Are the Horses Fun For Most, or Frustrating?

Personally, I am becoming more frustrated with the horses and do not feel they are enough of a reward for building up the temporary farms over and over again.

  • The rewards have been devalued because you can buy the decos and avatars with gold.
  • The level rewards (especially Diamond) are less than they used to be, too.
  • The "odds" have always been a joke. I would like to see more realism there, like a 30% chance of losing when you have 80/20 odds of winning and are challenged instead of the current 50-70% chance of losing.
  • I have been told that there are no limits to how often you can be challenged in a day. I am personally tired of being challenged 30 or more times a day. (Today, I was challenged 10 times in 4 hours alone.)
  • I see the same names in my queue, day after day.

The horses were once one of my favorite parts of the game because there was strategy with training and breeding. The randomness, worse rewards, and ability to buy super horses, horseshoes, and skip training with gold have painted the horses in a poor light. Speaking of which, what became of the excellent suggestion to have more color choices for the horses?

The horses seem like a pitiful reward for all that is required. I was lucky enough to be around when the horses began, which was a huge advantage. I think it is high time for a revamp to have more rewards and fun! How about a daily reward for challenging George, Lester, or Tessa? How about new colors? How about more realism with the odds and a wider variety of players in the queues to challenge? How about a reasonable limit of 20-25 challenges in a day?

Any other ideas?

I have never been a fan of the Horse Stable. The whole thing was a let-down right from the start. I agree that the odds of winning are ridiculous. No rhyme or reason for who wins or loses. I don't really care about the horseshoes for training, I just train as much as I can and never advance further than mid-Platinum level, I am not competitive about the horses at all since it is random/pre-determined.

I agree.  The horses were fun when they were first introduced, but it is far less motivating now that the decos and avatars can simply be bought.  I have placed in Diamond League in every competition since they began and used to really enjoy it.  I was happy to spend the gold to buy extra gas because the rewards seemed worth it to me.  But there is nothing special about Diamond League any more.  Platinum League gets the deco also, so it hardly seems worth the extra effort to get into Diamond.  And if a person doesn't make it into either Platinum or Diamond, they can just buy the decos and avatars instead without putting in any effort.

I am not sure why GGS has chosen to devalue the horse tournaments, but they have done so, and the end result is that the effort and time to breed and train good horses hardly seems worth the bother any more.
  • As the "end result" of the farm production cycle, the horse tournaments should be the highlight and most rewarding part of the entire Big Farm game.  Unfortunately, I completely agree with the comments above that it has truly lost its luster.  Ergo, what is the point of continuing with the boat, the temp farms and the training and upgrading?

    Very sad, very sad indeed.
  •  The horses have always frustrated me. (Sorry, but I'm not a fan...) I've always thought the horse ranch as an end result for a farm game is kinda missing the point of a FARM game. I've also always wished the horse stables were on their own farm, a 4th farm. Then property space for the MAIN farm could expand further, since the main farm to me seems the main point of the game. Those who enjoy the horses could go wild over ranch expansions on a farm all its own too.

GGS is missing a good opportunity by leaving the main farm and ranch connected.

I agree with all the above comments.  I no longer pay much attention to the horses.  I get them training when I go to bed, and might do a few challenges during Tournaments, but the whole thing is so random, it makes no sense to spend any time on them.  Why should I go to that much trouble when somebody can just show up with gold and walk away with the goodies?
  • I played the horses on my first farm.  Have nearly stopped that now.  I don't play the islands so can never get enough horseshoes.  It just isn't worth it.

When I started a second farm, I never touched the horses.  It's all just too - as you say - frustrating.

I'm getting frustrated too.  The odds seem to have no bearing on the results. Spent most of the day playing yesterday and lost most of the challenges I made.....and odds were supposedly in my favor on nearly all of them.

Horses are nothing but frustrating. The odds are so mismatched. The rewards can be bought now. Not worth the time, money or gold to do horses anymore. I have not even opened the temp. farms to try and get the horseshoes needed to train and breed my horse because I hear they are nothing but money pits. Just a vicious circle. This is not fun or relaxing anymore. May just open the gate and put them out to run wild and free.

The message board are those listed one that challenged you or just in general  I thought they were general and never payed any attention  now I am thinking these are challenges you won or lost???????????????

Message Board shows challenges TO you, not BY you.  Depending on what level you are in, challenges lost will reduce your point total.

Thanks  never knew this  just thought  it was a general board for all then I got suspicious  and now I know
  • Guess I have my answer. Horses pretty much sums up. Big Farm.

I agree the horses are the worst part of the game.

The glitch that cause a reset for some players and a reward for all players to fix the so called problem destroyed the horses.
For me I have a 25% win to a 75% lose ever since they started.

I was very excited when I started to find horses on big farm but now it has become frustrating and expensive to get horseshoes and its depressing.
  • I too am getting more and more frustrated with the horses.  As previously mentioned, the odds of winning are a joke.  I logged all my races during a couple of seasons and lost many more that I should have won than what I won but should have lost according to the odds.  And for me this is really a shame because the horses were the main thing that I really enjoyed.  I got turned off by missions a long time ago.  I don't mind some players using gold if that is how they want to spend their money.  What irks me is the way Big Farm almost always ( about 90 to 95% of the time ) gives you a mission where you are the least prepared.  It's like they are playing 3rd grade mind games with you and I just don't care for it.  And now they give you missions for cows ( or milk ) when you still have several hours before you can harvest - obviously they want you to use gold and harvest early.  Anyway, I am really getting fed up more and more with Big Farm.
  • Frustrating without question. I lose more races than I win so making the next level is painfully slow. I'm pitted against much higher level horses 90% of the time. Even if I have a much better chance of winning- I still lose most of the time. Lots of work, little reward for time and work vested. I'd be happy to see that go for good the way it is.
  • I like the horses.  Yes I know it's frustrating boy is it frustrating when you know your horse should win but doesn't and the reward for winning is a joke but it's that tiny moment of victory that kind of makes me grin.  Yes it's frustrating seriously when you are unable to acquire the horseshoes to train your horses to a point that you win as many as you lose.  And face it the only way to get serious horse shoes is doing a temp farm.  At least when the ship comes in allow for 10-40% of what is asked for instead of 1 horse shoe for 249 of corn or 8 horseshoes for 1213 apples.  There has to be some kind of compromise if one chooses not to do the temp farms and a great many of us are not because it's just to much of a money/gold pit to bother with even if you upgrade all the things you have to to get ahead on it.

If the numbering system for the quality of your horse has no meaning why should we strive to train a horse?  On an average I get challenged about 25-30 times per day and I've started checking on the horses that beat me.  For the most part they have training points that are at least 15-100 points higher then mine but then there is that ringer that comes in with 130 and whips the horse with 306 points come one now that's a little stupid.

I agree the rewards should reflect the effort put into maintaining and breeding horses as much as it goes into ensuring that the temp farms have to be used to get the horse shoes to breed the horses.  There has to be some type of compromise on GGS's part to make this game what it should be as apposed to what they want it to be,

As to the rewards whenever there is a race tournament I reach and stay in which ever league gives out gold or gold licenses it's that simple cause GGS has decided that gold is king.  I'm all for getting it when I can.
