It is a great game. I have been playing it for almost 2 yrs. You have to think & plan when you get far enough along to do the islands. It has changed a whole lot from when I started playing. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Best of Luck with your farming.

Don't get in a hurry, plan things out and watch that you don't over spend. Don't use gold to unlock flower or gourmet farm early. Stay on top of adding things as you unlock them, don't look at the big farms and think they have 6 fields and 4 apples or 10 cows and try to match that, you will get behind in the game. Once your ship is unlocked it will start asking for items that your lvl allows you to provide it, so if you delay growing or adding something you won't be able to fill the orders. Get in a coop that has members willing to answer questions and help you advance your farm, learn from their mistakes. DON'T be tempted to start the islands until you are over lvl 50 maybe even higher, once you do your farm improvements and leveling up with slow to a crawl. Do it too early and you will be very frustrated.
