Yup... and I happen to like the wine ! :)

    Loving the graphics.

For those who feel excluded by the cost, I experimented with an economy Island Farm which coast a total of $12m so perhaps the same can be done with the Nordic Farm.

Clever GGS appears to have properly hidden the hidden decos (the outlines used to be shown on really slow connections) -

    Hey Daytona:
I'm very interested in your "economy farm." I'm lvl 69 & never did the tropical island so would love to get any tips on how to do this on the cheap. I'm more interested in getting the decos than collecting seeds.

did you finish all 3 chapts? how many plots did you buy?

please give us some of your secrets.
    thank you!!

If I have enough snowdollars in cash I buy more pieces of land at once, which increases the demolish price.

Thanks - I had only noticed that the demolish TIME increases...

Do we need to wait to sell Viking Gear at a special time? I want to have dollars to buy seeds but don't want to sell items before they are needed for another step in the project. Can anyone let me know if tunics are needed for later?

With the knowledge I have about the island farm and the viking farm so far there is no task that asks you to sell gear. You may need it for gaining a certain amount of runes in several tasks, but on the island farm peacocks did the trick, which are similar to penguins on the viking farm.

Thanks so much, Yakoska! The spreadsheet has been completed. I took a guess on the last side task by copying it from the island farm :) In case anybody needs a reminder, the sheet is here:

When it's over in 20 some days Will all our hardwork be saved until next time? I would hate to use my IGC then have to start all over when it comes back around.

This is my first Island adventure. I can't seem to find the answer in other threads.

At the end of the event, you can choose to demolish everything yourself for runestones or continue production until the last minute & let the system demolish it for you (for 50% of the demolition value). All the Island farms are temporary, so far we have seen 2 , but we have been told there are more to come, so each time one arrives you will always be starting it from scratch.

xRedeyex- I have listed parts of the Official Announcement about the length of the island farm. Any and all island themed events will be for 30 days unless GGS specifies any different. The official announcements

"The temporary island farm will be active for 30 days. During this time, you can finish different tasks to help our new, yet unknown character to achieve their goal of building a farm on the island. After 30 days have passed, the farm will be reset and you will get some rewards - depending on your progress of course - which you can use on your regular farms, as well as additional possibilities to earn new seeds for the greenhouse."

Chapter 2 Task 2 is COLLECT tankards. Only pointing it out because produce at times means begin production to get it to count and collect allows you to start the production early and having it waiting to harvest.

Yes, I was coming in to make the same clarification. I waited to start production, but found it wanted me to collect them, not begin production.

Hey 1sttimer and a happy new year, sorry I've just found your post - I guess Christmas got in the way !

I create a spreadsheet to work out the profitability of the various crops and this is what I've learnt from a non gold users perspective -

The level 1 workshop produces goods which sell for less than the components. The lowest cost option - the viking tunic - is the only exception, making a small profit, but dwarfed by the profit you can make from the sheep pasture.

Doing the event tasks will greatly reduce the amount of runes you end up with once the event is finished, and hence, the amount of ship produce and horseshoes you can get from the ship. For this reason, I don't do them, unless I'm just playing for fun.

The herring-seal-sheep pasture production cycle is the best value for money way of getting runes.

The land area available can support a maximum of 2 sheep pastures plus facilities running full time, though the cost of the second pasture and associated facilities is, I guess, about $50m compared to $12m for the first. This is due to the almost exponential rise in the cost of land. (Exponential costs are a feature of the game and make it equally challenging for low and high level players.)

For best value for money, aim for -
    2 fish ponds
    2 seals
    1xL1 mill
    1xL1 silo
    1xL4 sheep pasture
the leaves you get don't warrant having the composter until perhaps the last few days, when you can process all the leaves that have mounted up. Demolish a fish pond to get the staff to run it.

When supplying the ship, the maximum option gives much better value for money than the other options. As much as a 1,000 horseshoe bonus.

Oh, and the best way to get money to play, is to produce honey cream on the flower farm. It'll cost about $90m to set up, then you'll make about $1.5m profit every day.

    Hope this helps !

    Daytona --
Thank you so much for all the info! I've copied it down & will study it & plan for the next VF.

I was just so happy to hear that I didn't need $100 mil to get thru it. I've made a few mistakes so have already gone over your 12 mi budget, but I think I can stay under $20mil & still finish Chapt 2 with time left over. I will definitely look into the sheep. I demo'd the algae tank yesterday to give the workers something to do. I wasn't sure if I was foolish not to keep upgrading, but I like your list. minimal works for me right now.

thank you again for sharing all this. your analysis really helps. I started making honey cream last month which is why I felt I could finlly try the island event--when people say it's a money maker, they ain't kidding!

    Happy New Year!
