Ubuntu, Flash and WTF

Trying to operate under Ubuntu a product of Linux, since both chrome and windows has kicked XP to the curb.  I've loaded Opera, Chrome, Firefox and something called browser.  I get to good games studio, where they ask if you've played before click to log in and I get a page that tells me I need Flash.  Ok so I attempt to download Flash and it tells me that Flash has security issues.  What security issues?   Is there anything that will help me?

As long as you are going through the official Adobe lash website, there should be no issues.

Be sure to get all the updates after you install it. Much safer that way ;)

Your missing the point I am going through the website, I've downloaded the software 7 times as of yesterday and good games is telling me that I don't have it on my computer.  The Adobe website however is telling me that I do have it.  One of ya'll is fibbin!!   I am having issues and I am downloading from the website so what do I do now?

I would love to get the updates as needed but guess what as long as the system disavows any knowledge of flash, I'm not going to be allowed to.  It is kinda like that thing called catch 22 or better yet Danged if I do and Danged if I don't

Ok will get my electronic expert (SO) to see what he can do  TY
  • Considering that Linux is used by less than 1% worldwide, count yourself lucky you actually can play it on Linux in the first place since there is no obligation on the part of companies to help people who uses "exotic" OS's.

Flash in Linux (which ever flavor doesn't matter), is just as secured as more real OS.  So I would check your settings which is kind of nuts in Linux.

You are using an outdated FLASH version from a non-free Ubuntu repository.  That is why you get the warnings.  Adobe stopped supporting FLASH version updates on Linux some time ago.  Download Google Chrome web browser (from Google, not from an Ubuntu repo) and install it.  With it you will get an updated Pepper Flash version and all should be fine.

Far as that goes, you should be able to run the game in the outdated version if you set Firefox to do so.

Note to others:  Please don't give people advise on Linux if you don't know what you're talking about.  The Pepper Flash is being updated and works great.

I tried to do the same thing and caved got a new computer.
  • MsWalker... did you ever find a solution?  I am in the same boat although have a different computer to use but am needing to update windows and would much prefer to go the linux route... anyway was hoping there was a solution as it appears as though chrome will not support 32 bit systems anymore which is what I have...

MsWalker - I found a solution.. you have to have 64 bit and chrome.... Ubuntu MATE works great for me and am able to now play with linux!
  • I just wanted to add to my post above.  Opera on Linux will also use the new version of Pepper Flash that Chrome provides.  So if you are on a 64 bit machine, Opera is one more option for you.
