Here's a spreadsheet on total production & production/min including the new feeds. Using fast feed clearly have # advantage - more than tripled vs regular cow & doubled vs regular pig. Chickens will remain a top producer of dungs/min & eggs/min. There are other discoveries in those data - I highlighted some. Have fun & enjoy! :)

P.S. Wanted to copy & paste the spreadsheet but the forum post width doesn't fit the whole thing - so I'm uploading an image instead.

Edit 3/15/2016: removed the link & image to the spreadsheet to avoid confusions since the March 15, 2016 update has changed the production #s for pig & cow milk with the new feed.

My question is what will become of the wheat and cabbage?  No one will use them at all if the new seeds do the job in a much shorter time, surely

It doesn't do exactly the same job, however. For eg. the speedy pig feed gives significantly fewer pigs and dung per harvest.
I'm assuming the same for the milk.
So for overnight, etc, and also for the start of missions, you will want to use the ordinary feeds in order to get a decent yield.
Speedy will only work if you're going to sit at the computer and harvest every few minutes and/or need pigs/milk in a hurry (for a pig or milk emergency ;) )

milk production = 335 for normal cow feed and only 24 for speed feed (lvl4) = 7,5 minutes production time

New stuff doesn't count for task and books do not work either.

You can get Task 3 tracks from the new stuff, i just did.

Right there kbahr both types of the new crops will help with the weekly events. The drop rates are yet to be determined ;)
  • Re ALFALFA: Please tell GS that some goats love to eat alfalfa.  Also, if it is mixed in with other hays it INCREASE MILK PRODUCTION IN GOATS.
Please ask why we aren't feeding it to goats???
    Thanks Popeye!

    ps....I raise real goats.....lol
Hoses eat the alfalfa also.  I like the short collect times but would be great if it would yield more too

I didn't even know what alfalfa was before today tbh.

Too many people know too little knowledge about farm life for real! That's OK. I would be surprised if there were not a few who had little knowledge of what a rutabaga was as well. LOL

love the new update I have a question though, why doesn't the speedy pig and cow feed apply to the repeat side quests? thanks!

Love the new updates!!! Keep adding new seeds even on the other farms.  Like how about pumpkin and have pumpkin pie from the bakery?!?!?  Still loving it and thanks for adding the new seeds to the nursery! Keep it up....good work GGS!!!!!

Will Farm Booster books for the new seeds and feed be added to the library?

enjoying new items very much  have a couple of questions

    1.  Since due to missions we all stock up on special seeds, will water increase for the additional seeds?  It's hard enough to come by now and all spec seeds use a good amount, so will water drops be increasing so we can stock up better
    2.  Are you still keeping regular pig and cow feed even though you've introduced speedy feed?
    3.  Grow time on spec seeds, i noticed the new seeds are the same amount of time, will this be decreasing?

You are adding things which are fabulous, but you have no offset to what you are adding.  You are in essence cutting into regular production times.  i.e. In order to grow alfalfa spec seeds, i have to use my regular items water which leaves me short and takes away time from doing so and i either get to do corn or alfalfa,  wildflowers or turnips in the same time frame

My time available to play the game hasn't changed, nor has grow times or amount we gather to grow these items but your addition of items has increased these areas , please look into a way to compensate for the loss in other areas    It would help a lot if you could increase a few items and decrease some grow times

That's interesting. My L7 cowshed only gives 12 milk on speed. :) How come?

Library books affect milk harvests. (Cow handbook level 5 gives +110 milk per harvest.)

The Powerhouse tractor also affects milk harvests.

And the research ............... but still, the numbers 335 and 24 don't seem to fit together in their ratio. As I get lot more normal milk, but only half of speed milk. How would that happen? I suspect Loop took the speed number from pigs instead of milk ? .

@CM Latten The new seeds and missions are quite interesting and making me stick more at my PC. Never expected that update will be this interesting. SO please do convey to the team that new features are awesome. But I do have some few questions which only you can clear it.
    1. Will Boat, Organic Market & Visiting Neighbors ask for the new crops?
    2. How soon will be the Library books for the new seeds will be introduced and available for buying? (because harvesting them makes one sit for longer duration at PC and time available for playing is short)
    3.  wrt Missions:
After update, Well there were B) NO SOLO MISSIONS (finally) B)
I played almost 20 missions and every mission I was having 6 opponents including me :D of levels ranging from 345 to 12.
Isn't this pairing quite unfair >:) ? If you could shed some light on how the pairing in missions will ensure same level of difficulty for players in same mission before the next CC, then it would even more fun to play.
    4. Will there be groups like we have for Silo Event in the upcoming CC OR will there be groups for players, so that difficulty is same for the people playing mission?
    5. Game is still lagging even after trying in Mozilla, Opera, Chrome browsers. Can this lagging matter be resolved soon, as more and more new features are being added. Often, I have to refresh the whole page in an interval of 30mins so that the lagging is not there.
    6. Why choose a mission page still showing only 4 missions? Can it be changed so that it accommodates all the missions including newer ones?

All and all....something very good and interesting to play the missions.
    :):):)

Assuming: -80% running costs, lvl 7 fields, and lvl 1 corn booster (because this is what I have)

    Run rutabagas for 15 minutes:
    Running costs: [60 + (0.2 x 16)] x 5 = -364 dollars
    Total rutabagas harvested: 280
Total cost for 280 rutabagas: -364 dollars

    Run corn for 15 minutes:
    Running costs: [50 + (0.2 x 5)] x 3 = -153 dollars
    Total corn harvested: 72
Money generated from selling corn: +432 dollars
Cost of buying 280 rutabagas: -560 dollars
Total cost for 280 rutabagas: -281 dollars

If you do the same exercise for alfalfa vs corn, you'll see corn costs less as well.

In summary, you should make corn, sell it, and use that money to buy alfalfa/rutabagas.

Edit: Oh, and before you think the cause of this is because it's so cheap to buy alfalfa/rutabaga, the bigger reason is because of the high seed/running costs for alfalfa/rutabaga.  As you can see, it's more expensive to run 1 set of rutabagas than 1 set of corn.  In fact, if you run alfalfa/rutabaga and sell it, you would be losing money due to the high running costs.
  • wow the new update is gonna be exciting!! new missions, new seeds, new feed; something to do on the farm. i had been getting bored on big farm since the last few days, but now there is something interesting to explore. can anyone please answer my questions:
    1) production time and production cost of the new seeds?
    2) time when the update is scheduled to take place?
    3) time and production cost of special seeds of alfalfa and rutabaga?
    4) what will we be able to produce from these seeds?
Server time - so you'll soon learn the answer to your questions :)

    thanks, i got to know

    No, it are the cow shed numbers, checked it again and it's like that;

I do have a cow handbook, but only lvl1 and no research

I am lvl 80, maybe the difference is there?

Hey guys, glad to see that you are overall pleased with the latest update. I will try to answer some of the questions I saw here.

There will be additional seeds in the future, but you will have to wait to see what they will be ;)
The regular feeds will stay in the game.
We will look into including the new seeds/feed for the missions.
I can not comment on the drop rate of water.

    Happy farming everyone!

The production time for speedy cows says 7.30 on the ring menu and 7.00 in the production info

@loop (NL1)  If you click the info button on your cowshed & look on the Product Info tab, what does it say you should get for speedy cow feed?..... Can you post screenshots of that & of what you are actually getting if they are different.

7:30 both Info, ring menu and actual production time (minus 3 sec. until I've made the screenshot :D )

If you look on the info tab for a level 4 cowshed, its shows you will get 9 milk with speedy feed. With Loop's level 1 cow handbook, which would give +15 milk that would total 24 milk with speedy feed. 9+15=24 :)

Without the cow handbook, a level 7 cowshed gives 12 milk with speedy feed.

The numbers are shown in the info tabs. I think the confusion is because of the library books adding extra.

5 Pigstys lvl 8+ all pigs handbooks< 6 lvl 1 pigstys + all pigs handbook. Unfair:( The pigs and milk missions are truely based on the number of handbooks we have. Pigsty with one handbook collects 45 and pigsty with 5 handbooks gives 170 pigs Same with cowsheds. GGS please do something.

  • I hope this means new co op projects are in the works to use these new crops.   As we always seem to have new lower level members I try to do projects that everyone in the co op can easily participate in and once you move off the main farm, that isn't always the case.

Rutabaga  and alfalfa missions with barn full are not fair.  The seeds cost more to plant than what the harvest sells for.  You are going to cripple new players with this.  It is only a few dollars and I can afford it now at my lvl but there is no way a new play  will survive.  Happiness of -83 lvl 7 field  rutabaga costs 62 to plant with a yield of 56 and a sell price of 1 each so loss of 6 per harvest.  Alfalfa is worse costs 83 to plant with a yield of 36 and a sell price of 1.

New players are going are not going to catch on to this right away, there is so much to learn early in the game.  I remember doing wildflowers just to make money at times because they plant for free.
  • What I really like is the diversity in the missions.  And since the update I no longer have to wait a full five minutes and most of all: no more solos!  In every mission all six places were filled.
