Has anyone managed to breed an uncommon horse?

I've tried everything. Breeding lvl50 (common) with lvl 40 (also common), lvl 55 (common) with lvl 30, lvl 50 with lvl 20 and I just keep getting breeding quality 1 horses.Common as muck!

I've tried changing the combination on top and bottom tabs, and yes it sometimes does change breeding outcomes but I've never had a hint of a breeding upgrade from 1 to 2. The sidebar hint 'the breeding value comes from averaging your horse's training levels' is a non sequitur What do they mean by averaging training levels? The task's suggestion that I pair my nag with 'Arabian and thoroughbred horses' doesn't help a bit.

Is there a training threshold level that might drag my nags up a level - is it only possible to get a lvl2 nag if they have a breeding value of, say, 70 or whatever?

    Hey tracey40,

it sounds like you've had bad luck while breeding so far. :S

Since there is always only a chance to increase the breeding quality, breeding with level 50 horses is not guaranteed to bring you such a quality upgrade, but it's more likely to happen than with level 20 horses (yet, some people get lucky and get an uncommon horse right away).

What this help text is trying to tell you becomes a little more clear if you put it into context:

"Your horse needs to have a high breeding value for the breeding quality level to increase during breeding. This breeding value comes from averaging your horse`s training levels."

Or rephrased: The chance to increase the breeding quality of your foal can be increased by achieving higher breeding values (levels) of your horses, which in turn can be achieved by increasing their attribute levels (since the average of all three attribute levels is used to determine the breeding value of each horse).

So.. you're already on the right way with what you are doing. The only thing missing right now is that tiny bit of luck. Keep trying, it will happen!

    Regards,
    Steffi

PS: love your uncommon horse, Runswivscissors

Thanks for that Nafaru. So to be clear: there's no point in attempting to devise a strategy - it's all down to luck?

Down to luck, that means down to the idea's of GGS, they expect us to train horses up to the high levels and it still only be GGS luck that we get a better horse. That is totally wrong and you can bet this "luck" depends on how much of a gold user you are. To be honest the final comment by NaFaru is more than taking the wee wee, "keep trying" how do we keep trying when we have used up all the horse shoes getting our unlucky horses to a breeding stage, only to end up without a better horse.
and for those that know me, here it is, HHmmmmmmm

So what is the chance when breeding two BV10 horses together? Is it significantly lower than BV20+? Because it might be a lot quicker and cheaper to train a bunch of BV10s until you get that +BQ proc.

No one knows the percentages. Just like no one knew the percentage chance of finding tracks for the last event until there was enough data. I am pretty sure though, the chance will be the same for everyone. :)

For the moment, just make sure the "Chance of a breeding quality increase" is listed on the new foal before you breed, if that's your goal. Also try and breed to the 10, 20, 35, 50, etc marks for improved breeding effects. It may be too basic to be called a strategy, but I think its the way to go.

  • I have an exceptional breeding effect 4. Is there any higher then this? Just wondering so I know to keep trying to get higher or not.
