually, but "parts is parts" and I appreciate getting them.

Hate coops but missing out on the benefits? Check out "Hearts of Gold," the non-coop coop -- we leave you alone to farm your way. No donations or group participation required.
Deco gets to 145 happy I believe , on a 5 x 5 , which is worth having, and this can be boosted if you get extra chips , although it costs a mint to upgrade with Greta . Takes a bit of work, you need to hit a couple of fireworks boosters each day but is well achievable without spending gold . All round, I think its a good event .

It's 7x7, actually.

So what does the timer in the bottom corner that says time to next challenge mean, and do the fireworks come at the same time every day or is it ramdon?

Every 24hours the set of rewards changes the timer is there to show when the next set is avaliable
times of fireworks are listed on the tweeter you see on the right of the forum

Oh don't get me wrong CNY event is one of my favourites but as far as looks go the dog IS the same as the dog we already have. I would have preferred the dog on the trophy to look different and less like a cartoon critter.....the title is Firedog and its looks give more of a yelp than a grrrrrrrrowl lol
Posted in the right menu bar: Tweets Sunday's booster times: 12:00 - 12:25 16:45 - 17:00 20:45 - 21:50 23:20 - 23:45
And Monday morning: 02:15 - 02:30 08:45 - 09:10
We're all wondering what happened to the 02:15 - 02:30 (CET) Fireworks (7:15 PM CST)
Is it a Sunday deal with no staff & systems on autopilot?
Can we expect the same omission for the 08:45 display as well?
Can GGS man a live body to address issues on weekends or Holidays, please. If not, please provide us discounted play for inferior service during these times.
two failures in a row, im guessing we're gonna get the old 'someone forgot to switch it on' excuse
and the fact we (uk at least) 'missed' the first day as it skipped straight to day two, it's all a bit wearisome
and btw, a 'first day' deco as compensation for the first day mess up, is not compensation at all, the deco will be worthless, absolutely worthless, the very nature of the event makes that self evident
Have an idea from my co-op Leader at Golden Harvest @Phung Bampencho (US1) - get the Fireworks to be at same times each day, so we can plan for it (for those who work & play). This would make it easier on server , GGS stuff and us playing the game.
Why all those weird times in middle of the night ....grrr-- staying up on weekends just to get the rewards & finish one zodiac sign if you lucky.

Fertilizer(main farm silo), Humus, and Premium cow feed(lab) also make lots of chips during fireworks.

Failures brought to you by GGS, every event we will fail to deliver what we say and if we give you anything it will be bugs and glitches.
Ummm yeah thanks GSS, thanks for all the free bugs and failed events I am so honoured to play your game, NOT.

We were supposed to have 2 sets from:
2:15AM - 2:30AM (CET) / 7:15PM - 7:30PM (CST)
8:45AM - 9:10AM (CET) / 1:45AM - 2:10AM (CST)
But instead they kicked off at around 9:00PM - 9:15PM (CST) and 11:20PM - 11:40PM (CST)..
So it was probably a case of someone typing in the times wrong, either on the Tweet, or in the autopilot.
So we did GET the 2 fireworks, they just weren't at the times they were scheduled to be.
