within the next 25 - 47 hours,  when it becomes less than 24 hours, it will show the exact time in the event.

I would also like to pass on my thanks to 露草:tuyukusa (JP1) for that fantastic chart of fish amount per time. What a great help that is. I will certainly be using it every time this event comes around. Cheers. :)

yeah that  drop cost me a lot of places would have been in top 50 but as it is im down to 66 and on clams for 13 hours at 5 per second cant collect anymore cos no spots with them in lol

    ps im still fuming lol

two things i learnt  1 is  dont go anywhere near 10 per second and 2 is not to bother doing  the hard work events hehehe
i will just have fun building up my farms instead

j i thought the event was meant to end today, yet the timer is still saying 1 day - no 24 hour countdown has kicked in yet

    anyone know what's going on?
  • Well I don't even know where the first item is to be found or how to get it. I click the show me arrow, send boats to that spot, and nothing.  Not a single one since it started.

I really don't care much for the whole fishing thing.   BTW….. what exactly is the chum used for?
Shrimp chum for example.  Is it made FROM shrimp?  Or used to catch MORE shrimp?
Doesn't seem to do anything.  And as usual, the game offers NO suggestions what so ever.

And please, no one bother sending me to pages that read like college courses with spread sheets and all that.  This is suppose to be a simple game.

So I just keep sending boats, they catch a single shrimp for each trip.   Tried with and without a crew, no difference I can see.   Just boring.
@Artmaker (GB1) When you equip your boat for a trip, if you look at the details below the equipment slots, you can workout exactly how many fish you are going get, before the boat even leaves.

The 3 main things to look at, are:
    • Storage - How many fish your boat can carry
    • Fish per hour - How many fish you catch in an hour
    • Fishing time - How long your boat will continue to fish

If you do not use any equipment (or crew) & the basic settings for your boat say that you will catch 2 fish per hour, and the fishing time is less than 1 hour, then you will only catch 1 fish.

To catch more fish, you can add crew (or chum) to increase the number of fish per hour or you can add crew to increase the amount of time that you spend fishing or a combination of both.

As you increase the amount of fish that you are going to catch, always keep an eye on your storage, to make sure that you have room to carry them all, if not, you can add freezers.

If you are sending your boat to a location that has more than one type of fish, it will catch equal quantities of each type, but if you only want to catch one type that is at that location, you can add the specific equipment for that type of fish (for example a bent rod for swordfish)

If you still have some empty equipment slots when your boat is ready to go, you can add some of the 3rd type of crew, which will reduce the travel time (to & from) the location & make your overall trip quicker.

There are several posts claiming that it is better to use extra crew instead of Chum, you can decide that for yourself, but Chum is profitable to sell & also produces seaweed as a bi-product, so it is worth making even if you do not use it for fishing.

That is just the basics, once you see how it works you can look at other things such as hazard protection & work out your own personal strategy. As your boats get better, they have higher basic settings & more slots, so you will be able to catch larger quantities of fish in one trip.

I passed on your questions about the time drop from 9 points to 10 & as expected, it is intentional & how the event has always worked. 10 points is meant to be a short boost, not somewhere you can sit for hours at a time, otherwise everyone would just be on 10 points for the whole event & there would be no competition.

The balancer agrees that the drop from 9 to 10 is a drastic one, however, the suggested "fix" would be to make the transition from 8 to 10 more even, which would reduce how long you could run at 9 points. I suspect that you would prefer it to be left as it is now, (I know I would) - Post your comments & as always we will pass them on. :)

If those are the only 2 choices, then I would definitely prefer to leave it as it is now. :)
  • going off subject a bit but still about the dock yard.
before  we got the dock yard i used to struggle to keep a dollar balance of around 30 million due to upgrading and stuff, since it appeared it has paid for 5 plots on my main farm of which i now own all the plots available plus its paid for 4 more cow sheds and 5 more apple orchards, 4 more plots on my second farm and 2 on my 3rd farm, and im 4,000 dollars away from now having a dollar balance of 300 million dollars,

this is so not like GGS lol  has me wondering if some other company  made it ;)

    i love the dock yard

Thanks for looking into this. It's appreciated.

Personally whilst I like the transition from 8 to 10 to be more even to not seem like you're stepping off a cliff (which is what made it seem broken), and would encourage more variation of speed and competition in the top ranks (and make people work harder for the top ranks) - having one event where people can acquire the gold mining licenses (those who can only log in once a day specifically) is of great benefit to them and thus I'd agree with leaving things as they are.

I'm still curious about why going from difficulty 8 to 9 is only about three times more difficult, but 9 to 10 is some eighty (80!!) times more difficult. As I said before it's like stepping off a cliff after a minor decline. I imagine this won't be the last time people encounter it and wonder if it's broken though!

    Fabulous Chart...  Thanks.

Seems as if everyone in UK is at speed 9, as we are all firmly set in our positions relative to each other.   I've been stuck in second place since the start, and the gap only changes when we change fishes...

Might give speed 10 a try though...!

I found FHW's numerical data in Hungary.
but, these data are written in MS seconds.
so, I tried to make a table using these figures. :)
I think that the calculated figures have some errors.(may by 30 to 60min).

    (xls format)
    Coolest.

    Chart.

    Ever.

    :)

    ありがとうございました !!!

    I agree! Thank you @露草 (JP1)  :*

I can't give any extensive feedback as I play very little these days and haven't had any time to collect any data on amounts and speeds etc, but for me FHW is generous enough, maybe even way too generous to the point that I would advocate adding rewards beyond GML. Have reached GML reward yesterday with still more then a day to go, and already have a lot more points then I ever had on normal HWE, and that without putting half the playing time to it, just a little smart thinking and planning.

Has management changed? Cause the game seems to have jumped from one ditch to another ditch. From extremely stingy to extremely generous. Both extremes can spoil the game play and create problems for future developement. In fact generous dollar income from deep sea fishing has already destroyed major part of farming strategy. I have a lot of thoughts and observations in this regard, just no time to analyse every detail, type it and post it.

Anyway, extremely steep drop from 9 to 10 can actually be seen as an advantage, a usefull part of timing strategy for occasions when you're running on speed 9 and want to go to next crate quickly before leaving home for long time to avoid long hours on zero if current crate is due to finish soon. No complaints regarding this from me for now. :)

    Thanks everyone  :)
I am surprised that there was a lot of reaction, and relieved that yesterday's data seems to be no big mistake.

    appendix:
further I found ordinary HWE figures in Hungarys another web-site.
The description method is the same.

    (xls format)

    note : added :sec time(per one) * 60 = added: min time(per one)

I still haven't been able to start it because it hasn't given me a place to fish for oysters yet. I guess I wasn't suppose to participate. I really wish they would fix this because it also means that I can't get shrimp for the regular task so I can move to the next one.

I just wish all the fish had long term hours at the 10 pt./min.  I have lobsters running at 9 pt./min for the next 17 hrs. and a bunch of boats filled with more lobsters, but I am concerned that if I harvest them, my hours will drop drastically and I will be forced into the next fish (Shrimp..which I have none),  The next item after shrimp is swordfish which is also an extreme short term silo process and is over 11 hrs before coming to port....I would like to free up my lobster boats without diminishing my 9 pt./min to less than 1 hrs before silo runs dry.  Rowdy, will you ask GGS to allow more processing time on swordfish, salmon, and cod to be just like they are for herring and tuna?  o:)

22 hours is nothing. I couldnt even start the event til late evening of the 2nd day. No Oysters after many times clearing pools..Basically excluded me from a high finish and I am still trying for the GML...

With the times of the packs being so extremely long in the FHWE, I actually like that hitting a 10-point pack almost instantly finishes that product.  When I get several boats with the next fish ready to come in - I can harvest the last few to push my pack to 10 and change to the new product just as I am ready for it.  Bug or feature?  You decide.

I can see the logic behind the way it is set up. I agree, everyone would just blast through to level 10 and leave it there,  this way it gives some of the risk taking players a little edge to try and advance into the top 50.  However, it just seems like such a drastic drop that it really puts the player in shock.  Perhaps a warning might ease the blow until people get use to it :)  I mean a real warning on the popup event screen window itself. On level 9 it says, "Keep it up! Don't let the funnel go empty now". Maybe it should say instead, "You are approaching level 10, CAUTION: This contraption is old and rickety, proceed to level 10 at your own risk and expect it to only handle level 10 for a VERY short time".  This may help the confusion of the drastic drop. Because as it stands now, the current statement seems to encourage proceeding to level 10.

PS. I don't necessarily agree or disagree with the way it is setup.  I guess I am fine with it.  It was just such a drastic drop, I think it completely shocked me.  At least I know now from experience to prepare differently.

In the meantime, I am drinking my freshly squeezed lemonade and still going for the money fish (swordfish) even though a shrimp hole did open up.

Thank you WascallyWabbit for looking into this for the concerned players.

Quite so! I'm glad it was looked at a second time to reassure us.

Also ... try freshly squeezed shrimp-ade chum. I've got bushels to spare.

@Scifi (GB1) - I shake my fist at your 9 points whilst I tried running at 10 points and falling flat on my proverbial face. Twice I was in second place, twice I tried lobsters and salmon at 10. Much wiser now. C'est la vie. Still, I'll nip at your heels right at the end!  ;)

I would thank you for this valuable threads for a few things

1- thanks to you , I saved my rank at top 5 players, cause I did not know b4 that salmon and lobster acted in an odd way when comparing them to tuna and herring when jump from 9 to 10 points rate. and they both were next on my boxes so to make it short, I would have moved them to 10 points and lose my rank but now I am at 9 points and saved  the day

2- for inspiring tuyukusa (JP1), to give us this nice charts so BIG thanks to him/her and to the original author in Hungarian forum  ( bty what a player from japan server was doing in Hungarian forum is beyond me . lol just kidding )

3- what I liked the most is your ability to ignore negative comments, and ignoring is what they deserve. so thank you for that silent lesson too

finally please WascallyWabbit  tell the developer to leave the event as it is now the idea of making it more hard from 8 to 9 points is not nice. the other farm hard work event is hard enough so leave this one fairly easy.and keep most of us smiling :D

My issue with the Fishing version of Hard Worker apart from the obvious (no fish pools of required fish) is the lack of reward after the 1.2 million points are achieved. Some players on my server now have well over 2 million, whats the point? I understand rank 1 and 2, even 2-5 have reasonable rewards but 6-50 is a boat most of us can easily buy and upgrade outside the event. I would like to see more hard work rewards between the 1.2-and 2.5 million point mark......might keep things interesting  :)
  • im still at a loss to understand the drop off from 9 to 10,
tuna 9 per second for 14 hours move to 10 per second and got  7 hours

i was totally wiped out with time on lobsters 9 per second  24 hours  10 per second 45 minutes

down in the 80's ranking wise because of this

doesnt make any sense to me

but  i guess ggs know best
