Mira, is not this an opinion on my opinion?  By the way I am a paying customer but I need no gold so far on this event.  I never invalidated anyone's opinion in my posting.  My post was intended to motivate and help others in the event. And I see you are not in a CO-OP, would you like to join ours and see how it's done?
No.  Your opinion was fine, but telling people to "stop bashing GG" is an opinion on other people's opinions.  Clearly they deserve whatever feedback they have received, so they don't need you to stand up for them.  We all vote with our wallets.

Thank you for the offer, but I know perfectly well how it is done.  I opted out because I don't consider chaining myself to alarms or a computer for 5 weeks to be fun; it is the opposite and a chore for a meaningless reward I don't need or want.

The only reason many commented however is because it's more than clear with the level of dissent and stress caused by events such as this, there will soon be more of a mass exodus from the game if this is the direction things keep going.

I see nowhere that I told anyone to stop bashing GG.  What I said was "I think it is time to stop bashing GG",  Please show me where I told people to stop.  What I wrote was an opinion, not a directive.

Jiesta, thanks and what I already suspected...explains few things...
Anyways what you described happening in your coop does not happen in a 30+ member international coop with people from over 20 countries. And some members needing translator for even basic english.

Anyways, we are likely ignoring rest of the event and keeping our gold with us... :D

  • I have finished my list alone and in 6 days - I even gave more than asked for because the game said this would upgrade the deco we will get.
Today - next to my name there was written 100% - but nothing more. Other members of the coop have the same problem.
Some people have 100% and some percentage more (written next to it). Others like me - who also gave more than asked - just have 100%.
    How is this possible ?
The 100% is for filling your order completely.  Even if someone needs help filling theirs once it is done they get the 100% once it is done.  When you add extra to an item the # at the top of the tree in the star goes up, in very small increments like 0.001 at a time.  I seems to me from testing it out different products have different "star credit" value.  So it might take 2500 eggs to move it 0.001 but only 500 lavender. Hope that helps

For Last Chance Sunday the % also seems rather out of balance but really doesn't matter in the long run to me.  We were able to get all orders done and are now busy refilling the barns.  The stress of the unknown is in the past.  Now we know the best plan for the rest of the weeks and are even more excited to get our new orders.

I personally LOVE the Santa Event and the new life it has brought to our coop.  I used ZERO gold for the event, but did use some farm dollars, not a strain to my farm so I am ok with that.  Lower lvl players were encouraged to do their best and not stress or create a hardship for their farm by using farm dollars during the week at all.  We had some that needed lots of help, only 15% done in case that is a question.

We will work today to fill our vacant spots today and tomorrow.

  • Now that we have seen Last Chance Sunday and the stress of the unknown is over I have to say GREAT EVENT!  We are done, and ready to move on to week 2.  I personally spent ZERO gold on the event, only farm dollars.  I have them to spare so it wasn't a strain on my farm.  Lower lvl players were encouraged to do their best and not stain their farm by using farm dollars they need to improve their farm and keep it running.

Today we will work on refilling our barns and filling our vacant spots so we are ready for our new orders.

If you give extra to your own list, you only get 100%. If you give extra to the other players in your coop, you get a number in the last column. All members who started their order have to get to 100% and become green, in order for your coop to be able to work for the next deco the coming week. Otherwise you will be working for the same deco next week, as you were this week.

I understand that trying to fill other ppls orders on Sunday with the very same thing I was trying to do all week seems hard, but there is one thing I noticed I like about it..

If someone else finishes off someone's order I was working on, then I can just start helping the next
highest player. What I mean is, if you were trying to help someone with their cabbage, then someone
else finishes off their cabbage, now you have fields of cabbage you don't need anymore, or fields of whatever
you needed to do in order to fill their cabbage order...(unless of course, coincidentally someone else needed cabbage).
But if no-one else needed cabbage, you can't help the next person with their corn until your cabbage fields are cleared..

Also, if you were able to help everyone with what they specifically needed, you might deplete YOUR WHOLE
FARM, (and like I said earlier, someone else finishes something off, so you have to "throw out" what you were working on to get to the next order ~ of course, if you have a well communicating co-op, you can all try to decide who's helping who..but that sure would mean great communication and co-ordinating which could also be fun) then you would not be well prepared for the next week's order b/c you would be so depleted on EVERYTHING..so I think this format for the event kinda works...maybe just the totals should be lower...or at least not need raw ingredients and the finished product in the same order...BUT

maybe the totals are ok, if you have a full farm, and a fully participating co-op, and this is what
we are all trying to get to..or at least what I'm trying to get to..lol

Anyway, I guess I see Pros and Cons for this Event.

And don't we get the "frosty Igloo" or "snowbound cottage" or "glacier manor" as we crawl up the
tree...? Someone mentioned, we only get horseshoes or feed as consolation prizes if we don't do
100% all the weeks. Does anyone know?

    Thanks!

  • Well, that didn't happen. At midnight some got 100% and others got 100% + 1% (I mean those who had the full list done before). Today we all helped eachother, but nothing changed at the percentages. Strange...

I think it is so sad that ggs is clueless about the negative impact of their latest implementation. But I am not surprised. There are enough people that are completely thrilled by this event that ggs is sure to do it again. Maybe it will be like the co-op challenge and we will get to do it every other month. Then it will replace the hard worker event, so it will occur whenever there is no co-op challenge. I think there are not enough voices opposed to the event.

I am one of those people doing well in this event.  I hope they do bring it back  because this is an event small coops can do better in than bigger coops.  Every time the CC challenge comes around I ignore it because I know a 2 person coop cannot compete with the big coops.  I stay out of it and I don't get on the forums complaining about an event I don't participate in.  And I spent NO gold to complete my list; I did it by working my farm.
Cookiie, you are in a 2 member co-op and I am sure this event is fun for you and the hubby!

FarmerJojo Bell commented eloquently and accurately on this event.  Thank you!

Well, I always knew our co-op wasn't great - English remains a problem - but I did try till the last, and people neither kept donating after day one, nor replied about helping each other out. I shouldn't have tried so hard myself, or should have booted them out, I guess. This confirmation of lack of co-operation saddens me more than the loss of time and money, just as I understand Jiesta's co-op being proud.

Just out of curiosity I'd like to know if it really worked to have someone with low percentage help someone else to reach 100 percent, and have low-percentage then leave so as to reset themselves to 0. Did any of you experience if that would leave the 100 percent intact??

  • jiesta, how large coop? And dutch server I presume?

    DoomDark
Yep, on Dutch server NL1. We are with 17 members, and coming Wednesday 2 new members will join the coop. We grow slowly but we are not in a hurry and are quite selective in choosing our members. It is just a game, and none of us plays 24/7 - we all do have quite a busy life next to the pc.
First we thought of skipping this whole event - but after a few powwows we decided to give it a try to see if we could really work together in true harmony ... in the true spirit of Christmas "work together in peace and good cooperation" - ..... and - well - WOW we did it!

one needs to plan a tight schedule and we all used our kitchen alarms again  ;), but it was doable.

Congratulations on finishing, but to me the above is the antithesis of fun and what I look for in a game or entertainment.  This isn't my job, and I have no intention of setting alarms to check in on it when I have far greater areas of priority in my life that don't get enough attention as it is.  A tight schedule is also the last thing I desire especially if this is the easy week, approaching the holidays.

When you don't feel like it, then just skip the whole event. Everybody is free to do it or leave it. At our coop we like a good challenge but there are more, smaller and easier events to come for the holidays, so maybe these will be more attractive to you .... I am sure there is something for everybody during the month of December.
Easy to say.. when you don't feel like it??? my coop is doing the best they can, but this is mad.. so it's not a choise. we just can't do it! something like this should be fun for everyone, not just 2 or 3 coops that aren't having a dificult list or have no other live!

my coop otherwise had to get 100.000 items like appel eggs etc. that would be difficult enough.. wouldn't you think? i thought so!
  • Fawners (US1)Fawners (US1) US1 Posts: 436
Wow, just wow. Well, I could not really help any co-op members...and I was pretty loaded on everything but what my list had already drained me of... My list already wanted the not possible 6610 almond muffins, but now wants me to fulfill that same amount of muffins for a player that was donating apples originally. :( I could have done apples to help, but I don't think Sunday Help day is going to be a very good day. People won't be able to help anyone if they even attempted to fill their own list.

Other members needed eggs, apple pies, cabbages, apples, I could have helped with all of those items, but I can not donate 920 Sweet Scented Oils to assist to make up for the lack of eggs for another member!!! I tried to remain positive until today, just held out hope this would be what made the event a little more doable. It's not going to happen. Not one person in my co-op could make it happen, lots of players tried, but even with help today, not one of us will hit 100%.  :'(
    Thank you - well said!
  • Please, what does the percentage mean in the Last Chance Sunday Box. I have a 1%, but I finished early Saturday. Can some one help explain. Thanks.
Did you finish all 7 items? I think the 1% is the percent that you helped others/others helped you on Sunday

Yes, I finished all 7 of my items early Saturday morning. But others in my coop that helped do not have a percentage in that column.

I think they didn't donate as much as 1 percent then? Considering how the percentage of happiness eg. only raised by 0.005 with a large additional donation, I think that is likely.

ETA: yes, that's the reason. I donated all my cakes to someone (pointlessly, as a test) and got no percentages either, because they would have needed much much more.

    Observation: Single point of failure?

Walking this process out (if I understand it correctly) there is 'single point of failure' in this event.
    1. Every Wish List that is started must be completed 100% w/in the week before the deco's quality level will increase
    2. If even one member who started a Wish List fails to achieve 100%, then the whole co-op has to start over from zero the next week - in terms of reaching a higher quality deco. (for the moment, I'm ignoring other benefits like payment for donated items or any increase in the deco happiness level)
    3. If 1 & 2 above are true, then a single member with a single mouse click over the span of 6 days could sink the combined efforts of the entire co-op by starting a Santa's List - say late in the week - even as late as Sunday! There is no back button for starting the List.
That just seems like a really, really BAD design flaw. As one person commented earlier, some members are having difficulty understanding the details of the event. If they think this event is like a co-op project or a mission, they will just start donating what they can. In my case, we added a member Sunday morning who immediately started their list (on the last day) w/out realizing the consequences. Fortunately, we have several who aren't going to make 100% so it doesn't really matter. Can you imagine what the effect would have been if we were all at a 100% & believed we'd achieved the next deco level? If I'm wrong here, PLEASE say so!

I'm not the first to suggest this, GGS, but this 100% completion for all 7 items rule has got to go. It shuts down team participation in this event & it jeopardizes the combined 7 day efforts of the whole co-op.

    ************************************
    Questions: Last Chance Sunday column
    1. What do the percentages in this column measure? (if it is how much I've donated to others, what is the divider? What is this a percentage of?)
    2. In the same column, what do the different colors signify? (different shades of red & green)

  • i got 100% on my lists then kept making stuff that others needed.  We have been keep each other informed on what we all need.   Thing is - when I go to other members groups I cannot give anything. Not that I don't have, I do, but there is an symbol by picture of unfullfilled item.  Hover over it and it says this player has to give 2014 Milk or so many eggs or some such thing.  WT????   How is it we are being prevented from helping other team members?  All this hoopla about helping helping on 7th day.  After my stuff got done then I started making what I knew others needed.   A few I can complete but not all.  I can atleast add to their total.  BUT I am blocked from doing so until they donate so many apples or some such.

WHY IS THIS??     Two in our coop - list says they need more apple pies.  There is small symbol of fruit pies with cream.  I am prevented from donating my apple pies to this member.  Message says "this coooperative member has to donate fruit pies with cream.     A third co op member - needs items I have but the am not allowed to cause "this cooperative member has to donate milk?

We have really worked hard this week to do well.  I was completely shocked when I saw this.  If we are to help each other on the 7th day then let us help each other!!!!!

  • This event would have been better if they had changed the bakery and had us making cookies (and milk) for Santa.  As is, this would have been a great one week challenge, however, 4 weeks of maxing hours and production, it seems that the point of this event is to only empty out our barns and get us to buy gold for time reduction or bigger barns for more storage.  I spent most of the last year in a wheelchair with only worker's comp to pay my bills, so buying gold has not been an option.  Thankfully I have found a great coop that doesn't make you donate gold or "force" you to use it during events.  A comment I hear a lot lately is:  "real" farmers work less than this.  GGS has this forum, maybe the could use it to talk to players about event before they happen.  I think having, Santa, Asia, Piggels, AND The island event at the same time is going to cause burnout more than increased game play.

    Just my 2 cents,

Last chance Sunday has not started on the US server. I logged into my account on the international server to see how much time was left on the event and of course, its the same as the US server. At this time we have lost over 5 hours of helping our members! Other servers have this time to help their members, we do not! Do you know how much can be done in 5hrs? If not I can post some figures. We are losing valuable time!

UPDATE: Last chance Sunday started (midnight EST for me) but that still leaves the folks on the US server with less time than other servers.

The last chance "Sunday" for the US Sever starts on Saturday at 9PM  PST when the new daily tasks come out and goes until 9PM Sunday PST.

We did clarify this on the forum, but I don't have time to find the post right now.

IMO ALL OF THIS INFORMATION SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE VERY CLEAR IN THE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

  • This event is not impossible like people are making it out to be. I have a pretty big Co-op and we got everyone to 100% today. Yes, the numbers make it look like it's impossible, and yes, it can be hard to do on your own for most of the week .But If everyone/most of your Co-op is willing to help on Sundays, it shouldn't be that hard to get done. Now, I don't like how there are substitutes for the uncompleted items. That makes things more difficult only because its pretty much randomized and you can't really prepare for it. if you have good communication, and hard working players, then it should be a piece of cake. Also, you really don't need gold for this event.Unless you wanted to skip everything fill up the list faster, then your gold will decrease. But really,  It's only the farm dollars that you'll be draining. But now that you can get paid to donate products, there really isn't a problem. I totally understand if different Co-ops don't want to participate, the only point I'm trying to make is that it isn't impossible. I mean, no one wants a trophy if its just handed to them, right?

It isn't random, you have to use the same product you did on that line of your own order.  It does show you what the other person's order item was.  So to prepare for next week once you have filled a line in your order rather than add extra right away refill the barn first then only add the excess that you would be selling off anyway.  I am basically ignoring market orders during the event too.

OKAY - you can chop my head of if you wish ....... but I do love this challenge!!!

WE DID IT!! An hour ago our cooperation finished the first week of this event with 100% !!! We worked together in harmony and talked each step over (chat never was busier) and everybody was able to help everybody. Sometimes with only a small donation, other times with larger donations. 2 of us waited till midnight CET when this *last chance Sunday* started to figure things out and practice the system. And this morning these 2 were able to instruct all others when they cam online. 2 others watched Santa's List carefully and kept track of who should be donating what to whose order(s).... and everything we did was aimed at getting our barns again as full as possible before midnight. Around 2 pm we had all orders finished 100% except for 1, and everybody chipped in with bits and pieces to finish that one too. Only 1 member left the coop this afternoon (we all cheered/applauded him in the chat) and will come back first thing tomorrow morning! We copied him in on all steps taken up to now to keep him informed.

Hard? Yes, it was hard - especially when you have 2-4 orders asking for the same product(s); one needs to plan a tight schedule and we all used our kitchen alarms again (as we are all often AFK)  ;), but it was doable. And yes, me and my deputies sometimes thought their head would explode this morning ... there was so much to talk over and so much to check - but that's all forgotten ... because WE DID IT!!

FYI: most of us do have a job, or a household with kids, or are otherwise busy (I myself was away for 2 days this week) and up until now none of us used gold to get there. Yes, we bought goods when necessary and we used our Farm Flash frequently. We just leave our Market Contracts with the same products as on Santa's List idle, and ignore the neighbors. Only once I couldn't send my ship away in time, it had to wait +2 hours in the harbor for goods I first needed for Santa's List.

This challenge forces us to work even more together than ever before; we first discussed each step to take before taking it and if we needed to bring individual offers, everybody seemed willing to do so. I experienced that as long as you explain things well to your members, they will cooperate and are glad to help out. This challenge has boosted the spirits and enlivened the chat again ... Solidarity already was great within the coop but is now even bigger! Needless to say I am and we all are so incredibly proud of our cooperation!!  :)

Very much looking forward to proceed this challenge for the next 4 weeks.

We may be able to reach that Ice Castle, may be not. But we will certainly give it our best efforts and main thing is we do have fun!

You are not alone.  I am afraid for my own head here, too, but here we go :)

The atmosphere was exactly as you described. Very active chat, lots of coorination, coop mesages...
It was hard but worht it. AND we are on www, coop of 40 members.

At first it was a big shock as we found out that everybody is short of backery products. After firts attack of panick, we organised and everything went smooth.
Most members were at 100%  around midday, but we had two players left that had almost no cakes to begin with. We negotiated with them to leave the coop and come back on monday if we fail to fill their lists, but at the end,  that was not nessesery at all. Everybody finished by now, except five that are absent and did not start the game at all.
Anyway, it was real preparation for hollidays: everybody baked cookies and cakes :)

Hopefully, next week wont be much harder than the first one.

I tried going over the whole lot of discussions, in search of my question that if 1 or 2 players miss out to complete their orders 100^% then
only these players play the 1st week again
        or
Then whole Coop has to play the Week 1 again.
The whole coop has to go trough the Week one again.
