The speed of catching Deep Sea fish and the mount of dollars received from completing contracts in Fish market can't keep up with the money spent.
I need so much money to exchange for Viking farm dollars as well as expanding my farms, upgrading facilities, and producing.
I caught a lot of fish and now they've got stuck in storage.
If this continues, I have nothing to keep playing this game.

Sorry to hear you got caught up in this big mess as well. I caught fish PRE-upgrade. Those fish were caught based on specific profits. And all I can be told is sell them in the market for much less cash and a few trinkets. This is not right at all. So now my fish sit in inventory and my boats sit at the dock. I say burn the fish market to the ground ... let it burn!

Old selling price of oysters was 4687...so for 225 oysters it's 1,054,575 dollars....to catch 225 oysters , sending a trawler with freezers , roys and brigittes will cost 150k+ dollars....but donating 225 oysters for the market is just rewarding me a water drop and a violet seed...Is this what you call balance ?

duhhh who would go for a fishing competition where you will be rewarded only a water drop and a violet seed...they might find pearls from those oysters which will make them be billionaires....

Edited to add: They put this popup right in the middle of my game play but they could not put up a popup to let me sell my fish.

We need to be able to sell fish. The farm does not function without it. Imagine on the organic market, if I had to wait to sell almonds until I satisfied apple requirements in the market. The farm does not function properly this way. (This is getting old. It is time to fix this!)

Also,

the market asks for way too much chum...... (and oddly it almost always asks for tuna or herring chum)

and

the market asks for way too many oysters and clams......

and

the market has never asked me for lobsters.........

Why are these called contracts anyway?? They're demands for thousands of dollars of product in return for nothing in most cases. Why does the buyer have sole discretion over the price of the product?? We should be setting our prices, not them. We should have control over what we ask for our products. The buyer can then refuse to buy, and we could adjust the price if we choose.

At the very least these contracts should be negotiated

@Eric_Farm_Guy (US1) I agree, those 1st contracts really bite - I was doing same as you, calculating how much the fish used to be worth & declining them all, but it will get you nowhere in the end, they just keep coming back. All you can do is fill some that are less painful than others, in order to get passed the 2 contract stage. Once you have 4, you start to get some with cash & then when you decline bad ones, you at least have some chance of getting better ones.

I don't think you necessarily have to fill the worst orders, I've systematically flushed all orders that offered rakes, brushes and / or water. Still managed to fill some orders that offered cash and f.i. karma balls or deco parts, and now have reached the 4 contract stage.
The temporary change to fishing holes during the FHW has helped though.

They have no incentive to change anything.

If all we do is posts complaints, nothing will change. If we continue to exchange fish for a few drops of water and a 'promise' of something better later, things will never get better. If GGS can keep us playing their game by giving us false promises, that is all we will ever get - false promises.

If you trust GGS and believe what they tell you, go ahead and keep fishing. If you are tired of being lied to, ignored, cheated and fed false promises, stop fishing.

GGS does not care what we say. But if we all work together in a grassroots movement, there is a small chance they will listen to our actions.

I am all ready doing this as it seems to be the only way that would work. I can't fill the contracts so what is the point of sending the boats out? I know I wont get the fishing holes needed for the HWE so why even start it? Buy gold after all they took from us? No I play my main farm an CC only an only because I love my Co op. some people did not build their dockyard yet.

I read every posts about this topic, every announcement and I did not find answer...

when I imagine start from point zero ( as if never ever existed deep sea fishing)....should I encourage them to try it?

or is it a big money pit from beginning?

seems for me like upgrading dockyard and building a new fleet for 1 drop of water or rakes etc... it will never work ...

or am i wrong?

It's interesting that you should bring that up.

I have a lvl 144 farm but never bothered to complete Oleg's tasks and so never opened the dockyard.
A few days ago I thought to myself, I have a bit of time on hand, why don't I go see what all the fuss is about.
So I started completing the tasks .... it took a few days, with the result that I could only start in on the fishy HWE on the second day it was running (with a little motorboat, it was like playing with dinky toys, toooo cute

)

Now, I'm proud to report, I have a motorboat and three runabouts (and George gave me a wherry and a skipjack for free), I'm ranked 8th on the FHWE in the fishing level 15 - 25 category, and won myself the first 27 awards so far !

Filled one or 2 contracts with the haul from the HWE and plan to send the little boats out, probably empty, to bring back whatever they may when the HWE is over.

Next FHWE I will be going at it again, winning stuff for virtually no input whatsoever.
It seems a good trade-off -- a bit of entertainment on the side while getting on with the business of farming.

I won't be putting any serious farm cash into the deep sea feature at this point because I need that money for developing my actual farms.

So yes, if you ask me, I would say to other deep sea newbies: go ahead, get your feet wet, dabble a bit, entertain yourself on the side playing with boats but focus on your farming (and invest the bulk of your farm dollars there) because it is a farming game, after all.

I can't click this thing OFF my screen fast enough. Totally insane. But notice, the add gold button is pretty big. And this thing pops up right dead center of your playing area. They count on accidental clicks and lost gold. This is the first reason I stopped adding any gold. If they steal some, they are only getting what little the game gave me. Fools, they would get more if only they made it safe so I knew it would only be spent where I want.

Well until the whole deep sea fiasco that is. Now even with a gold lock they aint getting a thing.

Ok, well that was fun, I just lost cash, and I am stuck with a couple drops of water I can pee out later to water my farm and some useless rakes. ::::: rolls eyes:::: sure lets keep doing that until I am COMPLETELY broke.

Shay1968, this is what I recommend so you don't go broke....forget equipping your boats...just send them out with the slots empty...the boats will catch you some fish and since the only thing you can do with them is make chum or fling them into a contract and you won't lose any money....flush the impossible contracts that call for fish you have no pools for....Don't lose your inner peace over the thing!

Since I have labs that can process mystery boxes, I will totally ignore/flush any fish contract that calls for fish that I need for my mystery boxes (Mystery boxes need: Shrimp, oysters, clams, tuna, herring and lobsters)....So when a contract comes with swordfish, salmon or cod, I will consider filling them providing they don't ask for chum that takes away from what I am using for my mystery boxes....I am happy, I have peace!

I could care less what they implement into the game and whether it is relevant to the game. They can add basket weaving for all I care. But IF they do implement something into the game and decide they want to nerf it, I expect some kind of reasonable notice. If I am spending my time on something, I do not expect it to be just yanked away because someone gets an itch. And if they do yank something they should compensate equivalent to the amount of farm cash or gold put into it and some type of compensation for time spent.

I have found the entire ship fleet thing to be confusing, overly complicated, expensive, and with little payback other than the 'fun' of playing with the boats, and enjoying the animated seas imagery.

I had, however, FINALLY found a reason to care and try to work there when you remove my ability to earn the game cash on all those things you'd previously allowed us to sell. That was NOT well done of you. Once you gave that to us you should not be taking it away.

The Fish Market is not any consolation for what you have removed.

Well not seeing much of an improvement in the pools slightly better very slightly not enough for me to really be bothered with.

I have 135 mystery boxes sitting in inventory, not anything that I covet or will worry about making.

hmmm....sometimes those mystery boxes contain valuable stuff like gold coins, GMLs, humus feed/fert (great for helping to complete Event steps, or for fast harvesting without using gold.....So have a wonderful Birthday Party or Christmas Party and open those boxes....whoohoo!

My problem with the rewards in the DSF market is a brush or shovel will not help MY farm at all. It will help someone else but dose nothing for me. I saw what wabbit said about it is worth gold but I would not spend my real money on someone else farm so for me and a lot of people it is worth nothing. It has no benefit to your own farm so to spend farm cash to equipped my boat and send it out to get something that is of no benefit to MY farm is stupid.

The rewards need to cover the cost incurred to use the DSF plus some cast or thing that MY farm will benefit from or there is no point in using it.

Please tell the higher up to change the rewards so that it is beneficial to use. OR better yet give us back direct sales and just lower the amount of cash we were getting.

There are no set values for the fish anymore, just random prices floating around giving GGS the freedom to generate any ridiculous contract they see fit. Adding the trinkets to the contracts is just another way to manipulate (reduce) the price. If they want to include the trinkets as a bonus, fine, but don't take the perceived trinket value out of the price of the fish. It's just insulting to those who don't want or don't need the trinkets.

Amazingly enough I only discovered the fishing gold mine a month ago, it was great.....I accelerated past 10 fishing levels, earned enough money to improve three farms two levels, all in a couple of weeks....it was a great ride...lobster chum was gold, and I used it as such. It was exhilarating. Farming is slow business, watching the crops grow....sometimes we need a boost, hence happy hour? Not sure how this game makes it money, but if it depends on consumers(players) buying gold.....I guess I am history.

GGS talks about "balance"...there is no balance.

I see a game going south very soon. GGS has lost players trust. No longer will any gold be used.

Something is wrong,....something is very wrong. So much for time invested, GGS has made their money and made it clear how they run the show.

I want to keep all my shrimp, clams, oysters, tuna, herring and lobsters....they are for chum. Chumming lobsters gives a lot of fishing XPs and helps speed up leveling up, which in turn gives me greater access to more Mermaid Bay food items. I make more $ selling the food than with the fish market. The only fish that I will deal with in the Fish Market is: Swordfish, regular chum made from Swordfish, Salmon and Cod.....So if you bring me those orders, I will gladly fill them...otherwise the fish market get flushed.

I think Oysters and Herrings are underpriced in Fish Market, please improve it.

I totally agree....I will only use them for chum and then to make mystery boxes in the lab on my main farm....much more useful to me than a rake and a brush plus a few dollars that I might get in a fish market order.

I don't care about xp, water, coins etc. They are nice, absolutely, but only if they are free. I can happily work in the game, harvesting and so on, to get them. But their value are 0 dollar and 0 gold in my world.

I do not have to make a lot of dollar on either market, but they have to be profitable, in dollar, every single contract. I play the game to make dollar, to enable me to build stuff on my farms. The other stuff are just icing, but I can totally live without them.

I quote myself and just want to underline the fact that EVERY contract om the Fish market has to have a dollar reward which is bigger than the cost of fishing and producing chum for that exact contract.

The contracts are still very bad, and i really don't want to spend hundreds of thousands of my hard earned farm dollars on water or karma balls.

I understand that we can not make as much dollars as before, but there are absolutely no point in having the fish farm, if it does not make a profit, in dollars, the unnecessary icing stuff does not count.

It should not be that difficult for the ggs staff to calculate the average cost of caching the fish, and make the contract rewards at least a little better than that. In DOLLARS!

And, by reading this thread, it is clear that ggs has completely misinterpreted the value the players give to things like water, karma balls, charms etc. This needs to be re balanced (!) by ggs, and not just for the fish market, but for the organic market, the captains boat etc.
