mission fairness

ArtmakerArtmaker Posts: 415
I thought, long ago when missions first were introduced, that there was some way to match people with farms of similar level and ability. Now does that only look at level? Or does the algorithm consider how many of a given field is on each farm????

My problem, even though I may be a high level, I LIKE decor. I have 5 chicken coops. Yet I get put up against someone with two full rows spanning the width of the whole farm. NO way I have a chance against that.

Same for crops. I have five fields. Just lost to someone with 12. WTH??????

It's bad enough when people shell out gold to squeak ahead. But hey, that's up to them.
However it's really not fair at all to be up against someone with so many production things I don't stand a chance. It really sucks all the fun out of this.

They may have books from the library to increase their yield. If you have collected enough gold consider buying one. I myself is collecting as much gold from weekly log on bonus to buy such items.

That is a great tip Carol, I suggest when you can afford the farm boosters that you start with Corn, Chicken Hand Book and Wild Flowers as these will help with the missions as well.

I know its frustrating. Either a higher level has scored low in previous missions or you're scoring high, but eventually it does even up (there are some who purposely perform low in a mission to be paired with lower levels). In addition to the tips above about purchasing handbooks, consider upgrading vehicles and then activating the appropriate vehicle for a mission. And if you're in a co-op with cool people, ask them to sparkle your field/stables. But most importantly: you never lose a mission...you are always awarded certificates and rep points. Don't get bogged down by thinking you need to be in 1st place. Happy farming!

I don't care about finishing first. I know we get something no matter what.
My point was why do I get put up against farms with way more production for a given item than I have. 12 cow sheds vs my 4 for example.

Never considered other things like loosing just to go up against lower levels. (Gees do people really sit and figure this stuff out?)

Only truck I have used so far is for the greenhouse fert. Still unclear what most of them are suppose to do. I know one gives you extra workers. I have another farm where that is really handy. Not enough houses.

The happiness one seems about useless since I have so much decor.

I don't care about rep points so that one isn't past level 1.

And the one that gives more certs in competitions... well I never noticed any difference.

I really wish they would make things more clear as to what they do. Too many aspects of this game are a total mystery. Such as horse competitions. Seems win or lose is random chance and has nothing to do with training.
NO fun at all and I don't even play the horses anymore. Just dumb.

Handbooks eh? My other two farms I finally have the dog house fully upgraded. Maybe one of those I'll wait till I have some gold from the game and try it. But again, no clue exactly what they do. Or if it's permanent or like the greenhouse fert, use it and it's gone.

I don't think it is set up to calculate how many buildings you have on your farm and how many of the same building are on the other farms. Same for the fields, the system doesn't care how many you have compared to someone else as that is a personal choice. At the end of the day it boils down to individuals and how they choose to produce on their farms. Some people want lots of cows, some want lots of eggs, some want lots of fields.

It is just the luck of the draw at the end of the day. Sometimes it is stacked in your favour and sometimes it is not.

Have a look at this spreadsheet about farm machines.

I know the feeling @Artmaker.  I have only 6 ducks - prefer chicks as they dont take as long to produce - yet yesterday I played in an egg mission against someone who has 28 ducks, lots of them the highest level.  On the other hand I have 16 chicks whilst they have only 4.  It all depends on how you want to play the game.  I have a pretty good happiness value on my farm which I have obtained by using the landscaper every time she is here, otherwise I would not be able to have so many chicks.
  • What annoys me is being 'matched' with high level players in a mission.  The coop I am in is currently around 50th position in Rookie league yet I am being put into missions with players in the gold league.  I am currently in an egg mission with a player who is in the top ranked coop in the gold league, a level 193 player who has 16 chicks and 17 ducks. I am a level 74 player who has 9 chicks and only 2 ducks.  How this is fair matching is beyond me.  The other players in the mission are levels 169, 132, 129 and 88.  Have a guess which 2 players are in 5th and 6th place :(

Not sure what that screenshot is supposed to prove, the 2 lowest level players are winning LOL

@Usama Chaudhary - I can hold my own against high level players in a crop mission, but when it comes to being able to afford to buy the land AND build 15+ ducks is not possible when I am only level 74.  At the moment I am in a mission against a level 169 player, who I have been 'lucky' enough to play against for the last 4 missions.  They are winning the missions by a huge amount while I am lucky to get 4th place.  How is this possible, to be drawn against them all the time when they are winning and I am bottom?

You are right Shanzy, that's the real problem for us.
  • Oh, and I meant to add well done @UsamaChaudhary for 2nd place :)

  • Thanx Shanzy,i alwayz try to get position, still now i am in flower mission,my opponent is level 180,we are having a tough competition in 3000 line,Hope i will stand first or 2nd in this mission,xD
  • When I'm against the same super high level player (or super gold user palayer) I deliberately wait till the very end of the count down, just to still get the 10% boost and hope for better luck :)

They won.  This is the final result.  After I harvested my 8 fields of alfalfa and replanted, I realized that the level 16 player had to be spending gold.  So I stopped, I didn't want them to come in last place.  I came back 15 minutes later and discovered that the four highest level players had stopped, too.  <3
I visited their farms and they all had alfalfa sitting in their fields ready to be harvested.  <3<3
Sometimes the players themselves have to make the competition fair.  <3<3<3

This is the best example what does mean fair-play.
The problem is not this one.
I played a lot of missions against lower levels but there are some players that look like red bull when they saw a mission.
They used a lot of golds for some utopic RP's or decos not speaking about some good rewards (I totally understand them if they are winning that seaweed in their co-op but being higher level players there I am in doubt about this possibility). They did not understand that they should use their golds in another mode (building water tower, buying gold licence, etc.)

To be perfectly honest we all need to stop complaining about unfair missions because no matter how much is changed a state of balance will never exist in this event. In most competitions, even when handicapped, there is still a favorite & an underdog. There is simply no way to sort mission participants by farm level, number of chick coops, number of duck coops, fields, cow sheds, owned library books & I am not even factoring in the variables of seaweed, gold, boosters & the availability of farms online at the time......missions are a little like a crap shoot where luck is involved & akin to poker where skill & experience also come into play. Best thing to do is just accept the situation & do the best possible with what you have to work with...

FYI...... I am no GGS cheerleader. I despise the CC & grit my teeth & endure the darn thing for my coop's sake BUT I also know stressing about that which will never be fair & just is bad for my health & a waste of time.
