The "thing" you are referring to in your screenshot looks like a rock to me, just some stones lying there together. The "thing or small face" that puzzles me most is to be found in the screenshot of Volty (Attachment 16223): left of the little troll, there is a dark brown face with piercing yellow eyes (??? ?() Or is this just a normal owl sitting on the ground instead of high up in a tree (where owls belong)?

I think that is just another troll, just dark skinned. He is probably on holliday.

I have completely ignored the Viking farm. I have better things to do with my building time right now, and that's on all three servers.

I and several in my co-ops have also said they are enjoying the Viking farm too!! I think once you've already had the shock of the island farm and those costs, then you know what to expect with the Viking farm and can plan accordingly right from the start. It makes it far more enjoyable!

Several of us prefer the Viking/winter theme, the tasks, and the decorations FAR more than we did the island farm!! Really enjoying it! I can't seem to get snow here in real life (at least that stays for any length of time), I can at least have it on my game! ;)

    I too say thanks, GGS!

You see what they've done though - we were collecting too many shells and had spent enough gold on the library for the island farm, so now they decided to change currency and of course create another library branch to spend more gold on to get it to the equivalent of what we've spent for the first island.

Look out for more islands soon with there own separate currency again and of course new library branches.

    Money money money...

having the island followed with the viking farm straight away....why....they said having a 4th farm was to much for players thats why they decided after almost a year of 4th farm coming soon not to having it after all....isnt these temp island 30 day farms the same as a 4th farm but costs us waaaaaay more cash that we have to redo every time.
i would much rather have a permanent 4th farm that i can work on please, all these different currencies and you need to do this, this and this before you can do this, is much to much a pain in the ^%$#@ ...and im about to give up on islands/ horses/ greenhouse stuff...just go back to my main 3 permanent farms....

Of course there will be more! I fully expect and will enjoy playing those too!

Nobody is forcing you to spend "money money money". Just play without the library books, etc. I haven't bought a single one. I spend 250 gold every time I play a temp farm and get one gold house. That is it.

Not sure I follow the theory of we spent so much on library books/boosters that they had to build another farm. I think they had it planned for quite awhile actually. I just hope the next ones are not identical tasks with different names... More variations are necessary if they do a third farm. :S

There will be more farms eventually, and not all of them will be the exact same thing - even while the Winter and Island farms are indeed very similar.

This is still a new feature and we all have to see where it leads us :)

I'm wondering why the destruction value of items on the Viking Farm are all zero? Even on the island farm there was value when anything had to be destroyed to make room for something else

I have become an avid horse breeder - but the switch to viking berries has seriously dented my supply of horseshoes. Before I spend runes for anything but berry seeds I need some idea of how long before I can switch back to island fruits, where I have tons of seed made useless by started the viking farm. Latten - help? Captain Barnacle says he misses my days of max fruiting...

I likely shouldn't have started the viking farm, although it has broken my attachment to the game. I am almost out of horseshoes now since I can't sell the island seeds anymore, so I won't be training my 2nd horse much. I was getting about 4000+ horseshoes for a load, and now I get about 300 at most. Just don't get enough runestones to buy so many seeds. I also rarely upgrade things on my 3 other farms while playing the island, or the viking farm, and now there was no time at all between these things.

It has sent me back to a game I used to play a lot, until it was removed from the site I played it on. It suddenly seems worth starting over there. Have barely been on Big Farm in the last few days.

The Island farm also said 0 on everything, but you do get the shells/runestones.

Hey Scissors - there actually were values on the island farm items. I wrote all of them down to see if it was better to destroy some items before the game ended, or whether the seeds we got for playing island was better. The Oasis of Idleness was worth 24000 seeds when destroyed. I had 2 of them, so would have gotten more from destroying than what I was returned in seeds when the island ended

    Shells I mean, not seeds

aye scissors is spot on there with the Island Farm, at first the destruction rates all showed zero, then they "fixed" it. Every time i read about GGS fixing things i always think about Jim in the Royal Family and his great quotes, " fixed it my ..... "
    Merry Christmas farmers

At first they were all 0 like now, here are some of the values collected at that time, you can probably work out the Viking ones from them, if you don`t still have your list - Everything else about the 2 farms seems to be the same, so chances are they are too.

Aye scissors, it looks like they did some different graphics and then did a "find and replace" on the Island stuff, I know because that is what I did on the spreadsheets hahaha so changing the wording over probably took a long time, ooooh maybe 5 minutes work.... ok 6 minutes with a coffee break

Hmmm, to be or not to be:

    CONST:
    - The island farm just ended leaving us with an empty accout with no time to fill it and no money for viking (no doubt it will be as least as expensive as tropical farm.)
    - We are full of seeds and fruits, but we will not be able to trade them for at least a month, as they will be swaped for another kind of fruit we do not have.
    - The new horsefarm demands more and more horseshoes (now we are able to train more horses at once) and we burned them
by stupid decision to train our horse before the full update. So two drawbacks: first is a leson to be more carefull with the new updates and not rush in and second is: we need horseshoes and a way to get them is with TROPICAL fruits (we have plenty now).
    - Holliday time means less time for computer and more time with familly (at least I hope so), so less timeto play a time limited event.
    - GGS is on hollidays, so no fixing of severe bugs if they apear. (one post is stating (vicking farm in questions about the game) that they are STILL working on economics.)

    PRO:
    - pengins, seals, nice pictures with winter scenario
    - curiosity

Oh why, oh why do I have to be a woman with Pandora's curse. This Vicking farm is so similar to her box.

Viking Land was fun at first but i am stuck on Task 3 just what Animals do you need to make Winter fertilizer and this is getting costly and no time to complete this game really i think it removed and what happens to the farm after time or day is up 17 left.

Edit by PINJO: removed inappropriate word

I think the Viking farm is turning out to be a rip off. Is it THAT crucial to my big farm if I just pretend it isnt there?

Just like on your main farm, you need a Silo to convert dung into Fertilizer. Any animal dung will do. Penguins makes more dung per minute than seals. Hope that helps.

I always thought that guy was the bank manager and monkey in the treehouse was the clerk as otherwise there was no workers in the bank or anywhere for them to live in.

It would have been nice if they'd jiggled with some things and given different combinations instead of a clone of the first island farm.

    THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

My regular farms are suffering big time because I don't have the time or money to be able to do vital upgrades and land expansions. Every time I get close to having the 16million that I need to expand my flower farm the island comes back and sucks me dry again!

As many people have said, it is a money sucker, DO NOT DO the viking farm until you can afford to, this means that most of your contruction and upgrades on your other 3 farms should be completed. I know i seem like i may have a grudge, but until you do as i am suggesting, your farm will not get very far, I am level 113 now and all i rallly do is workj on my main 3 farms with no attempt to do any extras such as temp farms and events. Either take my advice or not, hopefully you will do what works for you

KBahr, I understand that's the right choice for you.... but each person is entitled to their own choices for their own farms. If you treat Big Farm like a race, then yes, working on your main, permanent farms is definitely the most efficient use of time. But many people don't play Big Farm as a race. They like to take time to enjoy different things. For those people, dabbling in the Island, even though it might 'slow down' the growth of their main farms, is different and enjoyable.
