Here ist my opinion regarding the "disagree-Button":

I don't like these Buttons because they can provoke a very negative atmosphere
and let people lose their control.
You can see this in my own thread in our German Forum!
It is soo awful and I don't want to talk there anymore in this thread because of
abuses and Dislikes in my profile.

Sorry, for my English but it isn't my native language.

@Katze-Lilli (DE1) = Thank you for sharing your opinion with us! Danke dass du deine Meinung mit uns teilt!
  • Some of you guys are real funny and somewhat a reflection of the current times where everyone wants to be rewarded either they arrive first or last, and no one wants their feelings hurt because that's just boowoohoo.

Life is about agreeing and disagreeing, you don't like people disagreeing with what you post but you do adore it when people press that agree feature eh?  So when it's bad you don't like it but when it's ONLY can be good you love it?

Sorry but I DISAGREE and love this button, which I have yet to use once but it's there now unlike the lack of "unlike" in facebook where you cannot show people without having to comment that you do not like their page but it's strange that you can "like" all you want without ever commenting.

Don't like the disagree?  Good... live with it.

*sigh* Maybe I should come in one more time, because you are all MISSING THE POINT!

I do not mind if people disagree with me, but they disagree with something they cannot disagree with! They disagree with facts. So what are you saying then. My facts are not right? I can prove it to you... But I have no clue what they disagreed me for so how will I be able to say something to it?!

The whole entire point is that people use the disagree button when it is not necessary or even possible to use it and THAT is my problem. Because the only reason people can think of when somebody disagrees with them and there was no clear reason is: this an attack on me as a person, not on this post.

If I type an opinion, yes, you can agree or disagree and you are very welcome to disagree with me a million times. But if I am just being helpful and stating facts or an answer to your question, then wth does that disagree even mean?! And THAT is what gets me so mad!

    There...
    is...
    simply...
    no...
    possibility...
    to...
    disagree...
    with...
    some...
    types...
    of...
    posts.

I do understand what you are upset/mad/annoyed about & I totally agree that it makes no sense to disagree with a fact, anymore than it does to disagree with a question or, one that made me laugh....me telling someone that I would PM them lol ... The point I was trying to make is that the button did not create the numptys, they were there all along, looking at your facts and thinking "ooh I don`t agree with that" & if the button is removed they will still be there. So it is not worth getting upset over it, the only difference the button makes is that we all get to see their numptiness now, when they click it. photo Dork_zpsr2yoksgdgif

Ghehe, well I did not really point my post as much to you as to others in here that simply complain about us not being able to cope with critics ; ) I could cope with fair critics. Yes I may get upset, but it would not make me request for a button to be removed. It is the unfair or even ridiculously useless critics that bother me the most and make me finally write my opinion about something : 3 You know I usually only give information about facts : )

If you notice or suspect users to spam your profile with dislikes, "Spam" notifications etc, feel free to drop us a message. We will, of course, check, and if we can verify this is a case of harassment rather than proper, if annoying use of these functions, there will be warnings :)

Harassment with the instant reactions is as punishable as harassment through posts and words.

Well - I guess that's just the point, @Latten: we DON't know who it is because these buttons are anonymous. So numptys (thx for that word, @Scissors) can hide behind that "disagree" button. So we simply can't drop you a message - and a suspicion isn't good enough IMHO, it might just hurt others .... which, as this thread has made clear (at least tried to): is just the thing we would like to avoid.

In addition to Larino's post here above: when you disagree, just tell us, we are open for any meaning/discussion - but DO tell us why, so that we can react properly. Don't just hide behind a button!

It should be obvious if somebody is really abusing the function and plastering disagrees all over your posts, even old ones.

In such cases you won't even have to name whoever you suspect of doing that, as it's not relevant. If someone is clearly abusing the function (as happened with Graycat Ashes on the Empire forums apparently), we will of course see a pattern and warn those abusing the function.

Same goes for flagging posts for no reason other than to harass other players. While we only get notified after a certain amount of flags is reached, you may always drop us a message if you suddenly notice a flag on several posts of yours that make absolutely no sense and we will look into the issue.

Please do NOT resort to flagging other players because you suspect they might have flagged your posts. This will end in an endless war of self-administered 'justice' that doesn't help anyone and only causes more work and emotional distress than actually needed to everyone involved.
  • Hello there.  I would like to propose that the "Disagree" button be traded out for a "Thank You" button.

I have notice many people are very good at helping others in the forum and a Thank You button would show their gratitude.  Thank you is much more positive and could encourage other people to be helpful.

    Thanks for reading!

    =)

I agree that the dislike button could cause some hurt feelings. However, I don't know if it really needs to be removed... in all honesty, how many people really pay attention to it? Those buttons only show up when you hover your mouse over the post. If the answer is "everybody" or "99 percent of people" then yes, maybe it could be removed. If the answer is "barely anyone", then what does it matter? ;) Though it would certainly be nice if the person could contribute to the discussion and explain their own reasoning! :)

I, for one, knew they were there but never paid any attention lol. Now I'm going to have to go look at my few-and-far-between previous posts. ;)

And really, if people are going to disagree with this particular post... it doesn't bother me either. I don't expect everyone to agree with what I say. :) Chances are, if someone is willy-nilly clicking buttons, they're just trying to stir the pot or they think they're being funny - truth be it they've got some growing up to do, and that's their problem, not mine lol.

That being said - I get a kick out of that LOL button... 'cause everyone knows how much work it is to go to the bottom of the page (or click "quote"), click in the message box, type "LOL" and hit 'post comment'... ;)

Maybe society would benefit by actually going outside and talking to people lol. ;)

P.S. I think Farmer Jo Jo's idea is GREAT! A 'thank you' button would be awesome for those informative posts that offer so many tips and ideas!
  • It is the same with a forum on my local paper. I forget the full details but someone made a nice comment on a babies life being saved and someone put a "disagree" against it !

Thank you moderators for removing those opinionated posts from your Halloween contest thread, so that it got back to containing nothing but stories/poems for people to read and enjoy, the way it should be.
Not long after the removal, somebody clicked "disagree" on quite many poems/stories tonight. How silly and childish is that, and a perfect example of abusing the disagree button..

It makes me quite sad that some people manage to put a sour taint on such a wonderful contest, is it really so hard to JUST READ and enjoy all those beautiful and witty poems and stories, without throwing your opinions around (good or bad mind you)? Have some respect towards every single person, young or old, who had the courage to put their work on public display without throwing eggs or glue flowers, somebody is going to get hurt either way. Is that really too much to ask?

Thanks for the notification about this abuse, Michiru. We will look into this asap.

After extensive analysis of the usage of reactions across all international forums, we have come to the conclusion that the reactions will need to be reworked. Soon, "agree" and "disagree" will be removed, as the abuse is unfortunately getting out of hand in some cases. The advantages of having this button just don't justify the time invested in hunting those abusing it. In addition to the removal of those two, we will add another positive reaction that will enable you to show your appreciation for another player's post. :)

You mean like having 8 disagrees from one day to the next on a random number of fairly old and recent posts, including ones' where no opinion is actually stated at all that could be disagreed with lol! Who knows, maybe it was a temporary fit in the name of a Halloween prank. Either that, or somebody really wants Krampus to visit them heheh *waves at stalker*

Thank you. So very much. Was mildly hoping to see this in the most recent update announcement.. any chance it'll be implemented before Christmas?

Wow, someone's bitter for all the wrong reasons. I'll have them agree that we all agree to disagree on when the function should be used. ;)

Since forum and game updates happen independently, forum changes won't be announced along with game changes. And I think we have good chances that the function is gone before Christmas. We would like to have it gone rather sooner than later.

I am not for or against the "Disagree" button as every one is entitled to an opinion, good or bad. I suggest to not take them personally. Yes it would be nice if the person who does disagree would also post why.

Quick question: When the agree and disagree buttons are removed, do we also lose our Agree badges? No biggie, just curious. :)

They should still remain on your account, I think :)
  • I can't believe how much energy has been spent from some of you to debate something as...... silly as this.  I mean all of thise for a forum option?  Some of you either have way too much time on your hands on just love to stire up drama.  Really?  Debating whether or not the forum should remove the disagree?  Why not it removing all buttons too, agree and like and lol too?

Those of us who are very active on the forum don't appreciate being sniped at anonymously by people who misuse the Disagree button. Players in other forums have also expressed this opinion. That's why it's an issue and worth discussion. :)

  • I don't know why this is even an issue really.
this is a perfect example you could have simply hit disagree rather than post your  comment expressing your opinion.

Farmer John could have simply hit disagree with your post rather than express his opinion.

The purpose of the forum from how I see it is to encourage interaction and build a community.  If we are just going to have someone post a comment and then have everyone hit a button as to if they agree/disagree/like/lol then we are really just voting or polling not really interacting.  The fact that some choose to use the buttons as a tool or weapon is also a problem.  They know they are anonymous so they can target every post by a certain person or persons.  The mods spend enough time trying to keep the forum civil and offer support and information.   There are better uses for their time having to investigate if the button is being abused or used as a weapon.

ooooh my I bow before you god of many posts... lets not dare disagree with your comments!  How dare of us little mortals to do such horrors upon you!

Really? As if somehow it mattered if it was anynimous or not?  None of us would care less if the disgree would give the names of whom ever used it.  I mean geeees... some of you guys are going almost psychotic on this, like waaaaayyyy too deep.

And a forum is a forum, it exist for what you make of it, doesn't exist for what YOU make of it only but what everyones makes of it, either ONLY reading it or participating and posting so interacting is a lie because MOST people just read the forum and don't post.
