But: the silo on the gourmet farm is far cheaper than the silo on yr main farm. That's why I purchased it immediately when getting my gourmet farm, and for a very long time it was mostly the only working silo (I used the silo on the main farm only once per approx. 10 days then).
As said before: nowadays I run both silos to keep up with everything; but back then my gourmet silo ran 24/7 and had always enough dung/fertilizer. When I had run my main silo 24/7 during those days, I would have run out of dung very quickly.
Note FYI: with the composters it is the other way round! I don't have a composter on GF because I don't need one there.
Besides that there's two main benefits of the silo on GF (as I see it):
1. It's needed for the cooperative projects that ask you to start production on fertilizer.
2. You get plenty of collection items from the silo, items that can be very hard to come by otherwise: Gardening Gloves. Those are needed to start some cooperative projects.
Oh I have a third reason!
Water drops!
Having said that, I don`t have a silo or composter on my GF, for all those benefits I need the space more. A lot depends on the set up of yoru farms....How much dung you are producing & how much fertilizer you need. In my case I have a dung mountain & my main farm silo works 24/7, but it already produces more fertilizer than I can use or store, so if I had a silo on my GF, sure it would use up some of the dung, but I would have to just keep selling the fertilizer to even start it & it doesn`t sell for enough to make that cost effective.
I also have a leaf mountain & my MF composter runs 24/7 too. I did think that the Humus Pro would convert enough humus into premium (which has no storage limit) that it would be worth rebuilding my GF composter, but so far that hasn`t happened, the one on my MF still keeps the humus storage maxed out.
plus you get more exp running both silos, than upgrading water tower and running only 1, so its no harm.
How many is lots & lots & lots? I have 21 on MF & GF, but I do have WT on both farms, which I agree makes a difference.
well this is not exact info, as it differs based on how many hours one person spends online per day(how they plan their main farm silo) and also how many total orchard harvest they do per day, but in general I think 18 orchards total(main+gourmet with 2:1 rate for number of apple/cherry, almond/peach orchards), is the limit for main farm silo + water tower (lvl 1 on both farms)
so for more than 18 orchards probably one needs to either upgrade one/or both towers to lvl 2 at least, or run gourmet silo together with main silo too.
well this is very rare cases as not many ppl usually even make more than 18-20 orchards anyway thats why i say "lots and lots and lots and lots..." instead
aside from that btw, even if main farm silo can cover all the orchards still as long as one has extra dung, and not much care about little waste of dollar/in exchange for extra exp, then its good to still have both silos.
(personally for example i have always too much extra dung from stables even with 18 orchards, and normally mf silo is enough for my orchards, but i just run gourmet silo for extra exp too sometimes+ for side tasks it helps too, for example when it says start 16 fertilizer and you have your main silo running, then can just put 16 batch in gourmet silo and get some extra instant exp from side-task)
Interesting data, thanks ^^
I have lvl5 & lvl4 WT since the very start, so I have never really had any issues with fertilizer or feed, other than too much of both lol so its nice to know what life would be like without them. If I did ever put the silo & composter back on my GF it would purely be for the XP, but I much prefer using the space for production instead. Still good for people to know the options though, so they can make an informed choice about whether to have them or not.
that is indeed very true, with lvl 4 and lvl 5 water towers, main farm silo alone, is certainty more than enough. for composter its a different story though, since water towers doesnt really change anything regarding them, so I do suggest to put back composter on your gourmet farm for extra humus+exp too. specially since you have 21 orchards, im certain that even mf architect composter alone can't be enough to get rid of all leaves.
P.S. and in case you may wonder that "but whats the point of having even more humus if i already have enough for all that I need", then the answer is:
wildflower library booster + 14 times(28mins) planting normal wildflower seed in your fields(not special seed) + wasting lots of extra humus = scary high harvest in wfs mission in co-op challenge.(even for corn its useful too, but since corn mission rp is a bummer, let's just say for wfs it works magically)
ex. lets say for 1 lvl 7 field, with max wfs booster, 21+55 = 76
76 + humus = 114
114 wfs from 1 field in 2 mins. multiplied by 14 (times plant) = 1596 wfs
now lets say you have 6 fields =
9576 wfs from 6 fields in 30mins.(+ if you have special seeds ready at start too, then you can probably reach about 15k wfs approx)
that is a scary amount imo
this will cost you like 84 humus per wfs mission though but since you seem like the type of player who have already beyond excess humus, then this strategy may be just meant for you.
Very true, I have enough leaves to create a small island lol But I also have maximim storage of 4200 humus most of the time. Its a shame the machine can`t convert more to premium, cos I pretty much use premium all the time & I have tons of that too, but at that doesn`t have a storage limit. At least I will be ok if a hurricane blows all my trees down. ^^
