It will be wonderful if you can involve the holiday season somehow.

It also needs to be in English, since this is the English forum.

If you feel especially creative and want to write more than one, this will be great but we ask that you only make one post per person and therefore that you edit them all into the same post.

The prizes will be as follow:

2500 gold each for the 3 best entries
1000 gold each for the next best 3 entries

The contest closes on Monday, January 2nd, 2017 at 14:00 CET.

First off, let me say how very impressed I was with everyone that entered the
Big Farm Limerick! contest

It's not easy putting your writing out there in the open for all to judge. But you guys rose to the occasion, so thank you, and bravo !

A limerick can be a tricky thing to write because although it seems simple and short, it has certain distinct rules and form. While I'm not going attempt a lesson on that it is unfortunately true that while some of the entries were very entertaining and rhymed well, they do not qualify as limericks

After much deliberation and re-reading, the following winners were picked:

farmerjohn 22 (US1) - 2500 gold
lthrrr (GB1) - 2500  gold
KarenKay (US1) - 2500  gold

AlabasterGamer (US1) - 1000  gold
SophiaLorraine (US1) - 1000 gold
CrazyBigfarm55 (US1)  - 1000  gold

This contest was based on a suggestion put forward by artful (US1) who wins a Community Bonfire decoration as reward.

And then, after all the deliberation and re-reading had been done, it became clear that there was a definite need for another prize category in this contest.
We had a number of entries from people whose native language is not English and such bravery cannot be ignored. You guys are awesome !

So, a "non-English" winner was also chosen and
Dara (SKN1) will also receive a prize of 1000 gold.

All who participated in the contest will receive the Christmas 2016 badge.

Prizes and badges will be allocated when the CM's are back in office.

Wow, thank you sooo much.
I just thought to try. Limerick is interesting itself,
but it is much more "interesting" to try in another language

Limerick

There was a Farmer who was old
and searched for much gold.
He hired Oleg to find it among the fish
But all he got was a Bonito Taco dish

The Big Old Farmer tried to get it from the mine
But he lost it in a race against "Oh So Fine"
Mad as a wet hen he stomped like Lester by the stand
Waving and jumping; all he wanted was a little more land

So GGS to the rescue and offers a 2 for 1 deal
The Old Farmer smiles in a delightful squeal.
