horse farm questions

ArtmakerArtmaker Posts: 415
Ok, after ignoring it since it first rolled out all buggy, I finally started messing with the horse farm. Read a few neat pages about breeding which helped some. BUT.... I'm stuck.
I get one horse up to level 30, but can't get a mate past the teens.

And it seems I can't just upload an image here, don't feel like sticking it on my site. But if you click a horse, pick say endurance training, slide the bar staying in the green as far as you can, that window says 1989 horse shoes, then on the right 198 and in green +5
What does that +5 mean? Is that what the horse should go up in level? Cause it didn't go up a bit. Not even one point. And I've trained several times now.

Also to the right of the horse, in the endurance bar, in blue it says 207 more.
More what? More to go before it..... what?

WHY are there so many unexplained mysteries to this game? I have asked about this in the forums before and never got a reply. Maybe NO ONE really knows?

All I know is this isn't fun anymore. This dumb horse (and several on other farms are the same way.) Will NOT get past the teens.

Also... on my now level 30 horse, there is a red button by it's name says common.
Common what? What is the button for, how did I get it?

I just don't get it at all. IF I breed my level 30 horse with a teen something, BOTH of them vanish and I end up buying some horse I know nothing about. OR is it I get one offspring but have to buy another. Even in a barn with four spaces, it seems I'm forced to purchase strange horses I have no clue about breeding. Why can't I keep my breeding stock and work up from that?

As for "setting them free" this is the main reason I gave up on it in the first place.
That's just STUPID! What horse breeder just "sets his horses free?"
And now with trucks flying past the farm, wouldn't there be truck to horse collisions with all the free horses running around loose?

Should I even go into the confusion when competing? LIke why I win or lose when the numbers suggest the exact opposite should have happened?

Ok, a lot of that I already understood. But this part....
    copy;
Then you have room for your best horse waiting for another good horse to be breed with.

HOW do you have any idea what another good horse is? After I breed, I get one offspring, and I have to buy an unknown horse. And basically start over.

Also.... STILL no one is answering the questions as to the mysterious numbers on the screen. When you slide a bar over as far as you can while in the green, what does it mean "208 more..." more what? To do what?
And why isn't this explained ANYWHERE????? What is the green +5 when after training I get + nothing at all?

I'd like to burn down the barn at this point and collect the insurance. some aspects of the horse farm look like fun but there is more frustration than needed and so far no one has answers.

GG.... care to explain the thing? Like why can't I mouse over a number and have some text saying what it means? That would be nice.

You will need your stable at level 3 or better, I suggest level 4 or better. You are always going to need 2 stock(regular) horses to train up.

HOW do you have any idea what another good horse is? After I breed, I get one offspring, and I have to buy an unknown horse. And basically start over.
Check the parents of your newly bought horse. I have found that if you train 2 stock horses up to level 21 on each area then breed them you get a decent foal at level 21, a first generation horse. Repeat this again. Now you have 2 decent first generation foals at level 21. Breed them together to get an even better foal at level 21, this is now a second generation horse.

Also.... STILL no one is answering the questions as to the mysterious numbers on the screen. When you slide a bar over as far as you can while in the green, what does it mean "208 more..." more what? To do what?
Training points to get your horse up levels.

What is the green +5 when after training I get + nothing at all?
Your training area is at level 5 means you get 5 more training points per training.

    • You have 3 big yellow stars, with numbers in them, those are your horses level for each of the 3 disciplines.
    • Each star has a bar next to it, which shows how many training points are needed to reach the next level ("50 more" for example).
    • You have a slider, this shows how many horseshoes you will spend on the training session (on the left) and how many training points you will earn for the session (on the right)
    • You also get bonus points depending on the level of your arena written in green ( level 5 arena will have +5) so if you are training for "Endurance" & use 200 horseshoes, you get 20 training points +5 bonus points & the bar next to your Endurance star will move along another 25 points.
    • Your horses level is an average of the numbers in the 3 yellow stars.

Ok, this is slowly starting to make a little sense. Except for the fact I've been training the same teen numbered horses and get NOTHING after training. Not even going up one point.

My barns are all lvl 3 except for one farm I got it up to level 4. But have not paid the 10 horse shoes to buy horses. I keep thinking my breeding will result in a foal that will replace one of the ones up for sale but that doesn't seem to be the case at all.

Ok, had some time, from another farm one horse just finished training and did not go up one bit.

GRRRRR I CANNOT GET A DAMN IMAGE TO UPLOAD HERE!!!!!! Keep getting "invalid URL." NO IT IS NOT.
Tried directly from computer, that won't work either.

So here. NOT invalid. Copy and past and see the image that way. (Stupid forum board.)

    One after training with questions
    http://artmakersworlds.com/testing/BigFarm/HorseTraining2.jpg

At least I could make those links clickable. As you can see NOT invalid.

See how the 16 in the yellow star in the second image is more than 15 in the yellow star of the first image? That is an increase of +1 in that ability (here its endurance).

When a 0 level horse is trained to 15 (heck 14) in all its abilities (yours is beyond that) Its a good idea to breed it with another level 15 (14, whatever) horse in order to make training easier. Training costs will only increase more from this point on. Yes that means training a new horse up. Its a pyramid. When you breed two 15's/14's, you train it up to close to 30 (not always 30, but there abouts), you can breed it with your level 30 horse.

Note: Its a pyramid. In order to make a suitable mate for your best horse... you have to do exactly as much work as you did previously.

Tip: When the blue bar says 0 more that is all you need. If you click over one more and it says 300+ more to the next level, click back to "0 more" and stop training that ability on that horse.

Yup, what Yakoska says. The higher level a horse gets, the harder it gets to train it. So you need an OMGincredible amount of horseshoes to get it up a level again.
When you breed your horses, the kid will be easier to train again for at least 11 levels.

I buy 2 green horses in the stable. I call them green when they start out at 0. I train those up to lvl 12. I breed them. The new horse is easy to train up to lvl 23.
I buy another 2 green horses, train them to 12 and breed. Their offspring I also train up to lvl 23.

I then have 2 lvl 23 horses, who I breed. Their kid is easy to train up to lvl 34.

And then you start all over again with 2 green horses......

My problem is no matter what I try, I can't ever get TWO level 30 horses. Only one. Breed that with a teen and it goes poof gone. All I can do is buy an unknown horse which has parents level 0 and I start all over.

This is very frustrating. Spinning my wheels here. WHY the designers decided the parents just vaporize is beyond all logic to me. Would anyone in their right mind "set Secretariet free" after breeding it once?
    Come on.

Gwendolen it sounds like I need no less than four free slots in the barn then to save two fouls correct?
A barn with three simply won't work will it.

I'm beginning to think my first idea was the best. Ignore the whole stupid thing.

Ok, I do have 4 slots in my barn. So I just bread my lvl 30 horse with the stupid teen that did not advance one point all night. Gave me a level 22 and three zeros I would have to buy.

So do I need to buy all three and train them all? And wouldn't it be easier if my level 30 and level 14 produced a 22, then could do it again. So I'd have TWO horses at level 22. THEN set the two parents free and breed the two level 22 horses.

    Wouldn't that make more sense?

So tell me, how does this dumb thing work game wise. Buy all of them and train till the end of time?

2 horses to level 10 and then breed them, level that horse to level 20. While leveling up 2 more horses to level 10 and breed them. Level that horse to level 20. Now you have 2 horses level 20 breed them. Level that horse to level 35. repeat process with new horses until you get another level 35, Breed 2 level 35. breed that 35 to level 50 while repeating process to get 2 level 50 and so on.

The levels I given you will give the breeding effects. Effects increase at 10, 20, 35, 50, 70, and 90. Upgrade stable and training areas as soon as possible.

    Hope this helps,

You are much better off if you breed horses who are close to the same level. The level of the foal is the average level of the 2 parents. Train your level 22 until it is no longer productive. It should be about 10 levels. You can either buy a horse around level 22 (from the horse market) and train that up to then breed it with your original level 22. Or buy 2 new level 0's and begin the process of training and breeding until you have a horse to breed with your now level 22. I hope that makes sense. :-)

Its a pyramid: - means train up to. + means breed. Numbers are estimated levels.

    0-14 Stop
    0-14 Stop

    14+14 = 14 - 26 ish stop.

    0-14 stop
    0-14 stop

    14+14 = 14- 26ish stop

    26+26= 26 - 38ish stop

Repeat earlier steps until you have another 38 ish.

    38+ 38 = 38 - 50 ish. Stop

Repeat all earlier steps until you have another 50 ish. etc.

Now, lets say you breed your 30 with a 14 and get a 22 that you train up to about 34. Now what? You've gained about 4 levels, but it took you one less horse trained to 14, bred, and that foal trained up. Regardless, you have to do it again, and again, and again.

Until you get to 100... because that's the cap. THEN things get interesting. What's the best way to improve then? Also, even with a maxed stable, you have less room. Of course, too, you can start buying from the Market once you have a significant horse. That saves a LOT of training.

Ok, I think it's starting to make sense. I also upgraded two of my farm stables so all of them will be level 4.

Winning a lot of competitions at least. So that's good. I guess.
