tournament challenge

Hi,
what factors except horse level are important to win a horse competition and how?
for example how is it possible that my horse with level 43 looses its competition to a horse with level 25?

it's all just a chance game. % chance of winning and losing, despite anything. :)

I suppose it is all down to what factors GGS have programmed into the game. Logic would say that better and more skills would help to win, i have a horse with +9 speed so it should be a good runner ! My horse has lost to a horse almost half its level, but also won against a horse 23 levels higher than it. I think the line of thinking is that a horse that has been bred from 5-6 -7 breeding's will be a better horse than one at the same level that has been trained from level 0. I am a bit fed up with the ranch, i have got within 24 points of the Platinum level. After 3 days racing etc I am still 24 points from Platinum. Only a few hours left and only need 6 wins, for every win i get , i lose 2 challenges, i think the horse lost 23 races in a row, lost 8, lost 8, lost 7, won 1.
    Only 16 points needed now....

It shows you the % chance of each horse winning & unless they were 100% & 0%, then there is always a chance for either horse to win, even a really small chance is still a chance.

Oh please my horse looses more than it wins. It has nothing to do with breeding effects or breeding qualities. Just another way to get people to play the islands for horseshoes and spend gold. Bikeboy is right there is no logic to the horse competitions. When you build up a good horse with great effects and qualities and it keeps loosing then there really is no point to the breeding effects and qualities. Thus no reason to bother with the horses.

I disagree with you, La Vonda.
I've spent a lot of time on my horse ranch, I love it. I've also placed in the Diamond league in both tournament seasons.. And I wouldn't call it just being lucky..

i sincerely congratulate you for your achievements with your horse(s). And mean no disrespect when I say this bu I see no reason for working hard to train horses when it appears that the racing and placing has nothing to do with the training and strategy. Can you give some insight into how you got where you are with your horse ranch. I have only two horses at the moment. One 16 and one 14. The second one I purchased. I see it takes less time to go up in levels. And I understand that breeding horses can give them quicker speed for training. But it is the competitions that I can't figure out. Yes you get prizes and such but if there is no real advantage of the training and stats then I don't see why that info is necessary to be displayed when choosing horses to compete against. We never see the stats of competition, only breeding level. I would like to succeed in the competitions but have no idea where to begin. Nothing makes sense with the competing. Again I ask - can you give some insight into how training is an advantage in the competitions? what wisdom can you give some of the rest of us who just aren't getting it yet? Thank you for anything you wish to tell us.

    lelkilroy:
    I'll say it short:
As far I know, all horses in diamond league are minimum level 90 horses (most of them are level 100)

Each horse according to its training stats is given a percentage in chance in winning when paired up against you. If your stats are higher, you have, ore of a chance in winning, if you're about the same level, your opponent and you has about the same chance in winning.

It's based mostly on luck and odds, I've had a level 7 beat me when I was 20, and I have also won a match up against a level 30 something with the same horse.

Essentially, you'll want to pick a horse that has less breeding value than yours, this increases your chance in winning. Avoid those that are higher than you whenever possible.

The thread "Horse attributes levels are calculated incorrectly" contains an excellent discussion of exactly how training points are used to determine your chances in competition. :¬)

thanks to all of you for replies. I do know that higher stats give better chance at winning. I guess I was thinking there was something else besides that and luck. I do try to choose competition where their stats are about the same or lower. What kills my chances (to me anyway) is all those that challenge me. I try to keep horse training most of the time unless I am competing but somehow I seem to lose lots of challenges while my horse is training. i Figured if I can't compete when against others when training, then they could not compete against me. I will keep trying - but feel a bit better, albeit a bit less enthusiastic about the competition now. Uncle John - thanks for the thread title. I will look at it.
