Malik-the base level is not super expensive and will not go away after less than a week! I am working on thinking of something special to make for dessert so I can ask Jeff for the credit card. I am not going to push too hard--we had a lot of dr bill this past month. Even the free gold from the game--i can save it up in a few weeks and get enough to buy one that way.

I never used the workers when they were around, cause in honest for me they were a waste of the few gold I allow myself to buy each month. And I can say the same regarding to this update. Not going to spend gold to get a production boost.
That being said I dont have any animosity towards this update, cause its a choise each player have to make. Spend gold and get a slight boost or not. For those who play to "win" its probably a must have, but my approach is to develope my farm and maximize it by seeing how much I can fit into each type of farm.
I do have a suggestion though:
I will use the apples as an example. In addition to gold there should be another way to get books. Instead of gold it will cost both apples and dollars. Lets say for example that increase from level 1 to 2 is 6 times the amount from 0 to 1 in gold, then GGS could do a 12 times increase in apples and dollars. Allways double the factor compared to gold:
level 0-1 in gold is 500
level 1-2 in gold is 3000 thats a factor 6 increase
    level 0-1 in dollars 500k, apples 30k
    level 1-2 in dollars 6mill, apples 360k thats a factor 12 increase
I bet this will not lessen the gold using on this feature because of the redicoulus amount it would require on later books, but by doing this most non-gold users wouldnt feel left out and in honest would have something to strive for.
Just my 2 cents of thoughts

it makes playing the game no more fun. the whole idea is just spend gold and u can be up at level 50 in 3 4 days

goodgame studios wants to lose its regular farmers.

THIS IS A USELESS UPDATE AND IS AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME OF WORKING HARD

    REMOVE IT

Believe it or not, for players who like the idea of spending gold and leveling up fast, it is not useless at all. And for those who have no use for it...guess what? Useless it may be but it doesn't interfere with game play in the least, easy to disregard, doesn't cause any harm...yeah, I fail to see how this feature, which is clearly a matter of personal choice is going to lose regular farmers and more so I wonder just how it "is against the spirit of the game of working hard". It is not a wide gap between developing a little virtual farm at a normal rate and developing a little virtual farm at a speedy rate with the use of gold. Both are happening on a computer screen with a mouse at hand. Only difference is one get's done quicker then the other. If you have no use for it, forget it!

Do you really understand the essence of the meaning... The game should be fair, honest... We should use more of our intelligence in it...

It's a shame that this ideology isn't applied to everyday real life. Seems like it would be a more beneficial thing to argue for instead of picking on a little virtual game.... Intelligence is knowing that life isn't fair.

Personally, I'm very thankful for all that we have and while a lot of you aren't happy about this, you still have the option of not purchasing the books if you don't wish - it's not going to stunt your game at all.

I disagree with you on that point, Kat Nip. It will stunt the missioning again, the same as the Blue Barns of Death stunt them: Sell missions are stunted by people with Blue barns... now these books will stunt Collect missions in a similar fashion.

I guess it's too late now but it would have been nice if we had at least be able to buy the first level or two with game money and THEN the higher levels would cost gold. That way those players who can't afford to spend lots of real money on the game could have at least gotten a little something out of the library.

Not a fan of the library - useless to me.

GGS BF Devs: Please invest your efforts in something useful like an aux build window.

    Thanks.

That's not the issue, Short. It makes missions between golders and non-golders even more unbalanced. Yes, I'm a golder... Yes, I've bought about 7K gold worth of books, because I'm only human after all and don't want to get left in the dust.

Wauw.... why are people so tense ?
Talking about fair and unfair... is this game a competition? Is it a race? Do you have to get from A too B as soon as possible?

    ... no. I don't think so.

People who buy gold are the reason that other people can keep playing this game.
I played another game before this, but it was shut down because there was not enough money to keep it running. :-( Now THAT's frustrating!!

If people want to be in the top 10 with loads of money....be my guest. As long as I can do the best I can without spending money.

The delovepers are doing a great job, there are lot's of events so everybody can have a good time.
And all because some player are willing to spend money on this game.

So before you write a message that you think they have to cancel these kinds of updates...think about the possibility that you can never play again because they are shutting down....

    Thnx!

Thank you, Kat! But as usual, I believe the applause should be in your favor as you have again managed to oppose the subject in the well-mannered, patient but thorough way you always do, minus the sharp edge of annoyance so painfully obvious in my reply. It is just that this greed accusation aggravates me so much since often times, it sounds more like a player's excuse as to why they can't get the nice stuff. You know, like "I want boosters too but they cost gold and I don't buy gold. GGS is soooo greedy". Anyhow, I have always admired your tact, but I guess if your going to be a mod tact is something you will have to have in high supply. LOL! Now off subject for a moment, because you asked and I simply have to answer! I LOVE Monty and his Wheel of Fortune! And since GGS and I finally connected money and deal I treated myself to 20 tokens! I love spinning that wheel. You win! Every time! Even the puny prizes are cool because STILL, you're not going away empty handed! I got the scarecrow last time and got my fingers crossed for the hammock this time. Back to the subject at hand, Don't bother with the library if it doesn't suit you! But don't gripe about it just because it costs gold! Anyway, speaking of spinning, I'm out! Thanks again for the praise, Kat! You are awesome!

So disappointed. There are children playing this game. I hate how much emphasis is placed on using gold. We all know it is hard to come by and many of us are not willing to spend real money to play. My daughter was so excited about the library only to find out it requires gold to participate. We are both at the point of not playing anymore.

I think the library idea is a good idea, however it is flawed at the moment. There is no way I'm using gold to get a few more things out of my field. Why can it not be like the dog house somehow. That way all get to use it to a point and if we want to use it further then we have to use gold and buy more production? I really hope the idea is improved. Otherwise I enjoy playing the game.

    The Library seems too obtrusive.

People are starting to quit game already.

My red dots are increasing and I may be one soon.

I HOPE THE LIBRARY FAILS BAD. The Dog is also stupid. So is roulette wheel and mine.

Fact is that money is needed to develope the game, i have never whined about buying gold.
But library... now i have feeling that money will be collected also to other issues not just developing this game.

I will never use gold for Books.

I was looking forward to the library addition but I agree the library may be a bust. I don't use gold, I can't use gold, don't have it. I think if you like the idea of the library use the library. I think that maybe the first/second level should have been available to everyone for money. Then you if choose to upgraded make it available only with gold. I'm not sure that getting the additional benefit of more corn, wheat, etc. for whether Co-op or individual missions will be worth the library. I belong to a Co-op that has a couple of members that use gold and will probably use the library so I'll check back with them on the library to see if it's useful. I'll hold off on my judgement of the library for now, but I'm watching.

There's plenty of "freemium" games that have crashed and burned because they placed too much emphasis on buying items on the game to stay competitive.

The balance has been skewed when level 1 fields can outproduce level 7 fields based on a player spending real money. There are missions and tasks that require production and are competitive against other players.
There are plenty of other ways to make money w/o killing your target audience.
The game developers have offered a choice "spend lots of real cash here or buy a game and own it."
I suggest some do research on how many games built on similar marketing concepts have crashed and burned because they chose to cater to greed rather than players.
I'd rather donate cash directly to the game developers than pander to these type of updates that isolate/remove players.

Ever consider asking for real donations to support development?
How about building email accounts for game players and selling advertising on that email?

    Just a thought.

I do understand that the programmers have to profit, and I do buy gold regularly, but, I do have to agree with the comments...The library does indeed take the fun out of the game...I play this game many hours a day, but to give and advantage to gold buyers instead to industrious farmers takes the meaning and fun out of the game..
    HUGE MISTAKE WITH THE LIBRARY!

    Cheers..

I think the library should be removed. I consider it greedy, and at the same time rather insulting.

Oljah2, at least you are thinking creatively!!! Why not have "public library" that is shared by everyone in the co-op. Oh, and why not let us occasionally find a book during regular farm play? Why couldn't the books give us surprise collectibles. I can think of a million things that would be more interesting!

At this point, however, it should be removed. I don't want to see it on my farm page.

    Co-op library would be better.
I could get behind that idea.

Just multiply the gold costs by 10 and make it payable from the co-op account.
    I would pay for that.

HMMM Not really interested in investing in 'co-op books'--there is already price upgrades avail just for the co-ops.
I do like the idea of being able to invest in something that costs a small amount of gold that will directly benefit ME for a change.

    What a wonderful library !!!
    It gives you extra knowledge.
To get a real education (In North America, NOT EUROPE) you have to pay.
If you do not need education, YOU DO NOT PAY.
    IT IS A CHOICE.
You do not have to pay all amount right away. WAIT, COLLECT, PAY.

My point was really that they should be more creative. To have a library perched on the corner of your farm doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Books that could be shared by a team, is just an idea. I don't think they should cost more, though.

The core of the issue is that the last few updates have all been extremely gold focused. Although I have happily spent gold, both on myself and on my co-op I am starting to feel a little like a chump. There are other games out there.

okay, i'm not outragiously offended buy the library, and to the player who said they didn't read about it because they wanted to be suprised, i didn't either and didn't know it was gold only or to replace the staff. and 3 more corn is just stupid in my opinion, but the thing that is irritating me the most is all the links to the library! Geebus! it's sitting right next to every single farm and yet we need the book icon in the list across the bottom?!?!? moving the coop icon under the chatbox? i HATE IT! if we need 70 ways to get us to the great big building right next to the farm that is ONLY for gold buyers then really most of us shouldn't have access to real money. TAKE THE ICON AWAY!!

Connerk-i have invested a ton of farmdollars into several co-ops that barely even say a word except when time to do more research so that they can earn a few more dollars to sell a few pigs. I leave one for the next thinking 'this one has said they are different', but it is not. The way the co-ops are set up is not for my style of play and I don't think i want to be in one with a bunch of people that don't even bother to say 'g morning'. I would LOVE to have my Millions of farmdollars returned.

So if I spend MY gold on a book, I want it to be reserved for MY use. They are not very expensive and you can buy your own.
