Are the videos kompatible with GGS's PRIVACY POLICY ?

Now GGS's and/or their 3rd party partners in more than 2 month have spammed us with suspect 3rd party files (or have try to do it, some of us have blocked for it)... also those of us who never have open any of the videos. :(

GSS says these files not contains virus or other types of malware... hmmm? how can they be so sure on that, when they not test the videos before they distributes them to us?

GGS have tell us these suspect files only are harmless cookies...
Harmless? That comes as depends on what information these cookies contains about us, and how the information being used, and being used by who?

On GGS information site about their privacy policy, they tell us this:

Cookies of third party providers and tracking:

Our websites use Google’s remarketing technology. All this only inform us about Google's files, and something about facebook files, and there is also something about twitter (I have not quoted the text about twitter)
And at least GGS also tell us how we can unsubscribe Google, facebook and twitters data collecting. :)

But there is not just one word about files from supersonic, unrullymedia and the other 3rd party video partners, what information these video partners collect about us, how they use the information they collect about us and so on...
And there is not any information about how we can block/unsubscribe for the unwanted suspect files from the 3rd party video partners. :(

My question is now:
how believable is it when GGS write the following about their privacy policy:

PRIVACY POLICY FOR ONLINE SERVICES

Altigi GmbH/Goodgame Studios, Theodorstr. 42-90, Haus 9, 22761 Hamburg, and other companies of the Goodgame Studios Group (“Goodgame Studios”), take the protection of your personal information very seriously.

If GGS continue want to spam us with these 3rd files from their video partners, I suggest GGS edit their claims about their privacy policy, so they telling the truth about these 3rd party video partners suspect files and how we can avoid them/block for them...
or alternatively remove the sentence "take the protection of your personal information very seriously.", because as I see it, as long we being spammed with 3rd party suspect files even we not open the videos, that sentence is a lie!

Comments

  • I agree with the serious problems with the videos.  They know ask questions to improve the videos??  Who is asking and where would this go?  It will not go away today.

    Hey there Brian,

the short answer to your question: yes, the videos and everything that goes along with them are compatible with our privacy policy. In case data is sent or stored, it is is anonymized so that our partners cannot track back anything to your personal computer or IP.

The cookies and outbound connections you mentioned are mostly used to track and ensure that videos are displayed properly and watched long enough in order to make you eligible for rewards.

    Regards
    Steffi

For players who open the videos, that explanation sound logic and acceptable...

But maybe I'm stupid... But I can simply not understand how that explanation should could legalize and make it acceptable, that your 3rd party video ads will save data on my hard drive when I have never opened a single one of these videos!

Websites store all kinds of data for your convenience.

Even if you don't watch our videos, data such as e.g. your chosen language within the game is saved and forwarded in order to be able to deliver videos in the appropriate language.

If you would like to prevent cookies from being stored in general, you can check the settings of your browser. Here's an explanation on how to handle cookies in Chrome and what they are used for.

Other browsers will have similar settings and guides on how to find them. However, please be informed that blocking cookies could lead to undesired behaviour with some websites or games.

Questions:  why does my computer warn me that this site, the forum, and the game itself do not supply identity information?  Also, why does this site have https and the game only this:  http://bigfarm.goodgamestudios.com/       But the http usually does not show??

This old gal is having to learn way too much about computers.  But it is saving me from buying a memory/brain app. lol

As long I don't open the videos, these 3'rd party videos data can not be to my convenience - it's just unnecessary files on my computer!
Your explanation still only are current for players who open the videos.

Other websites I'm playing on, do not save 3'rd party data on my computer.

So i'm sorry to say it: Although GGS has full confidence in their 3rd party video partners, I do not share this confidence in these 3rd party video partners, and that why I'm blocking them from saving their suspect data on my computer.

The s in https means it's a secure (encrypted) data transfer connection - even if somebody spy at your https data transfer eg if it's over a wireless connection, it's useless for them because it's encrypted.

Every website stores cookies on your computer, you can't use the internet without them.

However you can automatically clear them after each time you close your internet browser. All your cookies will be deleted and nothing stays on your computer. There are sites for every browser on how to delete them automatically or just leave them on your computer to the time they expired (some will stay for a couple of years and some for only this session, that depends on the website you use).
  • If you use multiple browsers, CCleaner.com from piriform deletes caches and cookies and other unnecessary items from all of them with only a couple clicks.
  • Nonsense @PINJO1986 (NL1) , of course the Internet can run without cookies.
lots of websites do not use cookies, eg. my own http://fjollefarm.latestdot.dk/ do not use cookies because there no good reason for me and/or my user's to use cookies at that site.
    - There is also lots of other sites out there not using cookies.

It's correct that I can setup my browsers to automatically clear all cookies  after each time I close my internet browser...
    But that will be very
uncomfortable for me, because it's correct some cookies is used in the right way, to make life easier for us.

A good example for the good way to use cookies, is how GGS's Bigfarms using cookies:
When I want to play Bigfarm, I open my browser, choose Bigfarm in my bookmarks, and Viola: The game start up and I can start playing right away.

But if I setup my browser to clear cookies automaticly, every time I want to play Bigfarm, before I can start playing, I first have to do following things:
First on the http (not https  :o ? ) login site, I have to type in my username and password  (If GGS not know the difference between http and https, and why they should use https to the login page instead http, I'll strongly recommend that GGS read some information about the difference between http and https, for example here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTPS  or here: http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-the-difference-between-http-and-https.htm

After have send my login data, the game start up, and now I have to change the zoom to that zoom I normally use, go into settings and switch of music and notifications before I can start playing the game.
Also other websites I use, will be more uncomfortable for me to use, if I setup my browser to automaticly clear cookies because they use cookies on the good way.

It's seems to me like you (and maybe also GGS and maybe also some other players) not yet have understand all aspects of this case, and why I fight so hard against the video ads (at least as they are currently are setup to work)

1'st of all it's of course it's a question about security!
And that's not so much my own security, because I know a lot how to protect my computer, and after what I have read here at the forum, also other players know someting about security and several of them also like me have taken extra precautions since (and because) the videos have been implemented in the game.
It have never before september been necesarry for me to use bloking for 3rd party cookies and data, use add-blocker, and anti-malware programs... now I use these things because of the videos!
No, when I fight so hard for the securuty, it's for those many players out there who know nothing about internet security and never visit the forum.   They are easy offers for hacking attacks, malware, spying at their internet activity and so on.

2'nd in it, is that I do not like this kind of false click-collecting by using click-bait.
What I mean is this: If eg. I want to buy a new tv, I of course search what the different TV manufacturers have to offer, and when I visit their sites, they by their log-files can see what models have my interest - in other words, they get usefull information about my visit on their site when I was a serious potential costumer.

But I'm quit sure GGS's 3rd party advertising partners are totaly don't care about the the videos are being seen by people who really have any interest in the video they see as a potential serius costumer to the product, ot they only open the video for get the click-bait (the reward).
I'm quit sure unrulymedia and other of these 3'rd party advertising agencies whatever they are named, using the collected data to make statistics that shows how many times per day their videos are being seen.

These statistics they can use to show their coustomers and say: Look so many times per day your video have been seen through our service, and/or to show to potential new customors to tell them: se so many times videos are been seen through our service per day, so it will be very good for yu company to use us as advertising agency.
    - It's just a shame these statistics are making by click-bait, so they dont tell anything about how many of the views are serius potential custmors to the products, and I don't think the advertising agency behind the click-bait-advertising telling their customers that the statistics mostly contains views to people who not have serious interest in the videos.

3'rd thing is about privacy and uninvited unwelcome intrusions on private ground.
My computer is my private possession!
So when the 3'rd party partners save (or trying to save) their files on my computer whiout I have open any of their videos, I see it as an uninvited unwelcome intrusions on private ground. (or a try to do it)
    - In my eys, that would be the same as if somebody breaking into my apartment and throw rubbish here and there, so I have to clean up after them.
    - And yes, of course I know these 3rd party cookies and data only are very small files... but I'm totaly don't care about we talking about 1 Kb files or 1 Gb files ot bigger... it's the principle of it I'm talking about.
  • Again, learning a lot about computers and the internet.  Unfortunately, I only wanted to have fun playing a game.

Me too. Thinking to find an other game.....
  • A lot of good and valid points Brian, unfortunately your expertise and points are wasted on here. As you know GGS nor any other site can guarantee that their 3rd party cookies are safe from "nasty bugs" . While cookies are at the lower end of malware etc they are an intrusion of our privacy, which is why site now warn us that they use cookies. I , probably like Brian, analyse  a lot of the cookies , files on my computer and a lot that "appear" after visiting Big Farm are not 100% trusted. If any malware gets onto a computer, the first words of defence about where it came from are, "its a 3rd party site that we have no control over"
Just a note to Adoptapet, ..Ccleaner ( and the rest) do not clear cache, cookies and rubbish from EVERY browser
