i dont profess to understand how games are developed or created so this will prob make no sense at all but.
the main reason why GGS say they wont do anything about this is because it would mean we would have to click more to cancel gold spending by mistake this would have a big impact on the co-op challenge aspect of the game, collecting by skipping with gold would be slowed down a lot by adding extra clicks, if two players are using gold the extra clicks would come into play fingers get tired, missing the buttons and so on, but  i dont see any problem with incorporating an option into the game settings that would allow players to enable or disable gold use with in their own game, one that can be set when you want to use it or not,

GGS make money from our  mistakes accidental clicking is common place with in the game and this is only my opinion so please dont attack me  lol BUT some things  seem to be designed so we spend gold by mistake skip buttons placed where seed selection is or fertilizer selection is placed, orchards are a good example of this i do sometimes get caught out by this and its not cheap,( edited to add this  we as players have a habit of grouping things together in blocks this does make accidental skipping  with orchards very easy to do) BUT it is easy money for GGS so dont expect anything to ever be done to stop us spending gold by mistake.

easy options to avoid this is dont buy gold lol
use caution when clicking gold is never refunded
imagine some one sat in the GGS office saying to a colleague  i just got another one  target this month almost reached :)

just put it down to bad luck and carry on

i used to buy gold on a regular basis when i had cash spare to play with but GGS havent done themselves any favours over the past 12 months or so to keep me as a gold buying player, i havent seen any gold bonus offers like the 150% or 200% extra gold or a combination of gold  bonus offer + bonus deal packs  on screen at the same time like they used to be, if i had a seaweed offer on screen and a gold bonus offer popped up at same time i would then buy gold, i now play with gold i  get from the game itself cos im tight ;) but if the old offers came back i would look at buying gold again , i need incentives free stuff lol, the new style deals i get dont even make me think of buying any gold sorry GGS

I do expect them to change it. If it is as you say, GGS act in an immoral way and steal from their customers. It wouldn't take you long to stop shopping at a grocery where they cheat you every other time you go there, right? :)
  • I like the post from andyhudson, it is almost 100% correct, but what about the pop ups warning us that we not bought the event deco, is that itself not slowing the game down ? of course it is but it could get GGS a sale. I do not believe they will change things because they will lose revenue, and let us be honest.. GGS do not think logically like most players. These "special" events that we get , all song and dance about them, but they get pushed to the back by the common weekly events or co-op challenge or hardworker. I have almost stopped buying Gold, so that i cannot be cheated out of it, yes i want to upgrade some blue houses and the dogs, but not risking the chance of being cheated out of the gold, and then listening to the excuses of why its been cheated out on me.   o:)

I just accidentally spent 2000 gold to rename a horse. Completely didn't realize that I was spending gold. Definitely needs a confirm button. Maybe even an option that you can turn on and off in the settings that asks for confirmation.

I am careful of the blue buttons, but this didn't require a blue button. You just click the regular save button.
  • It happened again. Listen to us goodgame!

I have said  this before... we buy gold with RL money (and get our purchase)  or accumulate it thru the game as bonuses. Once we have it, it is nothing more than in-game currency like Farm Cash... we do not get asked if we want to spend our farm cash and we will not get a button to confirm if we want to spend our gold...
  • OMG twice in one day!

Happened to me recently.   The library thing just happened to appear RIGHT as I'm planting corn for a mission.   Just happened to appear where the curser was as I clicked and boom, 490 gold gone.

As expected, support's answer was too bad so sad… but we'll pass your feedback along to the team.
    Swell.

Here… an oldie but a goodie.   Just a small snipit, but it sure does explain this game to perfection.

Too funny! Goodgamestudios must have used this as their gaming model.
  • I agree we can't give up!
  • Bigfarm really need a Gold spending confirm box in case the player spends them accidentally. It's really annoying losing the gold that you didn't mean to, for a dozen times. :s
  • weve asked for this till were blue in the face,  dont expect it to  be done  after all its free gold spending for ggs
do they  care nah not one bit lol

You can be as careful as anything, and it still will happen.  The latest is when the time lag causes it.  You think you've planted something, it looks like you didn't, so you click again only this time you hit that odious blue "skip" arrow.  Goodbye gold.
  • best solution to  stop this happening is to stop buying gold till ggs  sort it out ;)

I don't buy gold.  But I need every last coin I earn/win, and it stinks when it disappears, even when being careful.

When I was relatively new to the game, I had managed to amass about 10,000.  (This was back when we could earn more daily.)  Through a glitch, not my carelessness, it disappeared.  Customer service did nothing.  From that moment on, I vowed not to buy any until safeguards were in place.  Still waiting.

when the new look wheel was introduced that put the 'gold' button in the same place you use to activate your farm items, there were many comments asking GGS to change this (i believe when it was doing the rounds on the testing servers, players had already brought this up before it was even implemented)

which kinda leaves me the only option of thinking it's a deliberate, and cynical, placement that wont get changed

in a very similar vein, when the big fat *** ads pop up in the middle of the screen and you're clicking away on your fields in a mission or whatever, ive been sooooooooooooo close to it activating a gold item on offer - there literally is no warning or time delay between you clicking on your field and the ad popping up right on your click, that's nothing to do with error on the player's part and being told to be more careful doesn't fly as it literally just places itself over the object you're clicking at the instant your clicking

so yeah, they should sort that out as well - ie dont pop them up like that, just stick them up top, we're not blind

@Corvid (GB1) There is a delay on the pop-up offers, the buy button is greyed out when they appear, but we do have a request in for the delay to be increased. :)

oh yes definately it can.  I haven't had the lag happen to me yet, but i know for me, when i go click happy and go to fast that is when i tend to lose gold.  And yes it is very annoying!

@WascallyWabbit  fyi - i've just had the favourite offers (Sweet Deal) pop up and ALL gold buttons were immediately live, ie not greyed but active

this is the first offer pop up ive been able to check since the above exchange but as stated, there was certainly no delay whatsoever

i notice if you click on the menu button to bring up the sweet deal offer, the buttons are greyed out for a second (literally), this was not the case when it initially popped up

  • It will not be changed, GGS knew exactly what they were doing when they introduced it, the thing about the greyed out area, its a bit like trying to spot Elvis on the back of his flying pig. What will be the reply if you click on use Gold, "there is a delay you must have clicked after the delay ended, now go away and spend some gold" Not having a delay or having a very short delay amounts to the same thing, players clicking on use gold and GGS turning a blink eye to it. There is that much stuff loading onto our computors from Big Farm, which means lots of lag. Oh so the short delay is used up by the time the lag ends ! This problem and the arguments could have been sorted a few years ago, simply by GGS adding failsafes, that is one of the reasons I believe most "bugs" are deliberate... simply because most "bugs" benefit GGS. o:)  o:)
  • hi, i have lost my precious gold 3 times already, which is hard to collect, i think there should be pop-up message saying "do you really want to use gold" the last 200 gold i lost now renaming my boat when i get another one boat, i feel that is not fair.
    thank you
  • Okay, the first point is that GGS needs income. This is a good game because real people are paid Real Cash Money to make it better. Any discussion that doesn't keep this thought uppermost, goes nowhere.

The overall business model is freemium: to offer play for free but allow cash purchases to accelerate play and outpace other players. This model is well proven. The large number of free players generates interest, attracting more players; and provides a large pool of potential pay players. A downside is that free players incur overhead. It's in the company's best interest to move as many as possible into the ranks of pay players. This process is called conversion. Any company employing the freemium model needs to think very hard about how to encourage conversion -- it's essential.

In Big Farm, real cash buys 'gold', which in turn buys things (upgrades, chicken feed) which may themselves be of value to a player but, more often, are used to buy other things, etc. Ultimate value differs from player to player. Some want a high 'score' in farmdollars, rank, or reputation points. Some want the challenge of difficult play; some want to follow stories; some want community. Some want to have a big farm!

It's difficult for me to imagine anyone who just wants to have a big pile of game 'gold' -- anyone who might be willing to haul out his wallet and slam down a big wad of real cash so he can point to a little line on screen and say, "Look, I've got 100,000 gold!" There may be some such but my suggestion is: Don't build your business around it. Players who buy gold, buy gold in order to do stuff with it.

Gold purchase (essentially) is non-refundable. Once gold's been bought, GGS has the real cash income; conversion is successful. Now the only question is how to encourage the same player to convert again. Many people will buy gold once on impulse. Before you can hope they'll buy a second time, you need to ensure they feel they got good value on their previous purchase.

Reconversion is critical. Players spend months, continuously, on Big Farm. You do not want one conversion; you want the same players buying gold again and again.

We can see where this is going. It's not just spending gold on this and that; all kinds of actions are liable to misclick, glitch, or may have some other sort of unintentional effect. I constantly click to feed a pig and get an offer to buy more land; or -- well, just now I clicked to harvest chicken feed and found myself in the middle of buying a cherry book! There's just way too much going on, too many things grabbing focus, to be entirely sure what will happen as I play. If that means I accidentally start an 18-hour build of something I can't even staff... oops. If that means I just threw away the equivalent of $10 or $20 of Real Cash Money... I'm angry; and I will not want to take my wallet out again and lay it on the table.

Accidental gold spends especially damage GGS' income because large conversions are better than small ones: better a player spends $50 all at one time than $2.99 here and there. So, wisely, GGS offers extra incentives to buy gold in big lots. But the more gold I buy at one time, the more gold is at risk. One wrong click can wipe out a gold purchase I intended to last for weeks. If that happens, I will not buy more gold to make up the loss. I just won't buy ever again.

Multiple offers to sell the player gold are fine. Multiple opportunities offered to spend that gold are excellent; the more ways I can spend gold on the game, the more likely it is that I'll be able to spend gold to reach my goals, whatever they may be.

Accidents that waste gold on things I don't want scare me and damage GGS' prospects of getting Real Cash Money.

Under settings there could be a spot for gold confirmation... to be turned on or off. That would be no problem.

Indeed, players who have already chosen to buy gold in large quantities, who intend to spend it freely, should see no barrier to that. Players who are a bit more conservative? We need more assurance that we will get what we have already paid to obtain.
Ok, I realize this quote is from 3 years ago, but I believe it needs to be seen again. This is a PERFECT summation of the gold-lock dilemma.
