The rune trader came back when NL farm started and is still there; the seeds on the first page in the menu are the right ones for the NL farm.... on our Dutch Server NL1, so everything OK here.
If you can't see the blue car of rune trader on your farm this must be a bug and you should report it. Hope it will come soonest for you!  Seems to be a bug on the US1 server .... (?)

But a person can turn this around and look at it in a positive way     Sure we might have lots of Viking seeds already, but we have a chance to earn a few more.   That way we can even skip more temp farms in the future.  We don't have to go full out building up the entire Viking farm    we can just do a little bit to earn enough seeds to skip even more months in a row      I personally have enough Viking seeds to skip a month, but will do a little work on the Viking farm to earn even more seeds to skip even more months
Fully agree! That's exactly what I do Jane - In December with the temp special Festive Farm; in January with the temp Viking Farm and now in February with the temp Northern Lights Farm: I just buy half of the available plots and farm on only 2 fields, 2 animal accommodations and 1-2 orchards; just enough to keep sufficient seeds in storage for the Greenhouse/Ship/Paddock. And once every X months when I have more than enough seeds of that temp farm in storage I will only harvest 1 field during the whole event (and am very glad with that 'break', to steal Artful's word).

Indeed there wasn't 24 hours of "rest" between these temp farms, as it was announced that the temp farms would always start on the 9th of each month. So me and my coop members were prepared for this.

Personally I don't have any problem at all with the alternating temp farms; there are 4 of them, so 3 of each per year sounds perfectly alright to me. Having "winterly" farms during winter season? I must admit this can't bother me at all, it feels 'seasonal' right. In the announcement it says that the County Fair Event (= Hunt for candies on your farms) will only start at the end of the month - and although that same announcement doesn't say anything about the Candy Farm starting at the same time - it indeed might be the next temp farm to come, because then it would coincide almost at the same time with the County Fair Event (or perhaps right after).

    Happy farming!  :)

@Jiesta (NL1) that is fine for players who do Viking farm, but what about the players who have not done a temp farm in 6 months.  I refuse to open tropical or Viking.  Only ever do Candy and same as many others, so our boats always sit due to this unfairness.
How would you be feeling if they did the next 6 months candy island, as that is how long it has been since last candy?  BTW there are only 3 Viking and Northern lights are the same, they even use the same books from library.  Tropical and Viking are also same except they changed skins and names, they are exact same costs and strategy and play method.  Many players will say there are actually only 2 types of temp farms, candy and the others, I can not believe you can not see that ALL: farms not candy are the same, except for skins and name changes, tropical also has currency difference but the play is the same so are ALL the rewards and costs

We have had the viking island reset... Is this everyone ?   We have members who had real money invested in the
island ???????????    key word being HAD money invested.
Was there some warning about this at all ??   whats going down farmers ??
The Islands are only temporary so
    Yes, it's everyone and
Yes, the book task tells you how many days or hours there are left

what is going on with the islands, i have some players saying it has reset !  some players saying 31 days left, some saying everything ok, some it shows just starting but only 26 days left. is this another GGS con .

Aha, it seems like time is whizzing past and the island farm finished and then restarted on the next theme pretty quickly ...  cheers southern.....  o:)

The island resets on the 9th day of every month (or earlier, depending on your time zone).

Sometimes it's a completely different island, sometimes it's the same one (in this case it's pretty much the same one, Viking Island (last month) and Northern Lights (this month).. I think one just has snow, and the other doesn't).

there should be 27 days left so it will show 26 days sense there is 26 days and so many hours left February is a short month and the new farm starts the 9th so some months will be longer then others now by a couple days sense they are no longer going by 30 days but by the 9th now so just depends on the month
  • Hi everyone,

While it is true that the Festive, Viking & Northern Lights farms are all different temporary farms, with their own deco sets, they do all have the same items to produce & the same fruits for the ship & therefore feel like the same event being repeated. We have seen a similar response in the other communities & we are passing on your feedback, to hopefully get a more varied schedule in the future. With the exception of the Festive farm, the other 2 do still make up 50% of the farms available, so will obviously come around most often, but we do agree that 3 in a row is a bit much. :(
  • @WascallyWabbit the easy fix to make everyone happy is let us choose what we want to do at start of temp farms.  This way a lot of player are not sitting out every month waiting for the temp farm they do.  Then everyone is happy including GGS as more gold spent as less players sitting out every month, players are happy as they are all doing the Temp farm they like. It would not be hard to put a selection at start.  I only do candy farms and I spend gold on them but have done 0 temp farms in 6 months.  I do not know how we will get equal amount of candy farms this year when the last 6 months have been either Tropical or viking or version of viking.  On new system where we start temp farm on 9th every month we should get 4 candy farms this year. is this going to be the case?  If not I am going to demanding my gold back from library book purchase for candy farm.  Viking books have already been used first 2 months this year.

There are a lot of players unhappy about frequency of candy farm.

@Byron Longford (AU1) I have no idea if this is possible, it sounds like it would mess with the game strategy of having to plan how much you need to earn to keep your ship going or not having the correct trader available, as all the traders would need to be there all the time, but I will certainly pass on your suggestion & comments to see what they say. :)

    @WascallyWabbit Thanks.

The trader would arrive when you select which farm you are doing and therefore only 1 trader would be there depending on which temp farm you selected. The other option to be fair is for the 3 types of farm go in pattern.  IE tropical, candy, Viking or version of Viking, then there would be 4 of each and only 2 months between players preferred island.  6 months between candy is just ridiculous. but that wont work this year now as we already had 2 Viking.

    Great, @WascallyWabbit and thanks!!
A lot of players love it the way it is now and do believe the 4 different temp farms are equally addressed annually, but we feel that 3 (although different, but still a bit similar) island farms in a row is a bit much indeed, so a more varied schedule would therefore be great!
As most players I know on 6 forums do love to play the horse tournaments, most of us can't skip any of the Island Farms (we need to play them, if only partially) and most of us don't even want to skip any as we like them all equally .... but again: a more varied schedule would be nicer for all of us!  :)

Yes there is too few to select from that's what makes It boring. Thought for the programmers.
My query is what happened to the gap we normally get between them to give use time to work on main farms, which are needed to supply the temporary farms with cash. It ended one day restarted the next. I want the gap back please. GGS are getting far to greedy that's how you loose lot of players and recommendation to play, including gold players . Seen it before on other games.

It was announced that in 2017 the temporary island events would start every month on the 9th, so there is no gap anymore or barely one in between island events.

I like yr idea of a new temp farm but want a new permanent one far far more. Space on global map may be a problem for new temp farm so maybe make another island type farm  and or something else to switch off with the candy farm  hopefully with better decos, to use interchangeable as they do the two Nordic farms now.   As I said in another post the problem is not in the game but in our mindsets so you plan and do every other temp farm. Problem is solved for you and the temp farm is there for those who want to do a temp farm that month. Just because it is there does not mean you HAVE to participate.

So we have temporary farm starting on 9th, coop challenge was scheduled for 9th and second date later in month. Hard worker in between each.  Never any break to actually work on actual farms to run all these.
Sorry but don't know about anybody else but I play games for fun and to relax. Not as another job to fill time in between real life one. Along with coop projects . Missions. Also any other extras you add along the way ie valentine. The pending new coop map page which will need cash feed from main farms with another coop challenge in there as well. Overload of extras is a definite understatement.  Think need to look for somebody to take over my coop.

@S.sweet the CC is every month on the 2nd and 16th  the temp farm is the 9th of each month.

Ok so couple days out , does not alter the fact that they are putting to much pressure on game. Its ok for everybody who has fully expand everything on 3 main farms, but people still building and upgrading with no gap between constant building of Nordic farm its pressure. Ok so miss one then you run out seeds, delays boat so income is affected also drops horse shoes and slows development of horse farm. So for developing players its a nightmare.

@S.sweet  I am level 166 I think and I still cannot complete all three chapters of temp farm to do so you must spend gold and even spending gold cant do it yet. So I do it and and get first two chapters done I make a lot of whatever the currency is buy my seeds and houses and move on to next or take a break.  The point is you don't have to do the temp farm leave it go for a month this is a long term game the horses will still be there I have times I do not do the farm and have enough seed to last if I choose not to do the next one. Patience grasshopper you will get to this point too.  Happy Farming.

I'm kinda thinking that doing temp farms every month may actually be less pressure not more.
With no gaps between I shall not have to stockpile seeds to keep the Ship going so I can put less effort (and cash) into each farm. The build slot will be occupied for less time and, I have found that, the rate of return on investment is better when I spend less. This could be a win / win for me.    :¬)
  • Jiesta (NL1)Jiesta (NL1) Posts: 6,557
There you have it! @Uncle John (GB1) I fully agree with you! It may not only actually be less pressure because of the reasons you stated, but next to that one can always decide to skip one when this fits the agenda better  ;)
Just try to bend a disadvantage into an advantage (after all the glass should always be considered half full)  :p
