I have spent most of the day reading all of the posts on the US and EN Forum and corresponding with my Co-op – 19 members and will be 20-21very soon. I use both forums because I started on the EN Forum and LOVE it. I have many Co-op members on both forums. I am posting this summary on both forums for that reason.
The Santa’s List event has the potential to be a whole lot of fun, and we were all very excited about it. But, IMO there are still many problems with it.
1. The Instructions were not clear in the beginning and left out the times that the event would start and end times for the 7th day. Since this is different on different servers, IMO it is a very important point to be included in ALL new events. We all know everything is in GGS CMT –German time, but we should be told what time that is going to be so that we can calculate our own local corresponding times. Then everyone has the same time available right from the start.
2. There are still many players on both forums asking about what happens if….., players don’t play, players don’t finish, if some finish, but not all, etc. Though many of those questions have been answered, the word is not out to all players. I very strongly believe that there should be an addition to the official announcements for this event, including this information, the information about what products a player can donate on the last day and the times for different servers, etc. It was mentioned that they would be different from the player’s products that we were helping. Why couldn’t we have been told ahead of time that we would need to “help” with the very same products that we ourselves were having trouble having enough of!!!!!!! Many of those amounts were impossible even for ourselves!!!
3. Over the past year and 8 months or so, I have seen threads in the Forum in which, the author takes information from players or CM’s and adds it to the first post. I think that it would be very good if a post such as Latten’s on the EN Forum (https://community.goodgamestudios.com/bigfarm/en/discussion/comment/2718143/#Comment_2718143) in which he told us about the times on 11-26-15, I have quoted his post below as an example.
“Yes, should be exactly that, 12 midnight Saturday CET, except for the US/BRA/HIS countries (which are timed differently). Basically the same time as the daily quest reset usually happens.
US: GMT-5
BR: GMT-4
HIS: GMT-6
JP: GMT+9
All other countries/Servers go 12 midnight CET”
****In the USA that is currently at (9 PM PST)
were 1) added to the official announcement or 2) Put in the first post—Important things to know: by the CM’s That way players could catch up on the official information easier than reading through hundreds and hundreds of posts and the information would not need to be repeated so many times on the Forum. Many times very important information has been left out of Official Announcements.
**** Even with this information, the corresponding time on the US forum would be 9PM PST. I just went to do some screen shots at about 20 min. to 9PM PST and all of the screens are blank now in preparation for week 2! What if we had been trying to complete that last 100% order during this time!!! NOT FAIR GGS!!!!!
4. This is supposed to be a Co-op TEAM event. There were allowances made for Holiday Vacations and that is a good thing. However a team event should inspire the team to do great team work TOGETHER. The ability to have a player’s record erased if they do not complete it by removing them from the Co-op and then reinstating them, in my opinion does just the opposite and should not be part of this event or any other! I know of NO other TEAM EVENT or TEAM SPORT in which a TEAM PLAYER OR TEAM MEMBER is asked to leave so that the team can win! Then whatever contributation they were able to make is totally thrown in the trash! The player also will not get the benefits from past Research when they are out of the Co-op working their farm. The records of their contributations in farm dollars and gold to the Co-op, records of participation in past projects will all be erased. I do know that some talked of doing this immediately, but I have also seen posts that they would be brought back the next day.
There are also players who resigned from their Coops fearing that they would hurt the Co-op. Some players have even quit the game. Not good GGS!!!!!!
I stand my prior post (Scissors on the EN Forum, this is my answer to your post) I WILL NOT REMOVE ANY PLAYER FROM MY CO-OP JUST BECAUSE THEY FAIL TO REACH 100% ON THEIR LIST! I personally do not feel that it is fair to them at all or fair to others that tried hard to have all of their work and efforts for the happiness points just thrown in the trash! They have sacrificed their time to play the game, do the event and be part of my Co-op and I WILL NOT do that!! This is my opinion on what is right and others can do as they want!
I read posts about what if I have a new Co-op member days into the event come and they start the event, just before it is to end! Well, folks that is exactly what happened to me today! I have had 2 other new members that I thoroughly told about the event BEFORE letting them in. Then, this morning, one of my members that has been on a LOA and ill, came back!!! I was so excited to have her back that I immediately sent the invite and began telling her not to touch the event. But, being a high level, very good, very active player, she was at it before I could get the information out to her! Oopsie on my part! This was early today-hours away from the end of the 7th day. English is her 2nd language too and she does very well with it most of the time. So, yes, your fears did come true in at least one Co-op! LOL She did pretty well filling up her order too, but of course there is just not time or resources to complete it. For this week, it is not an issue. NO WAY am I going to remove her, she just came back to us, what kind of a welcome back greeting would that be! Also as someone pointed out on the EN forum, we have an international server in which many players use translators to play and the GGS staff should know as well that translations do not always get the “correct” information across. This game is for players of ALL players of all ages, incomes and time availability. The event needs to be structured for that. Players should NOT be penalized for honest mistakes, for not having enough money to spend, or in the case of players under 18 for not being able to spend money for gold. Perhaps this event was designed with the movie ads in mind in which we got to choose 1 in 4 prizes, and could choose gold as a prize. The surprise boxes are a joke and I have not had any of them for several days on either browser (IE, Google Chrome) now. I can tell you that having a little more gold to play with was nice. I had even considered buying a bit more just for fun, a little naughty and nice, etc.. Then this morning, I clicked on Omar’s ship on the Island farm and somehow it opened to say that I did not have enough gold!!! Yikes!! Thank goodness I had not collected the gold from my mine or all of my savings for the past weeks would have been totally wiped out!!! Players have begged GGS to put in a Gold—are you sure you want to spend gold function into the game (it could be done so that players who don’t want it could shut it off too). Many players do not buy gold because of this! I’m disabled on a very tight fixed income, when I buy any gold, I want to be able to use it for it’s intended purpose and not lose it accidentally!!! IMO GGS could easily do this, they just choose not to. So, IMO they lose out on a whole lot of gold sales!! I may not buy a lot of gold, but I sure work hard to train a lot of players and support the forums and that IMO is valuable to the game too, and some of those players I know have bought gold too.
Events that have the potential to try to “force” players to buy gold, or use peer pressure for them to spend money they don’t have, or make them feel like less than a team player because they have families, work, etc, cause miscommunications, break apart Co-ops and have players leave the game do nothing to inspire Co-op teamwork or gold buying, or long term players.
Gee GGS don’t you understand the primary principal of any business- HAPPY CUSTOMERS (PLAYERS) MAKE GREAT CUSTOMERS AND A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS!!!!
There are a whole lot of players that are NOT happy with this event, especialy at the Holiday –
Christmas time! Most businesses want to do something nice for their customers now!! Come on GGS, please fix this event, it could be such fun!! Make it fair for all players, if some like a hard challenge, make different levels! Lower the amounts so we can have fun with it! Make the “help fair too” If I am helping someone else, let me help them with the products they needed from the start, not from my empty stores! I had to do 4,510 olives and 1,600 sweet scented oil which required olives too! I had 1 olive orchard level 5 – 85/6 hrs. or 2,040. Even with 2 maxed out level 7 Olive Orchards I could only make 95/6 hours or 4,560 olives if I never missed a harvest. I even bought $4,059,000 in olives, so my co-op would not have to help me. Then, when I went to help others who could not do step 5 and 6, my olives and oil, it wanted the same amounts!! NO WAY, IMPOSSIBLE, without tons of gold which I cannot do IMO totally wrong GGS! I do hope that GGS will do more to make this right!!!!! Lower the numbers please!!! We have families, holiday shopping, decorating, parties, children, work, etc. This should be fun!!!! I have worked VERY hard to build my Co-op and they do not like this event either, but they still worked very hard at it! We can only hope that the 2nd week is better and that GGS makes some additional changes!
My Co-op will not complete Week 1 at 100%. Some are at 100%, yes. We have players from brand new to well over a year of playing and maybe even older than that of all levels! I am VERY proud of all of their efforts and participation in this event! They ALL did a GREAT job and will keep the happiness points that they have earned!!!
I don t know about most other co-ops out there, I only know about my own. in my co-op we all mostly had problems with our two bottom slots of the list. which for those of you who are not understanding this means that if it took 6 days for me to finish that on my list then it means that I m almost no help to those that can t do it themselves.
yes yes I know we did not have to start some of those items. or should I say, I know now. which is a serious problem to begin with. to do an event we all need to read the forums. well we do not all do that and again yes yes as a co-op leader some of you will say that it is my responsibility to let my members know about things like that. if only that were easy though. not everyone reads their in game mail. and with the little amount that you can put into a co-op wide message it s not easy to begin explaining all of this event in those few words. again yes yes I could kick those members that do not read their in game mail but is that a reason to kick someone? up until this event it did not really matter if someone did not read the helpful tips or welcomed a new member because they are not the talkative type. did Good Games make an event for me to have reasons to kick some members??
ahh members!! yes I used the double exclamation points of doom because that is what this event is for some members. those that do not play often and just log in and see a new event and just click and don t know that donating might doom the rest of the co-op. out with those members!! just to make sure the rest of us are not brought down unjustly. oh and don t get me started on new members. I guess for the next month we should not accept any new members just to make sure that again we are not doomed by the random clicking of exploration.
I look at things more in the sense that; why would having started something end up penalizing me. which is why I just started donating like a whole lot of other players. I was burned too like many other players not quite as bad as the poor guy who donated over 400k dung. but I myself donated more than I should have by accident by pressing the donate all button. the button has been fixed but I still started donating to all seven items on the list without knowing that I did not exactly have to. haha I love how "i don t have to donate", haha. that s hilarious. if I am not sure about being able to fill an "order" on my list I can skip it. doesn t that mean I won t get my 100% and don t I need my 100%? does that mean that the 100% is kind of useless to have? if I do not have 100% because I did not do an item at all, are there no repercussions from that? again why the percentage if it does not matter? to me the percentage makes it seem kind of important to get the 100%. but just to get this paragraph (and this post) over with, we ll go with "it will not affect anything for week two from either happening or being harder or anything bad". that still means that my decoration does not get at least a few extra .001 points of happiness from what I could have filled of the impossible to fill order.
which brings me to yet another paragraph; the decorations happiness. the way I play and have played the game, I think that anyone over level 100 needs this decoration to reach at least 147 happiness points for it to be worthwhile. at least 147. anything below 3 happiness point per square space is not worth the trouble since the decorations that we can get from doing very well with the temporary farms and the higher difficulty week long events are at least that. so in a sense I have to donate everything I can even the items I can t fully fill the order for. but if I do that... oh no!! double exclamation points of doom.
by now it is well past midnight and into Monday and I will get to see what has happened. did we move to week two as a co-op? did only those of us who finished our orders move to week two? did only those of us that filled our orders, all of our orders to 100% move on to week two? or did we fail as a co-op?
some of you won t have thought of this so I will tell you. I sat here writing all of this as Sunday turned into Monday instead of being in game adding to other members donation lists because it was or at least seems a little useless since there was no way I could do much more than just add a little to their contribution (4 members finished their list out of 12)and I have no idea how all of this was going to turn out (I still do not yet). Frankly I m demoralized enough by this whole event that I logged into the game and checked on our progress. I then logged into the forums before collecting and restarting everything on my farms. I don t care. this event has gotten me down enough that I JUST DO NOT CARE!!
this event was the worse so far. never has the Big Farm community been as much on the same page as with their hatred for this event. and lets face it the internet is made for complaining so if this event cause our complaining to be focused it s a testament as to how horrible it was. it still is somewhat since from what I read in the forums, most of us either completely stopped working on our lists or at best leisurely worked at it. so a lot of us more or less wasted two days. no one can say "well that is your own fault for not having worked as hard as you could while Good Games worked on making it better" because they do not have the best track record when it comes to "fixing" things or to actual compensations. not all of us have been burned before but again, I would say a lot of us that have been here for quite a while have. if you ve learned from your lesson you take it slow. you don t just jump into the fire and hope it does not burn. then we are told it s "fixed" and we need to do everything in a very short amount of time without still knowing how any of this really works. show of hands please: who knew that when we would try to help out a co-op member with their list that we would have to donate what we had donated to our own list in that slot and not donate something else i.e. what they were donating. I m pretty sure I m not seeing many virtual hands up.
seriously, I m sitting here writing what is quickly becoming a Game of Thrones size post instead of farming. the only reason I m going back to it tonight is out of responsibility to my co-op members because at the moment I seriously do not want to try to figure out how the rest of this is working out.
for those of you who like or even love this event, I m very happy for you guys. go you guys go. I wish you could enjoy it enough for me.
Woohoo Farms!!
@Alisha27 (INT1) To move on to the next deco each week, it only takes 1 member to complete 100% provided that all other members stay on 0%. For every other member that reaches 100% it is adding more happiness to the final deco that you all win. But ALL orders that are started, must reach 100% by the end of Sunday or the coop will not move on to the next deco the following week.
It looks like in your coop you had some orders that were started, but not completed to 100%, so at the moment you are still adding happiness to the Igloo deco. All the happiness you gathered last week still counts, so if you make sure that on sunday you finish off all the orders that are started this week, then next week you will see that green highlighted border move up to the next deco.
Not nice guys, not nice ...
Anyway GG to all of you, good for you
On the other note - kicking out people and taking them back just to reset their score should be considered cheating and as such sanctioned , it is preposterous that it is even possible
We had some orders that were hardly started, the lowest 2 were 1% & 7% but we worked really hard & got all orders up to 100% with some great teamwork. Then just as we completed the last order, a new one appeared on 1% which was obviously a blow to us after all our effort. It turned out it was started accidentally & yes we did reset that one & I don`t consider it to be "cheating" at all.
edit - I should rephrase - it is an exploit rather than cheating (I believe that is a correct term, english is not my first language so it is sometimes hard to be very precise).
Wheat 9,520
Goat Feed 450
Eggs 37,270
Essence of Jasmine 1,930
Citrus Fruits 5,040
Fruit Cake With Cream 5,070
Pasta Fruit Baskets 5,300
I had Fruit Cake With Cream last week and donated everything I had that was over my list. So I would start with 0. Pasta Fruit baskets take 10 hrs. No time for Honey Cream!
------------------
Another Co-op member's list Level 66 is:
Corn 6390
Donkey Feed 180
Liquid Fertilizer 130
Aloe Vera Gel 800
Box of Soaps 590
Fruit Cakes With Cream 4,690
Sweet Scented Oil 340
---------------------
And another Level 93 is:
Really ties up our flower shop making pasta gift baskets-that only sell for 200 each when we need to make the Honey Cream-that sells for 2,000 each!! We need the $ to run our farms and do the temporary farm too!
It would take a whole lot of work to do any of these lists and as one member said it is just not good business! And we need to make all the items needed to produce all of this is only 6 days too!
I have some other things to do this week too! Business and medical appointments and some shopping I need to do. 100 mile trip to the city! And my sister is in town, back from a long trip and I want to see her and lots more to do too! I'm sure that others have things to do too! I play a WHOLE LOT and this is hard for me too!
This is not at all what I wanted to see in this event. Other members have some of the same items, so if I can barely finish mine, how can I help others!
It really, really hurts to see this event leave so many Co-op members out because they work or have families or other obligations and cannot play 24/7 and if they are not rich, cannot buy gold either! Sounds to me like they are discriminating against some of the players!! IMO it is telling them, either you give up your life or you hurt the whole Co-op if you even try to do the event!!! IMO is saying we don't want you to participate!! Just the opposite of what I want as a Co-op leader, I want all of my TEAM to participate!! Not at all what a TEAM is all about!!!!! My whole Co-op is not at all happy about this!!!! Maybe we should just stop the event. Or everyone just do what they want for the happiness on the first Deco and forget the 100%! At least then everyone could share in the fun! Yes, we have a choice, but why does it have to be to leave players out, or to give up our lives to play the game full time vs our lives and families! I WANT MY WHOLE TEAM to be able to play and participate, even if only a little!!! This is Holiday FUN TIME!!! Christmas Time!!! Don't you understand that GGS!!! Where's your Holiday TEAM
Spirit!!!????
WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THIS EVENT IN MY CO-OP-20 PLAYERS!!!!
I was going to not do it and/or close my co-op and go to one of the nice invites I got, but someone else already started on week 2 (and doesn't reply still, and I'm the leader), so I'll just sit out this week.
- I had donated even more goods last night, raising someone from 24 to 54 percent, and still have 0 %, that is not a glitch, it's just the high demands.
- To answer a question about missing deco: you will only get one at the very end, the way I understood it.
All for what is still, after millions of dollars, a level 1 deco with 20 percent happiness haha.
ETA: NEW QUESTION: WTF?
I meant to sit this one out, but all my olive oil etc is gone, and I found it in Santa's pocket. I never donated oil etc. I went to bed before midnight. Surely I can't have sleep walked, turned on the computer, logged in, donated, turned it all off and sleep walked back to bed???? I'd nearly prefer it to be a thieving glitch. Help?
hopefully they will listen..
The Official Announcement says:
If a cooperative member leaves, or is removed during the course of one event step, all additional progress they contributed to the happiness meter will be lost. These users have to start their orders over again if they join another cooperative or re-join their existing cooperative.
And it should be in in-game rules, not only on forum, most players don't use forums, so majority doesn't even know that they can do this. I read the announcement and many comments in this thread and that part slipped past me ...
And the part I said about signatures was just a joke ...
with good points of happines it will be pretty good deco.
decorations for dollars have about 1,6 points of happines
decorations for gold have about 3 points of happines
our deco is 7x7 = 49 so if we will reach about 150 points of happines at the end of event, we will get "gold" deco, not bad, i think.
hope my counts are ok
Or will we get only one deco when the event is over with the final happiness and quality and such?
Thanks!
I have to admit to being a bit confused. when I first read the instructions I am sure it said what others have said here that if an order went unfilled it kept the co-op from obtaining the weekly level. Now when reading the instructions it makes note- everyone should play because unfilled orders don't count against the co-ops progress... so can someone fill me in on which is accurate.
Feeling stupid now....
Excerpt from the announcement:
"...Overall difficulty of upcoming event steps has been decreased slightly; overlapping requirements for different list items have been reduced to a minimum to further equalize (and reduce) the difficulty for all players..."
@Nafaru @Latten
People in our Team still have overlapping requirements, like jasmine and essence of jasmine, almonds and apple pie for example
Moreover, we find that several of our players at intermediate - low level have lists which include too many products from flower farm.
A player at level 50-60 has only just started building flower farm and cannot possibly supply 3 items which need the use of a distillery. An example: a player has been asked to provide Aloe Vera gel, floral perfume and essence of jasmine
Players who are still at intermediate/low levels should have more items that can be produced in main and gourmet farm.
My biggest concern is the Last Chance Sunday, when we are able to top up contracts that our team mates have not been able to finish. There were half a dozen or so contracts still open, and the only item the game would allow me to donate was muffins - which was pretty much impossible as I had already donated all my muffins for my own order. Other people in the co-op were being asked for cakes. Cakes were hard for them but would have been a lot easier for me because my barns were full of them. It seems the game chose the item we were most likely to be completely out of and assigned that one for us to donate. Not good, GGS!
The problem is, that it most likely will be the same line that is difficult for most of the players, and therefore it will be difficult to have enough to help others. This week, the 6th row seem to be bakery goods for most players. And if someone needs help with that line, I have to deliver extra fruitcake. It is impossible to produce 4000+ fruitcake in a day without gold, which is what I need for 100%
That is why it is important that players who can not deliver almost all of their order does not start. If many members have less than 25% on the same row, it will be impossible for the co-op to help them on Sunday.
What happens to coops that didn't have 100% completion from every member that started the SWL last week? Our coop had 15 people that had incomplete lists. Please explain what happens in this case and for moving forward? There are people on this thread asking this same question and we need clarity. In our case, the star at the top of our tree reads 47. Is our snowy igloo deco worth 47 at this point? Or do we go back to whatever the base value was at day 1?
I don't see much incentive if this is truly an "all or none" event. We worked way too hard last week and yesterday to find out it was all for nothing.
@jules314 (US1) this might help with your question, I am posting a quote from a player on the EN Forum:
"To move on to the next deco each week, it only takes 1 member to complete 100% provided that all other members stay on 0%. For every other member that reaches 100% it is adding more happiness to the final deco that you all win. But ALL orders that are started, must reach 100% by the end of Sunday or the coop will not move on to the next deco the following week."
@RunsWivScissors (GB1) who posted this in the forum to help another player; thanks scissors.
Please check the EN forums also there are a lot of questions/answers/discussions going on over there that might help everyone out here when they are waiting for answers.
If anyone needs to get access to the EN forum just change the US in the web address to EN once you login to the forum.

Hope that this helps.
Well, I would also like to know the answer to that
