Aw man :( If you're having heavy performance issues, can you please tell me if you're still able to zoom? That's usually a good indicator for us to see what's up.
  • Tha background thing seems to have messed up the game environment a bit. When moving around the farm, the background now doesn't move correctly with fixed positions and tends to jump. Guess more load to game was introduced this way, making it yet a bit more laggy and slowish. I've seen this skin horizon feature in other games without these funny side effects and extra load, so I guess it's down to programming skills.

If it stays with this poor workmanship I'd suggest to scrap it too. :)

Once again, GGS, it's good to enhance the game, but you need the skills to do it properly. Otherwise you'll class yourself among the masters in killing your own business with ever increasing chaos of this game. Kick that "drive-management" freak out and hire a good cleaning team. :)

    This needs repeating.
  • I think that added guidance task telling you which task you should do is highly highly redundant. Really don't need the game's oppinion on which task should be done now. Might be usefull for first few levels, but not for those who know the game already. And even with the first few levels I highly doubt if's usefullness, as the tasks themselves provide enough guidance already.  :)

Here I recomend to scrap it. Near to totally useless feature imo.

I agree, bad bad bad change.... Please put my event tasks back at the top, I do not want those silly little repeating tasks above them!!! :/
  • Can somebody send a decent programmer to these people bcz every update ( and i mean EVERY update ) lately brings more problems than it solves...now i look forward to every new event and so on and dont tend to comment much on forum but i am SICK to the back of my teeth from all these glitches we are getting in game, it really is taking out any joy i felt playing it....Please GGS b4 you start working on something make sure you have actually people who know what they are doing  :s

I agree with you Ozzie......its becoming a headache to play the game now-a-days. They dont even resolve the previous problems and bug issues.

Some people in my co-op are noticing a great deal of lag when switching farms - it is taking much longer for them compared to before the update.  This isn't an issue for me, I assume it's because I have a fast computer, but it is a significant frustration for them and a waste of time.

I think most of us would rather have a game that runs smoothly and is relatively bug-free as opposed to new features that just seem to cause problems.  Speaking for myself, I don't care about making the background look different - it's far more important to have a game that isn't loaded with bugs and glitches.  A friend has started calling the game updates "bugdates" for obvious reasons.

@Latten: Earier we could Zoom In & out using the scroll wheel of mouse. Now thats not possible. Also earlier the things getting dropped from fields and stables were getting away when zoomed in or out through mouse scroll, now even that is also not possible.

Game loading from one farm to another farm takes huge time, even with broadband speed connection.

    Please look into the matter.

Just a thought but how will the new backgrounds work with things like hidden mushrooms , easter eggs ect
If you look at the background the way it is in the inventory, they seem to only be changing the far view. So that would not necessarily affect mushroom hunting, because the direct environment would stay in-tact. There have been little to none objects hidden in the far view in the past, only in the direct environment.
@ Larino:  Based on how the environment now jumps, disconnected from fixed object I assume all environment get's changed (everything around fixed object in all directions), not just far view.

Shouldn't be an issue, since only the upper part of the Farm will be replaced.
Seems like I was right after all, Kamilcom!

I agree - the event task is much more important to me than any repeating task. I don't believe that the task with the biggest potential XP reward (however that is calculated) is the most important one anyway, whatever level you're at. While I was growing my farm XP was very low on my list of priorities.

No and yes. It is an event like all events, which will pop up randomly. In the official announcements you can read you need gold for some of the backgrounds. Others are available for dollars.

Surely this is not to argue with you Larino as you indeed might be right. Just for the record: The whole deployment of background has been changed, farms surrounding now behaving  exactly as if it was supposed to be all skinned. CM answers have been proven misinformed and misinforming so many times that I don't take them seriously any more with new updates.

Having said the above, the best I can do is rest it, wait and see. :)

We're currently testing "Starling", a game engine, for Big Farm. While this should improve lots and lots of performance issues, it will not allow Mouse wheel zooming on Chrome :(

If you're affected, please try a different browser, or use the + and - keys on the numpad instead - they should work just fine :)

Does this apply to everyone, or is it only for a selected few? Only reason I ask is because I'm using Chrome and my mouse wheel does zoom in and out.

Don't worry, I am a runner, not a fighter. If I need to get into a discussion I try walking away first ; ) Which is pretty easy on the forums: *click bookmark off*

But you still may be right. I have also seen the entire screen has changed, not just the top part. Still things point me in the direction of only the top part, and it seems most logical to me.

I guess we'll indeed have to just wait and see!

And who is a fool enough to come out and say that he getting huge amount of gold just for free due to some bug issue.....we are talking about "Gold", no one will do that. Do you really expect such thing ?
       Yours truly, that's who.  :D   https://community.goodgamestudios.com/bigfarm/en/discussion/44035/update-september-1st-movie-time-questions-and-feedback/p14

  • Hopefully, the kite will be available to more than position number 1 in the ranking.  It reads like it might be only position 1, and that would be completely absurd.

Hopefully they removed the collectibles and certificates and left the more valuable prizes.
Why is this absurd.  It's a Hard Worker award and I feel the Hardest Worker deserves the best reward.  In the revised event the top 50 get a reward instead of the top 5, this is what I feel is the important change in this event.  I think GG has vastly improved this event and if I want the kite I will spend the time and gold to get it.

You will keep the default skyline, so you're not really required to buy any if you don't want. There will be one available for dollars. The others are available for gold. ;)

The scroll on my mouse for zoom in and zoom out also don't work since the update ... and I use chrome so I guess the answer for that issue explained earlier.

The + and - buttons on the number pad do not make it zoom in or out. But the zoom in and zoom out buttons from the options inside the game do work. However, the scroll button on the mouse does work for zooming in and out if I go into full screen mode ... but then I can't type anything in chat so maybe not the best solution lol

will it effect watering trees, my coop middle sized but if someone in coop with full 65? members and having to wait while the different back grounds load may put people off doing this job if they can only play a hour or so a day. Already have lag and it has not started yet :s

Latten, what performance is supposed to be better? At my end everything is rather slower, laggy, silly jumpy behaviour of graphics when moving farm around. Certainly nothing goes smoother, and certainly no improvement observed here.

  • We have members in my co op that are seeing the loading screen when switching between farms, including myself. this is disconcerting to some, as they thought they'd been disconnected at first. Is this part of the game engine test? If so, or not, I think the fact your testing a game engine should have been put in the update notice.

Same here. I'm also seeing the loading screen when I water my coop trees.

If anyone is currently having a problem with their scroll wheel not zooming while using Chrome as their browser, here is the reason why:

I have been watering trees and it comes up with the green farm loading screen for a couple seconds every farm I switch too for watering. These are still just regular backgrounds yet too. It already is having lag, adding time, so I'm not looking forward to the extra backgrounds right now. I thought it would be kind of cool to see a change, like if I could make it look like sunset versus daytime, but not at the cost of the lag. I'd rather have the game with no new backgrounds. It still played just fine that way! :/

I am also seeing the loading page "feeding the chickens" etc when moving between the farms. I also find it interesting that scrolling doesn't work on Chrome...I am using Chrome as the bug with Firefox still hasn't been fixed. I cannot even open my farm in Firefox and am awaiting a reply from support. However, I can use my mouse to scroll in and out in Chrome.

I have developed another problem though... I get an error message when feeding my greedy neighbours, meaning they now have to stand around and watch me for hours, whether I have their goods or not. I have attempted to include a screenshot, which I hope someone can see?

I have the same problem.  Very slow.  2-1/2 - 3 mins to load the farm completely when I log in.  Each time.  And yes, cache is cleared, cookies cleared, current version of everything.   This all started right after the update.

We have members in my co op that are seeing the loading screen when switching between farms, including myself. this is disconcerting to some, as they thought they'd been disconnected at first. ...

Also the same problem here.  Much longer to switch between my own 3 farms.

And again.  Loading screen when watering trees.  It's going to take a long, long time to water the trees tomorrow.  I'm afraid of how bad it will be when those new backgrounds become available.  There won't be any on my farm.  I don't see that part of the game when I'm normally playing, so why pay for something you don't see?

I haven't had most of those issues.

The new things that highlights a task on the left task bar, highlights the event task from the Hawaii event.  These rotating events would probably always be the most "valuable" of current tasks, so it sort of defeats the purpose (as I understood it) of the new feature.  I would not recommend that a single development minute be spent on it.  There are much more important problems in the game.
  • Screen froze, logged off/on...now there is a vertical line down screen.  Is this supposed to be here?

  • Since the upgrade, I can't use my mouse wheel to zoom in/out on the us1 farm.  :(   It's working fine on WWW1.  However, WWW1 is taking lots of time to switch between farms.

This is my farm (on us1) when switching between farms:

  • same here. whats up with all these new bugs on us1?
