Obviously CM Popeye has NO intentions of keeping us updated with official announcements. He has not even posted or answered any questions in the last week. I, Data King, timvalen, and several other players have posted the last few official announcements that we found on the EN forum ourselves.
So to make this easier for everyone, here is how to get to the en forum. In the address line above, change US to EN and hit enter. This will take you directly to the EN forum and all the info posted there.
I see Popeye is looking for co-moderators. Do not fall for this trick. He is paid to moderate our forum. He should do his job. If you sign up to help him, you will get some gold per month. You will end up doing his job for a pittance while he gets to take home a full-time salary for doing nothing. Don't help him avoid us.

Thanks for the info but why should we on the US forum have to go looking for the official announcements. They seem to have no problems taking our money so why do they treat us like 2nd class players?
Once again , thanks for the info.
There are Moderators on many Big Farm forums and they do one heck of a good job keeping things in order. I've always held them in the highest regard because they are players like ourselves who have chosen to volunteer their time and effort on our behalf.
@kbhar007 Boycotts have been called for many many times before and have never worked. Why? Because too many people like myself love the game and would hate to see it gone. If you hate the practices of GGS, you always have a choice not to play. No one is forcing you to stay.
With the current trend do not be surprised when all the event times are shortened, this will require a lot of gold to be used to complete them, an example is them shortening the event times, there is no way to complete it without gold, and no amount of strategy can help which is extremely unfair to the players. It used to be that the events were about 2 weeks apart so players could take a rest, now they are 1 week apart, and are bombarded with 3 or 4 different events simultaneously going on at the same time. The question is, when they start doing a couple events per week such as the hawaiian event and out of this world event, are you going to still love this game?
Finally, can you really afford to do that many events?
And lastly, I do love the game, but, I hate what has been an alarming trend in which it seems they are more concerned with making money then helping the player.
So if the only way to complete an event is with gold, that is ok?
I can't. So if that's how the company wants to deal the cards in the events, sobeit.
But it is a lot of work indeed so I do have huge respect for our Moderators as I think I know how busy they are and I am sure they do have far more work than I do.
I happen to know from visiting all those different forums that the CMs do have a very busy job also, trying to keep up with all those different threads, and - I for one - do believe that CMPopeye did a good job so far. I assume they do have a life next to the GGS games, so maybe he is on holidays or maybe he moved on (??) ... What do we know?
I never considered it a bad thing to hop over to the other forums to see what explanations or answers can be found over there. That's why I know exactly who is most of the time the first to answer questions from players and where can be found the best explanations about strategy, etc. I am not against a bit of self-reliance and independence ... why should the Mods/CMs do everything for us?
We, English speaking players are the lucky ones who can go to more than 1 forum to find their answers - so why wouldn't we? It's exactly the same reason as why I translate most Official Announcements for Dutch players who don't speak English - why making a fuzz about it?
If people like to help out other players, and they have much free time on their hands to do so - why not signing up to be a Moderator? I do believe especially your last sentence is quite condescending and insulting, cookie. CMPopeye is a CM (= Community Manager), so he is NOT - as you say - a Moderator himself, who should moderate your forum. He is the manager and is therefore justified to ask for Moderators as he needs them to help him. As every CM needs his/her Moderators.
And yes @kbahr007 (US1) we still like the game. Because it says nowhere that you have to play each and every event all the time. I don't. I have a life next to my computer, so I only play the theme-events occasionally, maybe once every 3 months. And the CC we also play only once every 3 months with my coop. I wouldn't want to play it every week, it would just bore me.
And it says nowhere that you have to pay huge amounts of real money for buying gold. I don't, I've maybe bought 4 times a little bit of gold in 3 years of BF. In my working days I was a business woman so I can fully understand that GGS wants to make some money from their products. If you don't agree, you are free to tell them, if you don't want to buy gold, you can play the game without it ...
If you want to step out, you are free to go. Don't try to pull others into a boycott, why would you, what is there to boycott? This game is a product from GGS; they developed it, they've put a lot of money in it, so they are free to do with it as they please, and although I certainly don't agree with everything they do or decide (just read the different threads and you can tell that as well as farmerjohn as I did often disagree with GGS, so there is no need at all to fall back to that pathetic expression 'brown nose') - overall I think they did a pretty good job so far - because up until now the graphics, the themes, the different in-game games and the different strategies are great, with something for everyone in it.
Again, I do agree with farmerjohn: it's up to the player to decide what or what not they want to spend gold on, and whether or not they want to play one of the many events. It's is certainly not up to you to tell them whether they shouldn't or can't or to tell them to boycott things.
Just my 2 cents, happy farming!
But isn't the reliance on volunteers a big part of the forum/moderator problems? Forum moderator should be an employee of GGS. He/she should be paid for their time and he/she should be held accountable when a large number of players feel uninformed about changes to the game. I feel this is just another example of GGS cutting corners to save a few bucks at the expense of their players. They are using their players instead of hiring someone. We have all complained before the company uses us as beta-testers and we end up finding all the bugs for them. I would pay for a bug-free game. I stopped spending money on this game months ago because of all the bugs. The no-paid moderator is another example of that kind of business practice.
How's this: if the company would send out official announcements via the in-game message center, we could use the forums for discussion of those messages. Then we wouldn't have to go out and look for the information we need, we would already have all updates in our in-boxes.
CM Popeye has other game forums to be on too, Galaxy, Empire and more.
Also he works at Goodgame Studios and has more to do than just post before something new comes out in BigFarm
actually, if you spend half a day only doing one part of an event each day, you'll have it finished in no time.
otherwise, what's important about events anyway?
well, if you don't play, it would require gold if it was your life's dream of finishing an event...
the game doesn't require any gold at all
Cookiie4me (US1) said: Would be pretty nice to have this, but at this point a good amount of people who have been trying to figure out what's been going on this past week already know to go to the EN forum anyway. I would prefer to instead have an additional dialog box that properly confirms your purchase of a favorite offer popup but as that appears to have an implied "no", hopefully something like this can be developed.
This is my happy little click fest. And I like the folks in my coop. But this is not a good use of my money. They never test things before rolling it out to the world, support takes days-weeks to reply, if at all. So.... free. Yup. That's for me.
I just LOVED your videos. And what an awesome house! But Alaska.... brrrrrr. I'm cold in SW Michigan. But I bet the views are awesome.
Thanks for sharing.
But the latest change indicates to many this might be time to turn the page on this game and I am one of the people who is getting sick and tired of what I see happening to this game which is turning into a reverse ATM machine.
As of now and for EVER... I will NEVER give this game money... EVER again. And one more step toward the darkness and I'm gone, not gona give it a single hint of hesitation leaving games is super easy for me and games that are going dark and even more easy to leave.
Shortening the event without notice then saying there wasn't time to let us know doesn't even make sense since it must have been planned or one would hope they planned for it. Many of us went ahead with it because we believed it to be an error that would be fixed.
Growing farms need these deco in order to increase their happiness while making room to add new things and the amount of gold required to complete seems high for an average gold buyer.
A coop member and myself got Lester, and a 2 for one deal while the architect was here. She was able to get a lot done when he offered the spend $100,000 in 24hrs and get it back deal.
Me. Lester walked away after I completed his 10 sales without offering me any deal. I can't help but be a little bit bitter about that. I sold almost all my donkey feed to get that deal and now I am stuck refilling it.
For me the trust is broken and I find myself backing away from the game. I still have things I want to do with my farm but I no longer feel the enjoyment of long hours of play.
It does feel to me like the majority of changes the game makes is generated to push players out who don't want to pay to play. Since the game is designed to generate money I don't really have a problem with that so much as I have a problem with how much one is expected to pay to play.
The game has been tightening up little by little, making it harder and harder for non payers. Like Jelly Bean, I have no issue with them making money -- that's their raison d'etre, after all, but they should discontinue calling themselves "experts in free-to-play gaming." (From their website.) It's become anything but.
My problem isn't that many need gold to play; imo you can either have a lot of time to spend, or $ to spend: it's a balance. The problems I have are the support (no in game support, out of game support is often non-responsive), that we don't get updates (or they have to be sought out on other forum boards that we are not linked to), and that changes in game are not given warning to (like the shortened time on the tent event).
I have played other "free games" where all changes were implemented with a heads up in game (no forum necessary), where time could be substituted for spending $, and where there was in-game support as well as responsive out-of-game support.
This lack of care for customers ensures that I will never spend my own cash, as I won't give money to poor support. I have spent plenty in other "free" games, but this is not one of them! In my 4 1/2 months playing this game, I am not impressed with how customers are dealt with. While I enjoy the game and will continue to play (for now), I will not be giving my $ until I see changes to the forum updates, in-game updates, and customer support, as it's not worth it.
