Starting a new thread to keep it separate from the clutter.

PROs:

1-good mix of HW rewards

2-good mix of items from Omar with a good range of price points

3-lower level players could win some nice items

4-pranks were tolerable – I had only a few 3 back-to-back, and not the 5-, 7-, 9-deep like before.

5-Tanuki much easier to spot.

CONs:

1-more than the top 7 should receive the premium prizes – at least the top 20

2-event would be more enjoyable if it were shorter by a few days

3-coins should carry over until next time, just like temp farms vouchers, etc.

4-transparency needed regarding final winners.  many in the top 7 didn’t receive their prizes and don’t know if this is a mistake, or if they were aced out at the last minute.

All things considered, I give it 9 stars out of 10.  Good job on this one, GGS!

    PRO:
    - Loved the Lucky Coins against Omar's deals with the chance to get a 'hot deal' every once in a while!!! Really great for all players, also the low level players!
    - Loved the whole event in general!

    CON:
    - Sad that the Tanuki stood very visible in the open fields .... missed the fun of my searching game!
    - loved the pranking game as it was before (St Patrick) - the ones of this Golden Week event can hardly be called 'pranks', so missed that fun too
    - Would indeed be better to have transparency about the final outcome, so that we could see at least where the - let's say - 100 final winners ended.

Agree with 9 stars out of 10, just like Artful said. Great event!

Me too! I loved everything about the event...I know next year will be more of a challenge due to being leveled up to the top level grouping.  But by then, maybe my farm will be in even better shape to be competitive with the higher levels.

    LOVED the event.

    HATED Omar.

Sitting here with a timer going off every 10 minutes for 12+ hours a day over 10 days waiting for the prize I desperately wanted was a chore. Yes, I did it - and I'm happy I did - but I didn't enjoy it. Would MUCH have preferred a store-type interface such as the one for the Village League Rewards so I don't have to sit here and babysit a rotating prize selection.

Other than that, I give the event overall 2 big thumbs up. :)

BTW, I never DID see a 4x booster as a Hot Deal or on sale during the event.. Did anyone?

Same here. I loved the event and the concept of the gold coins, but I hate the randomness in Omar. I have been looking like a crazy maniac for the offers for hours and still nothing. I saw the Irish chicken coop very early (almost when the event started) for 54,000 and since then, I have not seen that offer again. I have seen the more expensive Irish chicken coop 3 times within 24h (when I was just few thousands short). It is frustrating to be hours and hours for nothing. Given my luck, I know I will not see it and most likely I will lose all the coins (since if I use them and then I see the offer I will regret it), so in that sense, pretty disappointing. I would rather pay higher prices for not having the randomness, or at least let it be less than 10 minutes wait. Today I feel half of the items I have seen have been island related. That is another minus: they should have been removed when the island ended.

Edit: Here is an idea: implement it as a shop where you can buy in any moment all the items for full price. However, in the background they are running offers continuously, offering every 10 minutes one of the items for a reduced price (you can skip to the next offer as with Omar). Or just have a shop and Omar running simultaneously (in either case the effect is the same).

Edit2: Also, why to take the coins away? Leave them for the next time or at least exchange them for say cash at a certain rate if nothing else.

Edit3: How rare are the top prices? In the last 4 days I have checked over 300 offers (yes, I'm not exaggerating, I have been logged non stop checking offers for hours) and I have not seen any of the Irish chicken coop, nor the beckoning cat, nor the leprechaun house appearance, nor the tea garden with gate. I did catch a some gold boxes (luckily) but that is it. So really, how rare are the rare prices? I still have not given up, but I'm running out of time. More opportunities to catch those prices or faster rotation (10 minutes is a bit too much, and a piece of gold per each 4 seconds for skipping it is way too high) would be extremely welcome.

I didn't get the Irish chicken coop either, Mia11, never caught the hot deal for it, I prolly wasn't around when it came by - I simply don't have the time to sit and stare at my screen for hours .... pity. But spend some wonderful time outdoors and am very happy with my 3 deco's + DTP !!  :)

And that is what you did better than me, and maybe that is why I'm frustrated about (waste of time in front of the screen for nothing). Good that you enjoyed :)

Sorry @Southern (US1) - DTP stands for "Dorpstevredenheidspunten" which means Village Happiness Points in Dutch ....

Sorry that I blundered by using the wrong abbreviation.

No worries, it just had me scratching my head. :)

At least it's shorter than Rindfleischetikettierungsueberwachungsaufgabenuebertragungsgesetz  :)

    I know, I speak German - I know exactly what the  w o r d  means, I can even pronounce it (mind you) -
but never ever saw it before tho!!
  • After a long absence from the game and coming back recently (I haven't seen Santa and christmas/halloween events and St.Patrick event either so I can't really compare this event with those but) I absolutely Loved this event and I hope ggs makes more events like this to give all players a fair chance (even if a bit hard like this event) to win special buildings and special rewards.
What was missing maybe from this event was Gold mining license but then again Tanuki gave me more than 2k gold in total i think, so no complaints from that aspect either.

All in all between all events I seen in big farm, I will give this one a 9 out of 10 too, and the missing 1 point might be only because repeating this event the same format with same prizes "can get tedious" and "lose its shine", but with little tweak every time and adding new prizes(like different special buildings), different decos maybe and etc, It can get a 10 out of 10 from me :)

That was the BEST event we have ever had.  Excellent rewards and closing Deco.  The Golden coins was a really good addition...actual rewards/prizes was exceptional.

Would not mind seeing another event like this.  Coodo's to the developers.  woot woot

    I totally enjoyed this event!

It was almost like they went out of their way to make sure we got a decoration that had decent NHP and VHP at the end.

The only thing that I would like to see changed is how they made Omar offer his lucky coin items. The good items were too rare and checking his offers every 10 minutes was not fun at all.

I was really happy with this event and look forward to more like it..  it was well worth the effort even if i had more than a few sleepless nights to take advantage of the bonus fireworks.

ive thrown enough mud GGS's way (all merited imo), so it's only fair to note when they got something right - generating an event currency simply by harvesting what you would for the event anyway and being able to spend that currency on quality products was an addition to the game that genuinely improved the experience (and my farm, and many others im sure)

whoever came up with that idea, ask them for some more

(tho if they dont involve 12 hours shifts of wildflowers, i wont complain :D )

I loved this event, and a couple other members in my co-op expressed the same enjoyment.  The deco was great - matched others we already have and had good Happiness and good Village Happiness.  It was worth working for.  I kind of liked that Tanuki was easier to find than the Leprechaun, but I didn't think the Leprechaun was unfairly hard in the St. Pat's event.  And Tanuki gave me plenty of gold!!  I just more and more liked getting pranked  as the event went on!  Being gold hungry, I've already gotten used to checking on Omar often enough to get a mining license - so I thought that part was really good as well.  I'm not qualified to have an opinion on top prizes since I have no chance of getting one - I'll leave the comments on that to those who are actually in the running.  I definitely give this event 10 stars.  Great job, BigFarm!

The event was good but there are some things that could change to make it even better.

    - More options to get some rewards we could use, not using omar would help next time.
    - Make the 4 hour prank more visible so people do not harvest the pranked building.
    - Make the searching a bit harder, those thing could be spotted totally zoomed out.
  • I liked this event and think it is the best one like it.
The lucky coins were a great idea
    Tanuki was better to see
The prizes were very good, only had to additional pranks, good job there.
    Omar had great items.
I do agree with the idea by others for a shop like way to spend our lucky coins.
I give the team a grade A for this event. And, want more like it please. :)

  • About Omar's idea of prizes, I think the idea was initially good, but that doesn't mean I don't agree with other players opinion here.
Basically what I mean is, a fixed prize store could be less interesting I think, but there were 2 major downsides to Omar's deals too which if gets fixed or tweaked a bit can make the event awesome imo:

1- the 10 minute cool down is a bit long I think, maybe GGS could reduce it to 5 minutes instead to increase the chance of rare prizes appearing more often for everyone.
2- the difference between hot deals was too much, now I understand that the goal of GGS was to give the "more active players" a better chance to get better prizes, which is reasonable, but I think, an Irish chicken coop for 54,000 vs same for 117,000 was way too much different.so my suggestion is keep the same system but reduce the difference, like give hot deals like 50,000, 55,000 and 60,000 maybe for irish coop for example(or any prize generally the difference between deals get less different), so that more active players can get a bit more benefit for their hardwork which they deserve(and which was the base idea for this way of giving prizes i guess instead of fixed prize store), but the difference should not be "too much". I think that can make it fair for everyone this way.

well this is just an idea though, to make it more interesting for everyone, but a fixed prize store if majority prefers can work too.

I loved this event.  Tanuki was easier to see but towards the end I was losing the incentive to look for him.  I too did not receive prank after prank after prank from him this time.  Loved the gold I rarely received from him.

For me the only downfall was the inability to purchase the Irish chicken coop towards the end of the event.  I so really wanted that chicken coop as I will not be able to get it through the regular game.  By that I mean no sooner did the event start I saw the opportunity to buy it from Omar but needed 117,000 coins with 35% discount.  Whoa!  I also saw earlier on the same item but with a 70% discount for 54,000 coins. We had only just started & he was asking so high a price.  So after seeing the second price I thought that is what I need to aim for.  So with lots of harvesting I thought it would be easier to get.  Unfortunately I never saw the 70% discount again.  35% came up quite a few times but I would never be able to get enough coins to purchase it.  Now I fear I will not get a chance to get one.  Maybe in future lower the price needed for such a rare purchase like the Irish chicken coop.

I'm sure everyone worked very hard to get enough coins to buy what they really wanted but for some it was out just of their reach.  :(

I liked the golden event, I really liked the deco I got at the end and it was not too difficult to get it up to high enough deco points to make it worth putting on your farm.  I don't really mind being pranked by Tanuki at all, he was easy to find, and I was lucky in that I never had a back to back prank.

I didn't do well with the prizes for the coins, I only realised right at the end that there were prizes worth having as all I saw were feed, lucky charm treats etc, so I had spent my coins as I had gone through on small things as I thought that was all they had to offer.  So when I saw a leprechaun house that I wanted I didn't have nearly enough.  But to be honest that kind of reflects my real life spending, I am terrible at saving.

The gold event was nice but would have been nice to have a timer on the special Omar so we knew exactly when he was going to leave.  The only mention was a vague he would stay around for a few extra days and be gone after the next update.  Woke up this morning and he was gone without any notice and all my gold coins. like an idiot I was holding out for the reduced price irish chicken coop everyone else seemed to see.  Hope he comes back and hope the coins stay until he does

Must agree with most of the post here. The Golden Week Event was awesome. Provided some great team work to earn a good level deco for every one in the co op. Most of the items for purchase were not bad. A few of the usual rip offs but not many this time around. The little Tanuki was one of the easiest to find compared to the Leprechauns. His rewards were pretty good as well. Over all this was one of the better events that GGS development team has come up with in a long time :)

Just bumping this thread because it's such a positive one for the game and the developers.  We do a lot of complaining around here, and don't get enough chance to point out the really good things about BigFarm.  I think it's amazing that the developers have been able to continue a game that is both simple enough for new players to grasp and enjoy without being overwhelmed, and at the same time keep it challenging, complex and interesting enough that people can play for 3 and 4 years and still be delighted with it.  I think the Golden Week event was an example of BigFarm at its best.

Very well said, buddy!! Feels like a breeze of fresh air to read some positive posts! Did you know there was another 'positive' thread elsewhere where we can write about all the things we love about this game? Here is the link:

I enjoyed the whole event, and Omar...I got a lot of 1-coin bargains of more coins (some were 500 coins) and flowers for the deco.  This event, like the St. Patty's Day event was a real "field day" for me...I was so glad I had invested in adding more fields/meadows/gardens, as this helped.  I originally got the extra fields from my experience on the test site using edge plants and figured out about the importance of having more fields, etc.  So it came in real handy for these two events...Thank you GGS for making this a fun experience.
