  • WOW! Graycat!  Be a little more BLUNT next time!!   :p
  • @Delta78 (US1) You need gold horseshoes to upgrade your stables & arenas, regular horseshoes are for training. You get gold shoes for doing challenges, you can challenge the NPCs (George, Lester & Tessa) when there is no racing season running & you can wait for the next season to start (this weekend), to challenge other players.

@Cranky Old Cow (US1)  Love your name lol :)  When you train your horses, it gets to a point where training becomes very slow and uses a lot of horseshoes, that is when you should breed your horses, the 2 that could not be trained anymore disappear & are replaced by a new horse, the same level, but with added breeding effects (hopefully) and it will be MUCH faster to train.  You can probably add around 10-15 more levels to the new one before that one will need to bred too, to get another new one. :)

Don`t worry about the parents disappearing, they served their purpose & there was nothing more you can do with them apart from take up valuable space in your stables.

Rather than having passed away negative thinking.I go with the more positive that they are retired from racing and breeding and living the high life.

I keep feeding my dog on something!

I'm sorry for your laryngitis @amandaps (INT1)  but I have no idea what straits GGS are being forced to by my lack of gold purchases.   :¬D

  • How do I rename my farms?

How do I rename my farms?
You go into the "settings" top right of your game screen then the forth option down "Rename your Farm" but be careful as it does cost Gold to change your farm names.
    P.S.
You can not name your horse ranch yet ;)
  • :) Thank you for the info - much appreciated - still a bit of a newbie!
  • there should be some kind of warning BEFORE breeding...like 'your horses will be gone after breeding, do you wish to continue?'.  i guess the game makers don't realize how much that first horse means too people. either that or they don't care, which is sad. cause my first horse had a special name, now its gone. so sadly, i won't be working on the new horse much. what's the point if it is just gonna get taken away.

I found my solution by just renaming a new horse with the old name.  As you progress, you'll realize it's just a numbers game, like everything else.  Breeding is essential to progress.  But, I do feel your pain.

@kranah (US1) The horse you get from breeding the 2, the foal/colt will be a better easier horse to train up.

  • the faster, better colt is not the issue...the issue is they took my first horse!! period!!!!  if i had known they were going to send it to the glue factory after breeding, i NEVER would of bred it!!!   hence i wont be breeding anymore horses because of it.  its like them saying 'mine for 4000 gold' yet they dont tell you they are going to steal 2000 of your gold to make up the 4000 they say you will get from mining....2000 your gold +2000 of their gold...which means they are only giving you 2000 gold.  thats a story for another day though lol

It sounds like you could use some information on the game ;)
Here is a great beginners site https://bigfarmtips.wordpress.com/
Here is another one that is kept up to date http://crazybigfarm.tk/
  • I have bred horses 2 times now and both times I lost my horse and came away with a horse that I had to train up all over again. Why?
  • Why do my horses that I have trained disappear when I breed them. This has happened 2 times now. I won't be breeding any more horses that I have spent time training.

When you breed two horses, they do disappear and a new horse is in their place.  The new horse trains faster.  Breeding your horses is how you level up.

The horse you got from breeding should be of a value of the 2 horses you breed together. If the 2 were level 14 then the new horse will already be a 14 as well. But it will take a lot less horseshoes to train it up into the 20's.

What happened to the old horses, which I used for breeding. Do they just disappear. I can't find them anywhere. So I get a new horse but the old ones are gone. That can't be so! My brain don't get it. Do you have experience?
  • yes, that is how it is meant to work.

Question: Just wanted to buy a new horse for just horseshoes, but it's asking me to rename right away, and the popup looks different with 2k gold? How can i buy it without paying 2k gold...? so far naming a newly bought horse was for free.

Are you buying it in the shop? Yep - the text is bit confuzzling, Michiru... But just ignore that. Name your horse and it's yours (naming it for the first time is free, as always).

Good luck with new horsie!  :)
  • what happens to the parent horses after breeding.. ??
  • aaabbb1 (INT1)aaabbb1 (INT1) INT1 Posts: 1,049
They dissapear (let say, that they are set free as a thank you gift for serving you so far.)
But if you train them correctrly, this is acctually a good thing as they are useless anyway.
  • I lost 2 horses after breeding them.  How do I get them back?
  • Spurgiukas (INT1)Spurgiukas (INT1) INT1 Posts: 235
I think this is how it works. From breeding 2 horses you get one.
  • @Izzy Belly (INT1)

Your two horses are not lost, as such.  That is how the breeding process works on Big Farm ... you train two horses and then eventually breed them, they disappear and gets replaced by a new horse who has benefited from the training you had given to the parents by being of a higher level/ability or has new traits.

You can then purchase a new horse in the stable (or from the horse market, if you have it unlocked) and start the training process again until these horses are ready to breed too.  The same thing happens always, the parent disappears and leaves the off-spring behind.
  • There is no way to get them back? That doesn't seem fair.
  • Thank you for to those who replied.  I liked the horse though :-)
