No way to get them back...just buy new ones :)
But I really think that is better to train one horse till it will be level 40, it will take long..but after that you will be able to buy horses from Horse market.. and those horses are cheaper and faster to train.
but it it just my opinion

I'm with you Yakoska; I too get attached and hate to lose the horse, but now I don't name them and it's been easier.  I've only tried breed 2x, upgraded my stables to lvl4 and the training areas to lvl6; and have kept them that way for some time.  My goldy horse has 2 attributes (strength and agility); haven't seen what the benefit is, but horse is low common...whatever that means. One horse is heart30 and the other is heart15; not sure if should breed as only training is available until the next season tournament. I like fishing better as I understand that aspect more, but will experiment with horses to see what happens...who knows might even get an improved horse which would be a total fluke as it is more often for me... :)  What I've read in forum is: experiment, experiment and who knows something good might come of it...ggg.

Best not to get attached to your horse.  I had one of the grey spotted ones and of course once breed it ........gone.  Hoping that maybe I will luck out and get another one at some point.

Thank you for to those who replied.  I liked the horse though :-)
Next horse, you can name after your old horse.  That's what I do! :)

So, I had a horse A and I bought a horse B, then I bred them. As result I got a horse C, then I bought D. Now, I expected to have 4 horses, but I have 2 only. A and B are both gone from my stable ( I never set them free). A and B only appear on the family tree for C. What happened with A and B? I especially worry about A which is my best trained horse.

you got horse C in place of horse A and B as you breeded them

Thank you :) I thought breeding horses would increase their number... I was wrong...
  • @BlueLight (US1)As you breed the horses on ranch you loose the parents each time. Best to breed two to same level as you move upward.
  • I had two horses that were above level 20, I bred them together and they disappeared.  I received the newly breed horse and now had to buy another one that starts out at level 0.  Where do the bred horses go?  Why do I lose them?

That's what happens with Breeding; the original 2 horses are deleted, and are replaced with the new "Foal".

    https://bigfarmtips.wordpress.com/2015/03/21/horsebreeding-101/

Once we have our two horses ready on level 13, we will breed them. Go to the breeding menu of your stable and select both your horses as the parents. Breed and you will have a brand new foal! Take into account that you will lose both parents with this, but the foal will be much better. There will be one horse left. That horse is level 13 and has a breeding effect. When you go into training again, it will gain a lot of levels like the horse on the green check-mark picture above did.

Bear in mind that to get a level 80 horse you will need to buy 128 Goldies (lvl 0). If the parents stayed, it would be a major problem.  :¬)

little tip: don't buy goldies from stable menu, but from that horse market. as the time will go, you will have impossible number of gold horseshoes(after you'll upgrade training grounds and will not be spending them there anymore :D ). if it's normal horse(no special abilities, you cen getthem at very reasonable prices- lvl 36 for 104 000). it will save you normal horseshoes you'd spend to train them there.
    EDIT 20-06-18
a screenshot of my horse market for illustration... and yes, main reason why i thought about doing it this way is that i was drowning in golden horseshoes too after upgrading everything on max (even stable on unnecessary level 9)

I'm not sure this would be wise as it takes a ton of those golden horseshoes to upgrade the stable to be able to fit the number of horses required to be able to breed them up to a decent competitive level for the horse tournaments. With a good breeding set up one can easily breed up a horse per day.
I start with 2 regular "Goldies"/horses from the stable. Cost 20 Golden horseshoes. Train both twice in all training areas with a full training session of 1980 regular horseshoes. Total cost for both horses 11,880 regular horseshoes and 8 hours. By now your 2 horses are level 14 in all areas & ready to breed together for your first foal/colt which will be a first generation with 1 enhancement, parents depending. Keep track of the parents to find the types of enhancements you want for your best horse.
Repeat start set up. Get 2 more horses and do what you just did with your first 2. Again only 2 full training sessions per training area for both horses. Total cost for the 4 horses 23,760 regular horseshoes and 16 hours. Once done, breed those 2 and now you have your second foal/colt which is a first generation horse as well.
Now take those 2 first generation horses and train them in all training areas with 2 full training sessions each. then breed them for your first 2nd generation horse. Now you will need another 2nd generation horse to breed with this newest foal/colt. Repeat the above set up until you have another 2nd generation horse to breed with the other 2nd generation horse.

I'm with Borgia on this one. As pointed out, after a bit, you'll be swimming in golden horseshoes. Starting out with Goldies is all well and good in the beginning, but after that, not a good deal. Going against popular opinion, I don't keep track of the parents.  It may just be coincidence, but I often find the better horse deals during tournaments, although sometimes I might have to wait a day or more until they show up at the market.

I think I'm with Borgia too. I've been buying in horses around lvl 50 for over a year and currently have 30,000,000 golden horseshoes !!  My arenas are lvl 10 but my Stables is only lvl 7. This is because buying in saves the need for 4 generations of breeding and thus saves 4 stalls.  (My top horse is 127)

I have bred My horses 4 times and My same Horse I ended up with has stayed at Level 24 this whole time, I have put it in training and everything, My stables is Leveled up a few times as well and nothing happens, so I decided to train another horse to get to lvl 24, in hopes that it will bring her up more this time around, but I got to say this breeding thing is horrible, I hate that I have to lose horses that I worked hard on only to go poof, it is lame in My book.

Horses breed at 50% of the sum of their level.

So if you breed a level 24 with another level 24 horse, you'll get a level 24 foal.

    If you breed a Level 36 and a level 24 horse, you'll get a Level 30 foal. ((36+24)/2).

Problem is she was Bred for Level 24 and has not gone up in level at all, so that is why I was trying to train another horse in hopes of helping her level up, but from what your saying she should of been leveling up, but she is not leveling up no matter what I do, so I am so done with this lousy Breeding in this game, I am just going to keep the horses I got and use those for what ever reason, but thanks for the info just the same, much appreciated, Happy Farming to ya, :)
P.S. I can not level up horses if they refuse to level up, I have done the training and the racing part in hopes that she would level up, but no luck, so I am done with it, thanks anyway.

Training is what levels up a horse. (not racing or breeding)
Click on an arena, choose a horse and then slide the slider right to spend 1000 or 2000 shoes. You will see the gauge move.

I could of sworn I said that I did the Training as well, sorry if you did not see that part.

If you train your horse you should be able to see your horse levelling up, as @Uncle John (GB1) says. By moving the gauge it will show how much your horse will improve.
This is where being in a coop and donating to the boat in the village really helps, you will have plenty of special seeds for the conservatory and thus a lot of horse shoes by giving them to the boat on the flower farm.
It can be done with ordinary seeds of course, but it will be a lot slower.
Hang in there, your horses will level up if you keep at it. :)

No, I did read that bit, but training does work, therefor I was trying to suggest that you perhaps you hadn't done enough. 20 shoes makes only a small, imperceptible difference, if you were using thousands you would see the level change. If you do as I suggested you will see the gauge move. The horse's level is the average of those 3 gauges, so if you use all 3 arenas and move each gauge up 1 notch, your horse will level up 1 level. Honest  :¬)

the (ONLY) reason to breed horses is that as they progress, it gets more and more expensive to train them(2000 horseshoes doesn' get you through 10 levels as in the begining, but barely half a level). after the breeding, the horseshoe price for training is low(ish) again.
NEVER train over 2000 horseshoes in one go(only if you'd be missing couple of points). when the horse is in INTENSIVE training, it gives you only one point per 20 horseshoes(normal training gives 2 points).... seems not too big difference, but it is half of horseshoes that you could use more effectively.
  • Thank you all for the help, this has proved very usef
  • This game has some messed up scenarios... If I breed 2 good horses, I darn sure don't want them to just disappear..

but they weren't "good" horses, you had trained them to the point where they were too expensive to train any further.   :¬D

I agree with all the comments above. Its VERY disappointing. We should at least be able to SEE the horses we
have cared for for so long. But just having them disappear without an explanation is silly, not to mention confusing. If we could still have them in the stable, but not be able to breed them, we could still work with them and use them in the races, even if they are a bit slower than their colt.
