New "Edge Plant" Spreadsheet up.

Dunno if anyone will have a use for this, but just in case, it's out there if you want to look at it.

Just pick the "Field Level" from the pull down menu at the top, and it'll show you all the various Edge Plant quantities that you can grow with that crop.

I'm probably going to add an option for Humus tomorrow, but I'm burnt out on spreadsheets at the moment.  Need a nap. :)

I've added all the various Humus options as a pull down menu.  When you select one it will automatically update the spreadsheet with the amounts that you'll receive with that type of Humus (None, Regular, Premium, Super, and Seaweed).

Pretty much consider it "Done" at this point, feel free to copy it to your personal Google Drive and use it if you like.

    Hope you find it useful!

Another wonderful job @Southern (US1), thank you.
  • Are edge plants in effect yet?  I don't know that I've seen any of these products.  If they are there, where do I look for them as I don't see them in the inventory.

I know the answer seems obvious, but if we're not currently doing the Village thang, there is no reason at this point to plant edge plants, correct?

    Thanks in advance.
  • Found the edge plants and how to plant and have no problems harvesting.  Next problem - how to I get rid of wet fields/rocky/sandy fields other than waiting for the timer.  If I plant when they're wet/rocky/sandy, I have a -70% yield on all produce at harvest.  I don't want to wait 4 + hours for it to clear up.  Any hints/tips/tricks to this problem?

The only other way is to plant something that takes 4 hours (or however long the timer is), then use gold to speed up the harvest.

Otherwise you have to wait out the penalty.

On the plus side, you can continue to harvest clay, sand, and rocks during the penalty time..

Just tried it and guess what - it doesn't work.  I still have the 4+ hours penalty and rocks.  Looks like I have to wait it out or just take the hit which sucks.

Strange, using gold to speed up the harvest definitely reduces my penalty time.  You're not using Instant Seaweed, are you? That doesn't work - in fact that will EXTEND your penalty time.
  • There are two ways to reduce the penalty time.

    1) Plant the edge plants just before the crop is ready for harvesting.

If you plant the edge plants one minute before the crop ripens, then the penalty time will be one minute. The downside is that the harvest of edge plants will be lower, even though they cost just as much to plant.

    2) leave the crop in the field a while after it ripens.

The penalty time drops twice as fast while the crop with edge plants is sitting in the field waiting for harvest.  For example, planting wheat (normally 6 hours) with edge plants, and letting it sit in the field an extra 3 hours before harvesting (9 hours total from when it was planted), and the penalty time will have expired.

These methods can also be combined.  You could plant wheat, wait 3 hours, add edge plants, wait 4.5 hours (1.5 hours after ripening), then harvest.

I've found that the edge plants that flood your fields -  bamboo and willow -  do very very well with rice as it's a water crop
Also I do the edge crops in fields over nite so it doesn't lock them up during the day when i play.
Seems certain edge crops do better with certain main crops -  just a matter of planting and figuring out which is which

the second idea works out gud and very useful too :)

Nope, used gold here.  Trust me I don't like using gold because I don't buy a lot of it so I'm pretty parsimonious when I "have" to use it.  I just planted anyway and waited overnight and it came out ok - full harvest with edge plants and sand/rocks.  I guess if you wait it out long enough, it'll get rid of the penalty and you get your normal harvest.

The G-Force United CoOp Seems to have found a sure way to get over the penalty timer for edge crop planting.  This seems to work pretty well. It has been known to leave an 10 to 15 sec timer if your timing is off a little. Or if you time it well 0 time left.

Plant the crop you wish or need to harvest watch the time to harvest - When this time counts down to around 30 sec give or take a few plant your edge plantings this seems to work well for us. We have tried a few different ways and the 30 sec mark yields the best results - We also found that humus may add to the penalty timer so we try to add humus way b4 edge planting to see if it helps - it seems to have an effect - Planting edge this way is hard to get the timer count when you have several fields. if you start a little sooner you can get the penalty timer down to less than 3 mins - Planting Wildflowers seems to help and you still get your sand - rocks - or -  clay. Wf has no cost so very little loss.

Thanks Team G-Force United Research Team Sponsored by - Whoseesu/Winner - RedfoxFarmer - daffy5 - Bjs - And all the G-Force United CoOp for helping out with all the crazy ideas that did not work or may work after tweaking.

There is one big problem with this:

If you plant your edge plant 30 sec  before the end, you will get a very little out of it.  The number of edge plant products depends on the time it grows, but the planting costs does not. So - longer the plant grows - higher is the profit. And with 30 sec you have a loss even with very high farm happiness.

Much better is to plant your edge plant overnight: the timer would run out before you wake up + you would get some decent profit out of it.

I plan my crops a little, edge-planting only on half of the fields. Planting 20-30 min main crops first, then 3 hour main crops and during the night the 5-6 hour main crops. That way the penalty of the first edgeplanting has expired by the time the next crop is finished.

The Gold-flowers never could accept humus of any kind but if you have some one sparkle a field for you then plant your Gold-flowers you will get a better yield of flowers. The Gold amounts are between 300 to 1200 Gold each field of gold-flowers

@dchen1 (US1) I do believe that you can plant goldflower seed into any level field you wish as well as have some one sparkle any level field, but it maybe better to wait til your fields are level 5 or better for the better yield of the goldflower,
I'm not sure I would want to use goldflower with the edge plants at this stage of the game.

A level 5 field with goldflowers will yield the amounts that are on the edge plant menu I posted.  I wanted the info on the spreadsheet for people who are interested in the amount of edge crops for goldflowers.
This is the first time I had goldflowers, used level field to test how it works.  I will wait until level 7 or 8 field before planting any more goldflowers.

Gold & GoldFlowers are two seperate drops - field level (& charms) only affects the number of flowers that are grown, they have no effect on the amount of gold that is dropped from the field. You'll make a bit more Farm Dollars on selling the extra GoldFlowers from a higher level field, but the gold that is dropped is the same (300-1200 random amount) from a level 1 field as it would be from a level 9 field. :)

Thanks for the numbers for the Edge Plants, I've got 'em added now. :)

Rubber can (only) be grown on the Gourmet Farm fields, Cotton is from the Flower Farm fields. :)
