Suggestion: Finding new recruits for the coop
I've invited hundreds of people in the past week to join our coop, by actively seeking out players with the icon that indicates that person is looking to join a coop. I've sent personal messages in tandem and have not gotten a response or anyone to accept the invite. I understand that maybe they don't want to join my coop, maybe want to be in something more prestigious, but ok, I'm inviting fairly low level players too. We're ranked 73 and that's a great achievement, I think.
If you aren't in a coop and want to be in one, please select this icon to be displayed next to your name in the rankings list. People are looking for you and will invite you to join their coop!
But I'm feeling like new people don't know this feature exists. The official announcement on this icon was at least a year or more ago, no? Can there be another announcement to remind people to use this?
Comments
Just give up, it's no use. :P
Seriously though, I've sent thousands of messages to hundreds of players. I admit I have some template messages, but most are personnel messages with a serious invite. It's just the nature of the business. There are so many factors at play, people may not respond for a wide range of reasons.
- most beginners do not use the forum during the first weeks/months (many don't ever), so they don't read the Official Announcements or other posts
- most beginners think they need to join the highest ranked coops (that's why these grow so fast, and all other coops are struggling to get any recruits)
- many beginners believe it to be best to start their own coop (which only increases the aforementioned problem hugely, (there are already far to much coops) and is imo not a very clever thought, because one would learn all ins and outs of the game faster when joining a coop first).
But the idea of abandoning the coop? That isn't a solution to me. I'm looking for a more constructive answer than that. More so, I'm asking Big Farm to inform new people that there is this icon, during in game play or on the Racing Farmer window, and to encourage new people to join coops. Not so much for the coop challenge event but I don't know. Make some other, less insanely competitive reason to be in a coop (other than the research project benefits that they don't know about yet).
Sorry, quitting my Green Giants coop isn't an option. Being part of a coop for 2 years, building a rapport with people and working towards our goals is more important to me than quitting to be part of a top 10 coop. That could've happened when they introduced the coop challenge event but I stayed put. I never founded the coop, rather the leadership was handed over to me because of my commitment to my team.
Somehow I would think that GGS should make it far more clearer to beginners how important it is to read the forum and GGS should let beginners know that joining a coop is far more wiser than starting one yourself at this stage of the game (as there are too many coops already).
Then there is of course the difference in players' mentality: I am not a great fan of insanely competitiveness and in our coop we rather like to build up our farms slowly but stable, play the events, have fun together and talk things over about the game-strategy .... than throwing a lot of gold in the game, race up to the highest rankings and then as a consequence be bored to *****.
I posted the above in thread a few days ago When sending messages to people it would be nice to know if messages are read or binned. On en server I know of 3 player advertised as looking for coops but think these players are no longer active, position not moved GGS could check game activity and clear out non active players more often
I love the idea of feedback from Big Farm too. Just let us know if the invitation was denied even.
Or even better, let's hope that this game will make searching for new members more simple. Let us have the option of searching through a list of people looking for coops only, not the entire rankings list. If someone clicks to have that icon active, then they are in the list. If not, then they aren't in the list.
Good luck to you all with your searches.
