You were given runestones for what snow dollars were still in your account when the Viking farm disappeared. Nothing is given back when the island ends, just a few runestones compensation for what was left (which is better than nothing).
Ciao,
Jan
I beg your pardon? Our site has all the newest sheets etc about the Viking Farm. It even gives the hint that it seems to be a copy of the Tropical Island farm! Go check the spreadsheets page again - it has been there for an entire month.
I am sorry the whole event guide has not been updated yet, but next time, the spreadsheets page is more important than any other FAQ item on our website
Thanks for the link, Elunia!
As has been mentioned (now almost everywhere) in the forums: the ISLAND EVENT is a temporary event, like the theme events! As the theme events take 6 days, the Island event takes 30 days. While the Island event was running there was a timer running at the airport (which gave you the remaining hours) and at the Island Icon tab in your left hand task bar (which gave you the remaining days)...
The island event may come in different forms; up until now we had 2: Tropical Island and Viking Farm.
You have got 30 days to build it up to gather as much shells/runestones as you can and after these 30 days everything will vanish again. You will also get shells/runestones for left over products and the remaining Island/Snow Dollars in the island bank.
There are many, many threads about it you could have read to be informed! I give you the links to 4 discussion threads:

Happy farming! ^^
Only you can decide if you can afford decorations & still have enough runestones to get whatever seeds you want. When the trader leaves in a few hours, you won`t be able to buy anymore seeds until he comes back, so best to stock up on enough seeds to keep the ship supplied with berries. Everyone has their own strategy, its not really a case of the right or wrong thing to do.
The seeds stay and you need them to be able to supply the ship and get enough horseshoes. If you like the horse stable, definitely invest in the seeds. If you do not bother about the horse stable, you may as well buy decorations. Do keep in mind that the decorations take up a lot of space and may not be any better than the regular decorations you can buy. To calculate the happiness per square, count the total amount of squares the decoration will occupy and divide the happiness by that number. The higher the number, the better the decoration.
Hurry up though, the rune trader will leave soon! He will be back, but that may take a month or two.
Some of the missing ones for you Loony ^^
Berry Orchard (Level 4) = 10,500
Seal Pond (Level 4) = 10,500
Algae Tank (Level 4) = 7,500
I might be confused, but are you saying that Big Farm intended it to be herrings for this Winter Wonderland version, but instead it is sardines?
If yes, then I can see why the first page of this thread is not corrected. If no, then can that 2nd task in Chapter 1 be updated to say sardines please?
They just messed it up. Apparently they got the name of sardines to the herring picture and vice versa. Task 2 wants you to make 6000 sardines, which makes sense because on the Tropical island you need to make peanuts, both take 1 hour and 10 mins to produce so they are each other's equals. And sardines and peanuts are fed to penguins and peacocks while herring and grapes are fed to seals and lemurs. It has been solved last time it ran already. Does this thread still say herrings? The spreadsheet on the website is correct as far as I know, so you may consider checking that out instead
How about decorations? Upgraded fence and gate? Your viking farm, just like your tropical farm also have a happiness bar and need decorations to keep everybody happy. I think you have high costs because of that. Or did you build exactly the same amount of houses and decorations on both farms? Because I swear it has always been expensive to start either bar or viking workshop once too many times
The decoration in #13 was there for me. You can see it there on mine. At least for awhile. The trouble is, it looks like the surrounding forest. I recall last Viking Island that people accidentally demo'd it, thinking it was still undergrowth.

May be a stupid question, but are there no side-tasks in chapter 3?
They show on this spreadsheet
Have you made sure you've moved the slider fully to the right? See, the slider stays at the max amount of the previous upgrade until you move it.
And maybe you shouldn't post the same question in all kinds of threads? Have some patience and someone will answer you..
The plots have been numbered on the picture grid posted earlier in this thread. You can compare the grid to your own farm and the plot located on the same spot as on the picture has the number on the picture.
You demolish the undergrowth and the decoration will be there after it has finished demolishing. You can see the difference by checking what is on the option ring when you click on it. Undergrowth has only the option of demolishing and speed up the demolish process. A decoration can also be moved, stored and rotated. So as long as there is no move, store or rotate option it is safe to demolish the undergrowth.
The reason you are paid in Runes is because the main purpose of the farm is for you to colllect runes. It would be even more frustrating if you paid in dollars & got dollars back, you would never get any runes. 8|
They never were there on the Viking farm, there is a bug report here for it.
Raise your tankards !
