  • I think the village (and edge plants) will be unplayable for me as long as they have this edge plant penalty that will not run down unless something is planted. I was unhappy about the lack of decorations to increase village happiness, although I was willing to give that some time in the hope that the decoration lady in the purple truck would be modified to allow village happiness to be added to a decoration. However, the negative impact on my farms from the edge plant penalty far outweighs any good that I can see from the village. My co-op does not have the job center built and the loss of time and money to get enough edge plants to make the supplies to build it is just not worth it.

    At this point, the frustration stemming from village production is enough to stop me from bothering with the village. I will have to see if the frustration of not being able to create the things on my farm that depend on village supplies is equally frustrating. If so, I will probably be looking for a new game. I am hoping GGS changes this current punitive approach to gaming before I reach that point. I am not masochistic enough for this change to be enjoyable.
  • I especially hate that edge plant production is proportional in the extreme. If I plant corn and spruce, sure I only get a small amount of both. The ONLY way for this to be profitable is to plant EPs with long growing crops. I can't afford 10-14 hours for the 2nd planting to give me negligible quantities of crops and under 6 amounts of EPs castoffs!

    :# I hate this newest development with the edge crop penalties.   With all of the new developments it is very hard to maintain a workable bank balance and still be able to help with the village too.  Lower level players are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to growing their farms because all of the new items that need building and upgrading.  And then pile the penalties on top yet?  greedy much?

    Not only is this unfair to lower level players, but I predict that it will become burdensome to the higher level players who will probably end up shouldering the bulk of the edge crop plantings...  Please.  If you're going to make it so the clock only runs when the fields are growing, at LEAST lower the penalty.

    And while I am at it, I have also sent several complaints about the dock time of the village boat.  It is making it harder for everyone in the coop to participate because most of us are in bed!  surely the dock time can be adjusted by 3 hours at least!

    ^ Is this stated incorrectly?

    I sow corn, then 2 minutes before the corn is ready to harvest I sow an edge plant.
    My penalty time is 2 minutes and NOT the 5 minute from the corn.
    The penalty time is equal to the growing time of whatever EDGE PLANT was harvested.

    ^ Or another GGS error?

    My fields on all 3 farms are still been penalized from edge crops I planted yesterday over 24 hours ago . On FF timer is not moving . HW wants field crops. No chance getting stuff for HW while this is happening .

    Lesley  this is the way GGS intended this to work  your penalty is =to growing time of whatever you last planted. It will not go away until you plant things.  Now people are very disheartened with this I think GGS has made a very bad error in judgement with the numbers here.  Would be happy to hear how they came up with this as a reasonable measurement that will not discourage players from playing the game anymore.  Wish the news was better.

    Why don't you just put fields on the village map and have them be used to grow what is needed for the village. It would solve all the problems. It would not interfere with regular farming and I think more people would work on it. It would be like the flower farm or a permanent island.

    I build the job center and it is way to expensive to use all the time, and if you spend 74,000 it is only good for 1 field. I am level 197 and there is no way I can spend that kind of money and keep up for 18 fields.

    My lower level players can not money wise keep up and it is 10 times worse now with the new way the timers works on the fields, so we as a coop will no long do anything with the village.

    Edge Plants & penalties were already enough of a PITA without having to make them this much more difficult & time consuming to get rid of. I don't mind the job centre mechanic making them QUICKER to get rid of, but the penalty timer should always be running, even with nothing planted.

    Just like with pranks - you don't have to have something planted to get rid of the prank, once you start the repair it continues to run even with nothing planted.

    There is still a background overlap with the background from a different farm. Can't do screen shots to show.

    There are not enough village dollars.  I transfer 5-7 times per day.  I can't get enough of them.  The transfer rate of village dollars must be changed.

    Me too. My cheapest is 146,000 village dollars!

    So I did some math on the new bronze mystery box that can be made with chum at the laboratory.

    The 54 required chum have a production cost of $8,424, and a production time of 38.7 hours.

    You will need 54 oysters, 342 clams, and 450 shrimp to make the chum. The total sell value of these is  $2,715,498.

    Collecting required 54 oysters, 342 clams, and 450 shrimp is harder to add. It depends on the boats and equipment used. But I think a fleet of trawlers could do it in about 12 hours. Assuming enough fishing holes are available.

    The lab cost to make the bronze mystery box is $10,000, and the production time is 6 hours.


    The equipment you'll need for the trawlers:

    Large Freezer - $31,200 each - you will need several on each trawler ( and you will need several trawlers)

    Roy - $15,000  each - you will need a few of him on each trawler.

    Victor - $26,000 each - just one should be enough per trawler.

    So at least 56 hours, and around $3,800,000.

    That Bronze mystery box better have 100 gold mystery boxes inside it.

    Actually, that's a pretty good deal, except maybe for the time requirement.



    $3.8 Million for any one of the above items is a pretty good bargain.

    Thanks for the calculations woodenskull. I was starting to think making the bronze mystery box seemed like a waste of time and money and you confirmed that. The costs would be worthwhile for a silver or gold box but there are cheaper ways of getting seaweed feed.

    Southern what you didnt post was all the premium pig feed chicken feed those prizes come way more often than seaweed, i have so many sunflower seeds it is ridiculous.  I could care less about making mystery boxes but glad you will be able to make them. I also don't play the lottery bird in the hand thinking.  MY question is  why are they making this like a second job  where is the FUN in this now  this is causing more dissension in the coops,  the penalty is too much it is driving people away from coop village they have had enough. This whole job center is a cokamamie idea that i will never use  hate the whole concept yet as a coop member am expected to contribute to which i have up to this point as a member but not going forward.  GGS Please rework this how can we sell it too coop members when we HATE IT.

    Those are from the 'Regular' mystery boxes (with the stars on the front of them).  I haven't gotten any of that stuff from the actual BRONZE boxes. The 5 items listed above is all I've received from the Bronze ones since they "rebalanced" them a couple months ago.

    Now the REGULAR Mystery Boxes, yeah.. I've received a ton of "Junk" from those (but some good stuff too, like 300 gold in a few of 'em).



    (Yeah, just noticed I've got a couple of duplicates in there, I'll have to go in there next time I open a bunch of boxes and clean it up a little) :)

    The changes to the edge plant penalties are not a bug  - Some of you may recall that this is how they were originally designed to be, but they did not work as intended & were temporarily changed, until the addition of the Job center. We (the mods) were not informed that this change would be in the update, so our apologies for it not being included in the announcement. :(

    I think it's terrible, it took me over twelve (12!!!) hours of intermittent play to recover from overnight edge plants. Needless to say this is not conducive to participating in the hard worker event, the theme events, nor the missions so definitely not good for the CC.

    Edit:

    I forgot to add in the lost 'opportunity costs'. Not having your fleet harvesting high value swordfish, salmon, and cod for 12 hours could easily add another $ 10 million + to the cost of the mystery box.


    I am making those chums for those boxes with incidental crustaceons collected.  Once you have larger boats as a fleet, there is no lost opportunity to collect swordfish or other fish, that I can see.  The financial costs remain, but by gathering the crustaceons, I am not ever losing out on swordfish, and by emptying the location, the crustaceons go away, and I might actually get swordfish faster.  So in my fishing, that opportunity cost is not present.

    why couldnt we just have a special field that only grows edge plants as a main crop 
    all i see is another way for ggs to upset a lot of its players, new players will take one look at the game as it is now and  just pack in and so will a lot of regular players,

    GGS  should at least consult its players before bringing in stuff like this
    i have stopped planting edge plants and have no intention of using so called specialists from the job centre .the whole village idea is turning into a white elephant

    i just want to play at farming to relax not play it as a full time 24/7 job and def not have to buy gold just to make my fields work again

    my feedback is talk to players you send us surveys but dont do anything with the results,
    when you ask do i think this game is good value for money i always answer NO but you still keep these crazy gold prices,  act on the results you get or you will end up loosing yet another game you made 

    you create a village that  needs constant upgrading to get anywhere you give us a village boat that cost an arm and a leg  to repair for  not so good rewards, you give is a village stable where we can send a level 40 horse around over 25 times  using lots of items  that cost a lot to make and  i end up with a level 44 foal thats a joke. you do all this with out releasing any descent decor with  half descent village happiness the only one that you did  try to sell was for  an outrageous cost of 360,000 gold. 

    time for a reality check im an average person who plays this game ( and it is a game) to relax i work 3 nights a week  fri to sun 12 hour shifts  i earn on average £270 a week do you honestly think for one second that i am going to blow  around £150 of my hard earned money on a decor that you price at 360,000 gold if i did that i would commit myself to an insane asylum,

    you are just taking all the enjoyment out of what used to be a really good game to play, i used to recommend this game to my friends but now i wouldnt even think about doing that, a lot of new business is created by word of mouth keeping players happy promotes that,

I assure you that I have no other mystery box in my inventory (of any kind).   Did anyone get the same message ? ... And notice the money offered for it ;)

    This is not good news - I think there will be many unhappy players.  It makes using edge crops overnight a thing of the past, unless you want to spend 6hours planting/harvesting wildflowers or corn - planting anything else is money down the drain.

    Oh, and where are we to find these mechanics ??   If we are to hire them from the job centre then my previous post explains that it will take forever to even BUILD the darn thing let alone hire mechanics! 



    Totally agree with above with one addition: The reality as many are finding out is if you go the corn/wildflower route to save money it takes a lot longer than six hours to clear because most folks can't/won't sit at their computer for 6 hours ready to harvest/replant every 2-5 minutes. It currently makes trying to get the HW, weekly event, and village challenge all finished implausible. Too many events that hit your fields heavy all at once.

    Total disaster, can't continue to play the game this way, the way it worked before was good. I used to plant wheat with edge plants before work and bed so by the time I harvested my timer had run down.  Now my timer starts to run down for 6 hours from when I harvest as long as I am there to plant continuously or plant wheat again which I don't want.  Everything else has been great but this ruins the village totally and infact all the game play for me.

    ok so if i understand this correctly  these cost  in the region of  3.4 million dollars to  make in catching fish and  stuff  and GGS value it at 1 thousand dollars?

    I've been trying to find a way to successfully work with the new edge plant rules and just can't come up with one.

    What I'm doing now is growing edge plants ONLY on corn, and only have the spare field time to do that a couple of periods a day.

    And today I found a new wrinkle in this problem.  I was growing a couple of special cabbage fields for a co-op project and (stupidly) making edge plants on corn in the other fields.  Guess what happened?  Yep.  Managed to add edge plants to the cabbage before I realized what was in the field I was clicking.  Two fields now ruined for the day.  The mistakes that can now be made are COSTLY!
  • two big updates one is so good i cant begin to say how much i love the new dock yard this addition to the game is most welcome and for a week showed GGS in a totally new light to me,
    before the dock yard came a long my dollar balance  used to  be around 30-40 million dollars which was fine  with me gave me money to spend on a few upgrades but now with the dock yard my disposable dollars that i  can play with are in excess of 200 million dollars, this  was a very generous addition and i love it i really cant stress that enough....
    then
    they go and ruin my opinion of GGS lol i hate the new way edge crops work and have zero interest in the job centre i just dont have time to do this, the whole village idea just doesnt do anything for me,

    i enjoy the village league it promotes team work with in  our co-op and if you dont want to defend your position you just dont  collect and let the other team win hey ho nothing lost,

    village stables i now dont bother with i can breed a better horse in my own stables.
    village boat sucks to be honest what it costs to repair or stuff i need to donate for personal reward is too much plus i sometimes miss the  time  when i should collect it anyway.

    so how can GGS get one thing soooooooooooooooo right  ( dock yard ) and another thing sooooooooooooo wrong.

    i will  just continue as i have over the yrs and pick and choose but being part of a great co-op and a great team some players will start to feel that they are letting down their team mates this is sad,

    congrats on the dock yard GGS absolutely brilliant addition to the game :))))))))

    WascallyWabbit and @Pichu ... can you, please, help me with an advice on this issue ?  I have my laboratory blocked since noon because I really don't want to sell the mystery box (for which I've worked so hard ;) )  with 1.000 dollars.  Which storage is it about ?
