The smallest boat only fishes for 42 minutes, that is only 1 fish.
You can add crew to catch more fish, every "John" you add will catch 2 fish/hour extra, if you add a "Walter" the fishing time will be longer.
  • so, if i add a "John", when boat is home it will brings me 3 fish with only 42 minutes fishing time?

All the fish are "per hour" so you will have to add more Johns.
You can calculate easy: fish/hour x time= number of fish.

In this example:8 fish per hour for 42 minutes will be about 6 fish.
You can add Johns to reach the max capacity for your boat.
  • In the example above, where the boats fishes for 42 min and can catch up to 8 fish per hour, since it is only out for 42 min instead of an hour it will get less than 8 fish.

    For instance:
    42min / 60 min = 0.7 hours
0.7 x 8= 5.6 rounded down to 5 fish will be caught. Provided that there are 5 or more fish in that pool.

If you add a John it's now 10/hour
    or 0.7 x 10 = 7 fish

    If 6 John's, then 0.7 x (8+12) = 14 fish

If adding a walter and a john
1.7 x (8+2) = 17, but your max capacity is 14 so the 3 fish extra possible fish will count, but the boat will return sooner.

Have fun figuring out all the math:)   I keep a spreadsheet of the different boats I currently have.
You will also want to figure out your cost for fish vs sell price.  It's rather important with the more expensive equipment on the other boats

Just so you don't get the wrong idea @tyo2 (INT1) I feel I should enplane a few things.

Each fishing pool has it's own travel time that you can see when you mouse over them. This travel time will get added to your boats fishing time. To answer your question above: "so, if i add a "John", when boat is home it will brings me 3 fish with only 42 minutes fishing time?"  No you will not get 3 fish in just 42 minutes.

1 John will only get you 2 fish in 42 minutes of fishing time plus what ever the fishing holes travel time is.
A level 1 Motorboat has 4 slots so you can put 4 John on it and that will get you 7 fish.
  • thank you so much guys, these help me a lot

Many times I get losses that are much more than the maximum (20%) found in pools, like 30-50%

I give here an example of 34% loss .( ship supposed to get 123 fish with max 20% loss = 25 loss - no safety used)

How is this possible ? Is the report bad or the calculations that result in this loss ?

    @dpbplue (US1)

    81 + 42 = 123 Fish total.

    Hazard 1: 123 * 10% = 12 Fish Lost. Fish Remaining = 111
    Hazard 2: 111 * 10% = 11 Fish Lost.  Fish Remaining = 100
    Hazard 3: 100 * 10% = 10 Fish Lost. Fish Remaining = 90
    Hazard 4: 90 * 10% = 9 Fish Lost. Fish Remaining = 81

You were hit by 4 hazards simultaneously.
