Update Dec 8th - "Christmas Preparations Event" & Village Happiness - Discussion

  • Oh Sophia a lady after my own heart I too put out my holiday theme decos for the current holiday it is fun isn't it and am guessing to keep that village happiness we will be stuck with those decos on our farms year round  UGH  now I REALLY like the size and THANK YOU GGS for listening to us about size of decos  and this was the selling point to get me to participate in this years event. Hopefully sophia we can hide it in a corner and bring to the forefront during the holiday.  Merry Christmas
Well the only thing good I get out of my answer is that we are alot alike!!  LOL!!  I am glad the decos are small, and bright and cheerful, but when one tries to keep as realistically looking farms as they can, considering the other decos we have to choose from and win, it's kinda disappointing  :(

I guess that means everyone will be automatically joined to this event. They don't have to look for where to join?
Hey Big Beck (US1) you asked "some of us are concerned about accidentally joining the event unintentionally during the harvest phase.  How will you avoid participating  and still harvest your farm?"
I would think just avoid harvesting the items on your list, but this will end up hurting your co op.
And hurting yourself. Imagine Santa wants chickenfeed and you run out....take a mandatory holiday to prevent accidental harvesting? No cash for GGS
    @crazier (US1) @Kimmiecat (NL1) @Data King (US1)

This has been clarified by WascallyWabbit in the official announcement post at:
    https://community.goodgamestudios.com/bigfarm/en/discussion/140802/update-dec-8th-christmas-preparations-event-village-happiness

    The statement was:

Also there will be a "start" button for the Christmas event task. :)

I hear ya and me too why I hate candy farm and dont have those decos,  I am thinking I will be able to hide the train on FF behind the apiaries  then can pull to front xmas  jan back behind  hoping that will fix the problem as the are not wide.

  • Hey Everyone,

Have fun discussing the Latest Update here. :)

Wow! That was a mouthful :)

Okay, that's cool. I'm going to tell my cooperative to try to not accept people who are inactive. (like, not being on every (at least) 3 days) It'll ruin the process!

Piggy each chapter is only 4 days being on once every three days is NO HELP

Sorry about that Data, I did check and saw that Wascally's post was at 5:45 am, and Crazier and Kimmiecat's posts were made after 12:00 pm.  So theirs were posted several hours after the amended announcement.  Just shouldn't have included you in the group, since you're always in the know  :)

    A amendment to last announcement:
Also there will be a "start" button for the Christmas event task.

    ---

So does this solve the issue of members and co-ops who don't want to participate? We just don't click the Start button and we can avoid the whole event?
That's an improvement! :) Sounds like big part of active/inactive related problems sorted. :) Now it's only human element that can cause issues. Like players harvesting like crazy and then realising: "Oh, I forgot to press the start button." :):):)

    @KarenKay (US1) no need to apologize :)
  • Last year, my whole co op boycotted this. We have a lot of lower level players and no one wanted to do it---I suspect this year will be more of the same. I find it stupid that your whole co op is penalized if you don't want to participate. I don't plan on it, but I also am not going to stop farming for two weeks. I'm not quitting my co op either, nor do i think our co op leader would ask anyone to do this. We're laid back, and everyone more or less resents GGS trying to force us to participate for the sake of a gold grab or whatever. I'm just gonna' keep farming like I always do. I've been in the same co op for years, and as one of the senior members, don't intend to suggest that anyone else be bounced either for not wanting to participate. Whatever.
  • Data King (US1)Data King (US1) US1 Posts: 7,994
Farmer Loki (US1) your co op will not be penalized because your group decided not to do it. If no one in your co op "starts" it then you should be able to continue on playing as normal for your group. It will just mean more work for your group once the co op village opens up.
  •  So if half the people really want to work toward the "big" prize, and half cannot commit (after all, this is a busy holiday month!!), then those who aren't 100% in can just not click the start button?  And this still means that those participating can earn the big prize if they finish the event?  Please clarify this once and for all.  I don't want to assume this year's event is like last year's and its still unclear to me after reading through this thread.

I really hope that flower shop products have been removed from this event.  Since we have to harvest the items, instead of just buying them from the special stall and donating like we did last year, if I have to make summer bouquet or some other low level recipe, I would end up losing millions of dollars in potential profits, and would probably opt out of that week so I don't have to take that big of a loss.

...We can opt out of individual weeks, right?
  • Damaria3 (US1)Damaria3 (US1) US1 Posts: 1,737
That is my take on it Wendy although it would be good to know that there is no penalty attached to this plan.

    Hy !

This event sounds amazing, I am truly delighted...and I love the new deco's...BUT as always there is a BUT!!

Why GGS can't do just for once the things perfect??

I've read here the official announcement, I went on the Spanish forum too, then to the French one, and all of them say that the deco's will have a dimension of 2*4!!

It's sais there: "Chaque déco fait une taille de 2x4, ce qui donnera, une fois les 5 combinées, une déco de 2x20!"

I was delighted..BUT, yesterday I also went in the deco tower at the 35-th floor and I saw there an unpleasant surprise :(

All the 5 deco's appear to have a dimension of 2*5 and NOT 2*4 like was announced in all the forums!

I guess the reality is in the tower!

Happy holidays to all of you!

  • ok........MY question:  Once we win the decos, we have to build them, of course, to acquire the happiness, but then are we stuck with Christmas trains on our farm or farms in order to KEEP, in particular, the Village happiness?  They're bright and pretty, but  I don't want them on my farms forever.....I typically store "holiday oriented" decos and put them out at the appropriate time of year.........Can anyone answer this one?  I didn't see this question come up in the discussion as I read through it......... ??
@SophiaLorraine (US1) As the Village happiness is a new feature, picking up decos that have VHP would be more noticeable at first, but over time as each member aquires more decos with VHP,  it won't matter so much if you pick up one particular themed one, as you may be able to replace it with a different one that also has VHP. Its not really any different to your own farm happiness, if you pick up regular decos to create a christmas theme & then change them back later, your happiness will vary, but you will still have some. I am sure we will get used to the Village happiness level changing all the time.:)

I dont know should I participate or not. I really dont want to donate every day and dont progress on my farms.
Also, hate fishing so I am on low level, if they want fish then that is something with what I can't help.
    Probably better to skip.
  • @"copymouse (INT1)"
some part of the events you don't need to donate, only harvest :) and even when you donate you will get farm dollars for your goods. I don't do fishing either (no patience, I guess) but I'm doing great with just sending Oleg on a boat every time I can. When I can't I just send him to fish for XP, including overnight 8 hours XP :)
Give it a try, you might have some fun :)

I am not on level for boat
I could give a try, just not sure that I can help that much my coop.
  • Just keep sending Oleg to fish for XP, you will get there real soon :)

In my view "all at the same time" I understand that it means that the snowflakes are counted those of all members of the cooperative that are collecting. Not that they all have to be connected at the same time, although this is my opinion only

I do believe you are right there @canco (ES1) as one has to be on in order to collect their harvests :)

    @ BF staff:

    I want to express my deep frustration and disappointment, about the update of today;
While the Hard worker event  is reaching the end game, the server was taken off line for over half an hour.
Many players lost track of their carefully  chosen strategy. In My case: instead of filling the funnel up to a high processing rate, but instead it ended, because no access was possible and the system remained empty during this update time: This makes a big difference!
I can't imagine that the game makers are not thinking properly about what they are doing, but obviously they don't look into the consequences of their acts.
The reason for this? To make the invisible Fortune wheel on the island visible again? It's a shame that that happened btw.
But this can make the difference of just reaching the top reward or not.
In our coop I'm not the only one who is highly frustrated by this unthoughtful action of the server management staff.

Imho, at least a compensation, in extending the ending time of this event should be more then reasonable

  • And Happy Holidays to you too mariposa (INT1) !  :)
