Missions criticism

PennyS (GB1)PennyS (GB1) GB1 Posts: 46
I have just received a message from a (quite understandably) peeved level 42 player pointing out that there is no polnt in doing a mission when matched against me, a level 120 player.
Would it not be possible for players on missions to, in some way, be categorised so that opponents are of roughly the same level?

Level at times is irrelevant because many missions come down to who is or isnt willing to use gold. I recently came up against a low level player in a field mission, she had 5 fields and I had 14.........her total was double mine at the end of the mission. The mission matchup system is a mess anyway. After contacting a few players in and out of my coop and setting up to search at the same time ALL of us still ended up doing solo missions......whats that about??

Sounds like a good idea, would make it take longer to get a mission with other players, and after a 5 minute wait you'd be in a mission all by yourself.

The point isn't to win the mission, the point is to do as best you can and take the reputation points you get from it. Winning is just for friendly competition.

I have to agree with Graycat on this one. My self am not a gold user for missions but I do play them at least once a day and more during the Coop mission challenge. No I do not win very many and rarely finish in the top 3 spots. But I still play so I can upgrade my tractors and activate them on a regular bases So yes there is a point to doing missions no matter who you end up playing against.

There is another problem with missions, in addition to unequal matching, and this is the low points you get when in a solo mission. In a solo mission you only get 25% of the points (approximately) that you would get if you won against an opponent for harvesting the exact same amount. This is very unfair since the same amount of effort should reap the same amount of reward. It is also used as a very unsporting technique to reduce the points of rival co-ops during the challenge. One co-op in particular engages in this petty and mean spirited approach to playing missions by encouraging members to only harvest in missions they can win thereby reducing the points won by their opponent and when there are only two players in a mission leaving the winner with only 25% of the points they would have achieved if their opponent had played the mission. Please, please, please, reward players for the effort they make and stop penalising them for the bad luck of not getting an opponent or getting aan unsporting opponent.

Completely agree with Emma. Solos would not be a problem if rewards were not so poor!!!!!!

From where do you know somebody use that strategy?
    - have anybody told you he/she use that strategy, or have you been in coops where you was told to use it?

If it's only a suspicion you have, I can say I don't think anybody will play at that way.
And if anybody use that strategy, I'll say it's a stupid strategy to use, because everybody who playing active in a mission, get more rp the more products all players in the mission harvest together - or in other words: players who use that strategy kicking both themselves and their coop in their butt!

I was in a co-op, probably the one Emma is referring to, and NOT my current co-op, where exactly this strategy was discussed and advocated by the co-op leader and deputies in co-op challenges. We were all encouraged to only harvest in missions with certain co-ops when we were certain we could win with the explicit intention of ensuring the lowest possible points for the rival co-op.

Nice to have confirmation, we were sure it was a strategy anyway, too many of them not harvesting in missions against us, but now we know it was co-op policy. Very unsporting imo.

I believe that's what's known as cutting off your nose to spite your face. :D

As Brian said, the more active players are during a mission, the more points EVERYONE gets, not just the winner.

I also know this to be fact because i was sent proof as a message and guess what , i screen saved it.

It was not just from one of their players say so, it was a copy of their chat of leader and several deputies running down our co-op plus others, using vile comments.:(
All which I saved on file ( all of them)
