I've been reading and following this thread and hoping for some kind of feedback from GG$.
Then one of the worst things that could have happened did happen, One of our co-op members has stopped playing.  :'(

I wonder if GG$  Management will wake up soon and smell the roses, or will they be grovelling in the dung ?

The result of a false impression of the dockyard:

The result of upping my cows to a total of 10 sheds, upping my pigs to 3 pigsties and adding a few more apple and cherry orchards.  Choice - yes.  Fault - NO.  I was adjusting my strategy and farms based on the Dockyard as it was because I was under the impression that the Dockyard was here to help players build their farms considering the high cost of upper level buildings and the lab.  I would have to tear out all the work I did on my farms, revert it back to a puny wasteland.  My motivation would shrink even deeper. My time and efforts completely wasted.
Ouch  your farms are not ready to be taking a hit on production costs like this  I understand how it happened all too well  now you have a lot of damage control  good luck hon
  • Been demolishing my farms for the past several days, but I check the fish market to see what's being offered. Seems I'm getting nothing but chum contracts offering no cash, just the worthless in-game trinkets.  I bet I've declined over 30 similar just to see what comes next, and I keep getting similar contracts.

Under the old prices that's $3.34-million for two rakes and two brushes

Thanks artful.  I have not done anything with my farms really, no motivation what-so-ever. Steve showed up today so I decided to upgrade a cowshed.  I pretty much collect for projects and that's about it.  I no longer see any light at the end of the tunnel. I found this game and started playing much later than many people, therefore there are so many farms much more advanced than mine.  THIS I do not have a problem with.  The fact that GG$ has turned Bigfarm into nothing but money-grabbing competitions is the problem.  Also being placed with MUCH higher level farms than my own during coop challenges.  How am I supposed to compete with that?  By adding more cow sheds and pigs?  yes, that is exactly what I did and look at where it has gotten me .... in the red zone.  I was ok with that but now that the income from the DSF has drastically changed in a blink of an eye, I can no longer afford it.  My "balance" is sooo off-balance.  This has had "a negative effect on [my] game and [my] enjoyment of it."
This is what I am up against:  Does this really seem "BALANCED" to anyone?

from Farm laboratory. And you will have no money problem. Instead you will level up more faster.

Well, I hope you used some of your DSF profits to upgrade your laboratory to where you can make Premium Fertilizer (at which level you can also make premium feed.)  If you managed that, the costs on your main farm are not increased by that much and you can make good profit even with your happiness all the way in the red.

@Shay1968 (US1)  had a look at your farms, I guess you need more space for decos my friend ;)
I would leave the cows alone - milk missions besides field crazy wildflowers pay the most reputation points.
I see you like your apples ;) that's good, but in our situation with no extra income, let the lvl1 Orchards go - you mainly need apples for the Bakery, boat and some events and you can make it without having as many apple/ cherry orchards. Level-up the higher onces & demo  low.
What's "killing" your happiness is the number of houses needed to support , those endless fields - too many, good idea for missions, but lvl1 gold field not great, small yield - very expensive to upgrade.
Have you looked at your co-ops higher levels?  10 fields is considered good. 10-12 is at max, anything more than 12 you will be plastered by houses just to supply field-workers.
Same with duckies - it's ambitious to have a full farm of ducks, but you have to feed them & you have to grow produce for feed.
This was a common mistake of a lot of people, as soon as fishing started making money - they let go of all decos and expanded, build-up all farms with production buildings. This works if you lvl200++ & you a Brat Packer, lol  (cheers Brats gals & guys) - your produce pays for the farm, it's not working well for lower levels.

Sorry to say, not your fault (so sorry :( ) - demo time sounds the best.

While I realize there is no cost associated with using Premium feeds & ferts, we still have to look at the cost to make the regular fertilizer before we can turn it into Premium. We also have to look at the cost to turn wheat into cow feed before converting it to Premium feed in order to get the dung needed to make the Premium fertilizer.

I honestly could care less about leveling up fast, it does me absolutely no good.  For what? To be grouped with higher ranking players? I am already there.  To achieve levels to buy more land or higher upgrades for buildings?  I cannot afford them anyway.  For me, there is absolutely no reason to level up quickly in this game.

Also upgrading the lab does help off-set the amount needed to make premium items, but you first have to have the cash to upgrade the lab otherwise you need MORE of the items to make less output.

So I am back to square one.

Unfortunately no, I did not use my DSF profits to upgrade my lab. I was trying to reinvest my profits back into my fleet of boats with upgrades for those.  I had left my fish in inventory as my safe deposit box for these funds. I was at level 129 and pushing to get to level 130 to upgrade my fleet.  :'(  I currently only have about 5mil in farm cash and well over $1 billion in inventory for just fish alone, plus more in chum inventory. (At original pricing)

My production cost is +432 and I need 32.000 dollars to turn wheat into cow feed. But its nothing when I sell my milk and my apples. I have 15 apple trees and 12 cow stables. So yes the profits are much bigger than my expenses. I hope you upgrade the lab as fast as you can. When I had decorations I couldn't win any event. Now I always have 5-8 gold cards and I don't need to buy gold anymore.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful and helpful input and suggestions.  I do appreciate it.

I am not real sure if I am going to do anything with my farms.  I have upgraded a few stables in case I decide to continue to play I can have more from one stable while tearing down others.

I am just so disappointed in GG$.  I am supposed to progress in this game. I have taken a very hard hit and in order to play and make a profit, I would have to regress.  This is not very appealing to me.  Just the harsh feelings of the way GG$ handled this entire fiasco really makes it hard to even want to play anymore.  When you put so much time and effort into something and someone comes along and spits on it, you have to step back and ask yourself .... why even bother?  It is very possible it could happen again given this companies reputation.

We were screwed over one challenge ago when we could not have a 10 hour boosters, did we get compensated no, GGS excuse but didn't address so they stole from us , and now the boat and fishing "thing" again taking from us   Really someone needs to teach good business in keeping people happy. They have turned the fishing into the horses bs.  I do not waste my time on horses temp farms now I will not on the boats.  Everyone will be loosing interest except for the people who have made real friends or the ego people who want to be top best or number 1.. GGs needs to listen to what is being said and stop thinking totally of what they can make like everyone one we want a good deal now and again.. GGS is giving nothing..

GGS put the DSF back as it was UNTIL you figure out this big mess you made!

As you have said in your official announcement, "The amount of dollar rewards available as a temporary effect was not an issue but if this were continuous it would have had a negative effect on your game and your enjoyment of it."

There is absolutely NO reason you cannot leave it a bit longer while you clean this mess up and figure out a better solution.

Sure there is a lot of feedback already in this thread, but here is something that can be added

1 - revise the market contracts, include farm cash

    2 - re-balance the deep sea pools

    3 - re-instate direct fish sales

ARE you kidding me 2 drops of WATER!!!!!!That's worth sending a boat out for !!! LOL !!<------sarcastically!!!

ROFL - @Thorim (US1) you to smart for your own good, as soon as the next farm was named "volcanic", I scratched my head and thought "this is just asking for an accidental accident" & constant rebuild, sorta like temporary Islands but non-stop, LOL
Lets say once a month the volcano erupts, you got lava covering most of the land bbq-ing your livestock, all workers die from fumes & ash inhalation, the houses get either burned or covered by basaltic rock as a post-process from magma cooling.
And we get to start over again ....yey!! (sarcastically) & spend millions of dollars (or / and gold) - yippie !!!

To be honest with the announcement & hot-fix for release of Volcanic farm, I would like to request a disclaimer from GGS, putting in writing the farm produce, produce prices will NOT undergo drastic, bankrupt changes.
    Cheers :)

Boy, BigFarm can suck the fun out of anything, can't they?

Last couple of days, I started sending out boats again.  What used to be an exciting and challenging part of the game is now as boring as clicking endlessly on wildflower fields so you can come in last in a wildflower mission.  (It's even more boring than making nails, if you can believe it!)

Since my fish are worthless unless I get lucky enough to be dealt a contract that asks for them, since any boats I send out today aren't going to return until late tomorrow anyway, since you can't fish a pool out quickly enough to do you any good (hey, they're going to re-spawn in 24 hours, which is only a few hours after my boats will be back)  there's no point in figuring out how to crew them.  So I just add 5 Roys by rote and send them out to whatever pool happens to be closest to my mouse.  Whoopee!  That was sure fun.

Yes, I know I'm spending $75,000 for my Roys, but my farms make enough money that a few million one way or the other doesn't concern me.  And, better yet, I can look forward to one day maybe being able to sell those fish for 2 waters or a curry brush!

    GoodGame Rhapsody

    So sad but so true.

If you really like the game at all just play the parts you like ignore the rest and hang on for the ride to the end because it is beyond clear it is coming.

It certainly looks like it.  If you buy gold, you might want to just buy a little at a time, because you aren't getting it back if they shut down.
They have shut down at least 3 games that I know of already, then this past Jan they laid off 200 people. If you look at the glassdoor review it is not good. Employee's are saying management dose not listen and makes poor choices.

I buy gold but I do so knowing I am not getting it back no matter what GGS dose or dose not do. I only buy what I use right away now just in case.

When I started to play this game 4+ years ago it was fun. I felt I was always on the move. Not with competition as I am not a lover of that part of the game at all, but with being able to win decos and build and upgrade. Then it became boring to me because it was apparent I would never be able to complete anything. Not all upgrades, not the deco tower, temp farms. Just cold not finish everything never had the farm dollars.

I should point out I went from buying 100.00 in gold a month and playing hours daily to just logging in daily watering trees and back out. Only put in 2 days of any real game play and that was just to help my coop with projects. Did not bother to buy gold unless the coop needed it.

Then the game came to life again for me with the boat fishing. I started to buy gold like I use to and play for hours again. The extra farm cash let me play more of the game like the temp islands and do upgrades. I felt like maybe I could get some place with it again.

Now I am back to hardly play and only buy gold to help coop when it is needed for research spots.   I am back to feeling what is the point I will never be able to finish anything. Do not want to play temp farms if I can not get to the end. No light at the end of the tunnel on anything other than the weekly events and I am sick of them after 4 years.

How do I delete a quote?  I wanted to only quote a portion of Stef7s comment about not buying any more gold that this was the last day to play....but I got all of Artful's too...so I tried to delete what I could....It is just that until I know for sure what is going to happen with this BF game (I am concerned that it too is going down the tubes), there is no way I am investing any more money into it...there are other forms of more sure entertainment.  I don't like the thought of all that waste.  Money in my household does not come easy.
