Shelving on Missions

Hi Farmers,
I am be asking a question that I have already read the answer to. Can you shelve a mission before meeting requirement or must meet the requirement first?

Thanks

Comments

  • The requirement must be met first.
  • Thanks Cookiie4me. I thought so, but I had a person shelve a mission before the requirement was met nad wondered if I was missing missing something.

I think everyone's requirements are different -- based on production capabilities.

Yep, I agree requirements are different for everyone and must be based on production capabilities... when in the Challenge, I put 2 temp fields on my farm. My corn shelve requirement was 1116 (I think, might have been more actually), now after the challenge, I demolished the 2 temp fields and my requirement is now 950.

I also think it is based on the missions you do when the co op challenge is not on. I have found that if I slack a bit when the co op challenge is not on doing the missions, my requirement for shelving are reduced. I do keep pretty good notes so I can share the information with my fellow co op members. ;)

    ok I have a question:
My understanding was that the amount needed to shelf a mission was based on each player's ability to produce based on their facilities.

Just did a Milk mission. I have 8 Cow sheds (level 6-8) and 5 Goat sheds (level 7). My required amount to shelf the mission is 363.
I am playing against someone with 10 level 8 Cows and 15 Level 8 Goats who was able to shelf their mission with only 192 Milk.

What am I missing here? I thought that since they are able to produce much more than me, their shelving requirement should be higher than mine...

I had alfalfa requirement of 2052 to shelve, yet another player shelved at 353. I have one more field than her, but 4 of mine are level 2, one lvl 1, 2 level 8 fields. She has 6 fields, about half of which are level 8, half level 7. All of hers are gold fields, while only my lower level fields are gold, the level 8 fields are reg fields. I am level 165, she is level 347.

Upon discussion in co-op chat, I've discovered my pig shelve requirement is 60, while another member's is 257. She is level 120 to my 165, I have 3 pigs, level 8, level 2, level 1, she has 4 pigs, all level 6.
    lvl 8, 2 & 1 pigs, 205 + 140 + 130

1400 eggs to shelve. I have 15 chicks, one is level 8, rest are mostly 6 or 5, some 4s, 3 are level 1.
    1104 rutabagas, fields as above.

Irritating, FarmerPoulinrox was able to shelve rutabagas at 420, while my req is 1104.
    We both have 7 fields: mine: 8, 8, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1 His: 7, 6, 6, 6, 5, 5, 4

1660 wildflowers to shelve, 7 fields, as above. Huh? Is it calculating that I could have fields filled with SP wildflowers? I could, if they'd been planted before the mission started... Dumb.

Seriously, what gives? It seems it might have a lot more to do with player level than amount one can harvest.

  • Has anyone had players in a mission shelve and then unshelve?

As far as I know you cannot "unshelve" a mission. Once shelved that is it.

Kaydidit I just had that happen in a mission. the player shelved their mission and I was looking for the win and they came back and added more points, HOW ??

If someone added points after shelving, I have no idea how they did it...

Are you sure their numbers increased after they shelved the mission? Once we shelve a mission we can't add anything else to it so that shouldn't be happening.

That is a weird thing actually.
there is no undo option for shelving.

actually to me it makes sense... you meet the requirement and make a decision to stay or go... it is more profitable to go IMHO.

Its probably useless to say this.Seen farmers shelve and than when another farmer gets ahead of them somehow they put more in it and get ahead of them again. I really don't know how they are doing it, but have seen it happen. Has not happen a lot but have seen it. One of the many reasons I only do one mission per day now only exception is when CC is happening. My amount needed to shelve hasn't decline.

I have talked to numerous people (in my own co-op as well as other co-ops) that have seen people somehow coming back in after shelving and adding more product. It absolutely can, and is, happening.

As far as shelving requirements, I have done many, many calculations and it is NOT based an ability to produce. When I have 5 cowsheds and I'm against somebody with 12 that are all higher levels than mine,(which means he can produce more than me), and he has 7 goats to my 3, again all higher levels than mine, he should not be able to shelf with literally 1/5th the amount of milk as I.

I still believe that it is based on how many missions you do and how much you personally collect per mission. I have found that if I do not put as much into a mission as I can and keep doing so my shelving requirements go down. The only time I put forth the full effort is during the CC is on.

i have given up on trying to figure out GGS tricks and secret formulas (not for shelving only). Mainly cause as soon as you think you've figured it out they may and will so called "balance" it without any notice, or actually change it continuously while we are trying to figure it out. This way they literaly make it impossible to understand the mechanics behind the game and play smart with some anticipation, strategy, calculations etc as due to zero reliabilty of the game we can hardly get beyond guess work and speculations. Kind of very very silly approach imo for what is supposed to be economy simulation game. Or is it still?
  • What about in this case? They shelved mission from the start? They shelved mission without requirement(s)? How come?

    hm...

They used the stackmaster machine, can shelve at any time
  • the  new stackmaster in the garage, now lets you shelve missions when ever it is active, even without adding to them.

Yes, I find this to be a wonder asset.  Thank you GGS for this vehicle!  o:)

Agreed.  The Stackmaster is a wonderful tool.  Let's you just skip missions until you find one you want to play.  Many ways to use it.
