I'm continuing to gather data, and when I find more matches like above, I'll post them here. (Data collection will be slow, since I only do 2 missions a day, and I don't have a lot of control over certain variables, like what place I get)
I came first in two milk missions, both with 6298 milk.
In the first on 5-Mar-2017, the other players produced 5553, 1352, 1192, 220, and 0 milk respectively, for a total 14615 milk. My "result" was 22378 RP and 149 certificates, before the 70% farm machines bonus was applied. This was with a 20% personal booster which credited 5% to "Active bonuses"
In the second on 9-Mar-2017, the other players produced 2427, 1380, 1051, 550, and 0 milk respectively, for a total 11706 milk. My "result" was 20612 RP and 149 certificates, before the 70% farm machines bonus was applied. This was without boosters.
This preliminary result indicates that the certificates is solely based on a combination of quantity produced and ranking, but that the quantities produced by the other players positively affects the reputation points.
I'll also continue to accumulate data until I can verify how it works
Another set of missions. Both missions were rutabaga, I harvested 684 rutabagas both times. I ended up as 3rd place both times, with only 4 active players in each mission. Both times I got 3872 RP and 27 certificates. (I'm always reporting the totals shown on the main results page, not the detailed breakdown). The amounts harvested by the other players are as follows:
1st mission: 1334, 830, 684, 532, 0, 0 = 3,380 total
2nd mission: 1932, 1143, 684, 588, 0, 0 = 4,347 total
It seems to me that the amount of RP/certificates I receive is independent of the totals other people harvested. This is especially evident since in the 2nd mission, every place except for me harvested a higher amount relative to the 1st mission, yet there was no change in my RP/certificate totals.
Edit: 2 more sets of results.
Eggs, harvested 6252 eggs, got 2nd place, 16245 RP and 117 certificates both times.
1st mission: 7570, 6252, 3205, 2160, 384, 272 = 19,843 total
2nd mission: 6425, 6252, 3276, 694, 560, 518 = 17,725 total
Pigs, harvested 1830 pigs, got 1st place, 14660 RP and 105 certificates both times. Only difference is 1st mission only had 5 players while the 2nd mission had 6;
1st mission: 1830, 1030, 733, 560, 260, 0 = 4,413 total
2nd mission: 1830, 1515, 1240, 1135, 885, 396 = 7,001 total
All 4 sets of data that I've posted so far seem to confirm that we don't get additional RP based on what other people do.
In the past we suffered with frequent solo missions and the points scored were appallingly low.
Is it bigger if the total amount of produces is bigger? Is it bigger if #1 crop is much bigger than #2 ?
From Pietral's example it looks like it is the same - it does not matter how much is the total amount, so - I guess - it does not matter if he won it with 5355 or 10000 ?
So, if your harvest was worth 100 RP, coming 1st would get you 200 RP. 2nd - 190 RP; 3rd - 180 RP etc
