    ohoh!! disappearing horses...disappering farms

i think we should get to keep the first horse at least...

What to do concerning breeding horses:8)
    1. get hose{s} trained to level 10 {in endurance, strength & agility}
    2. get 500 horseshoes by selling items to ship
    3. upgrade stable to level 2 to get 2 horses {to breed}
    4.BREED
--when you breed you lose your original horse+it is expensive to use all the horse shoes
I am going to just keep training my horse instead of breeding
    It is ultimately your choice

What is it that only one horse is going missing now? I keep hearing this from people. Lucky you!!! I lost both my parent horses...

People who lost 'One' probably left the name of their second horse "Goldy". Thus, when the two parents left, and they got a new horse named Goldy (with likely similar stats) they thought they lost one.

Was your second horse, by chance named Goldy? If so, I am here to tell you (as I've told everyone else) that you have retired BOTH horses, and now have a new Foal named Goldy (You can change the name once for free) who will train faster than its parents.

i am not sure about yr efficency comment. Isnt it just that ás a design concept the breeding completely sucks, pure and simple?

Example - i had two horses at level 10 and bred them. I thought getting them to level 10 first was being efficient. But no.
Out of all that faffing around all I get 1 only horse at level 10 or maybe it was 11 with its extra feature, tops. I've now got another horse at lovely ole level 0 - I think I bought that while I was figuring out what was going on, but don't recall.
Before breeding and purchase: 2 horses at level 10.
After breeding and purchase: 1 at 10/11 and 1 at ruddy zero!
If that is the design, the design sucks. End of.

If you had tried to train the level 10 baby, you would find that it trains MUCH faster than its parents, plus it had the extra feature that you mentioned. The idea being that you train it more & breed it again at a higher level, to get another baby that breeds faster, to get that one higher & so on. Unfortunately by breeding a lvl 10 with a lvl 0 the baby is going to only be a level 5 (half way between the 2 parents) so you have gone backwards slightly there, but not to worry, you will soon catch up again if you take advantage of the increased training speed each time you breed one.

Not sure where to post this, but what does the yellow experience(earned from training horses) do for the player? I can't seem to see what it benefits....

The same thing happened to me and I am as P'd O as you are!

I didn't even want to breed my horse, all I wanted was to upgrade my stable and find out about breeding later at my leisure. I thought I'd have to buy a second horse before I could breed them and at level 1 I couldn't. It looked interesting so I leveled up. If I'd known I'd immediately lose my first horse I would not have leveled up at all. This is a serious flaw in the game that needs fixing pronto with warnings at least. But the instant I leveled up my beloved horse Champion was gone and I was left with two wimpy horses both called Goldy. I got no prior warning and I won't be upgrading my stable again!

I don't understand the value of horses anyway in the context of this game.

I didn't use my horse for breeding. All I did was upgrade my stable and it was gone!

If you absolutely didn't breed your horse, but just upgraded the stables, I think a ticket to support is in order. Because that shouldn't happen and is absolutely not nice!

Perhaps I should send a ticket - but I didn't even know this wasn't just the standard progression of the game. Now I know I shall contact GGS.

Definitely!! Upgrading your stables shouldn't make you lose your horse. You indeed need 2 horses for breeding, so if you upgraded it from 1 to 2, you could not have bred by mistake.

I had 2 horses and received a task telling me to breed them. When they reached the value of 11 and 10, I did breed them and I got 2 new horses named goldy, one with the value of 10 and the other with the value of 0. Where did my horses go? What happened to them? X(

Carla, GGS do say that when you breed the nags, you lose the parents, so your level 10 "goldy" is the foal, and the zero value is a new horse ready for you to buy.

However, a question for GGS with regards the "chance of a new breeding quality" how many "pairings" do we have to do to get our " luck of the draw" new breeding quality. I have just done the 13th breeding that had the " chance of new breeding quality" and still have not got another common horse. So that is 26 horses trained/leveled up and still no common as muck breeding quality. At this rate we will need to train/level a million horses/foals to get to the "super horse" breeding level.

I had a similar problem, getting quality 2, I was 0-11 on chances. I never had any problems getting common though. There seems to be a kind of a choice you have to make when breeding. If you breed efficiently for effects... that is, at levels 10, 20, 35, etc. without going over, your chances for a breeding quality jump are less than say if you breed inefficiently for effects, say 19, 34, etc. I don't know your situation, but I was being very 'efficient' on effects, and getting no quality jumps. When I stopped doing that, I got my quality 2.

Aha ! Yakoska, you could be right, If I remember right ! my 2 common horses did come from level 30+ nags. Maybe its a GGS bug, or if I refresh or clear my cache I might get a common horse !

If you breed your horses, both the parents dissapear, that has been explained multiple times, especially in the intro post.

I had the same problem. I didn't even breed anything - I just upgraded my stable thinking to breed later. And suddenly I had two horses called Goldy, and no they didn't have the training of my previous horses, they were both 0-0-0! My warning is - don't bother to upgrade your stable - I certainly won't be trying it again.

Mich- this was announced in the official announcement that you would loose a horse once you breed it. There is a thread already started somewhere about this, but at the moment I have looked for it, sorry. But I am posting a partial of the official announcement as well as the thread to the announcement so that you can read it. The announcement reads:

"A new tab in the stable menu allows you to access the breeding menu.
You can mate 2 horses in order to get a new foal. The parents will leave after this process, in order to make way for the new generation."

    Here is the thread link:
    http://en.board.goodgamestudios.com/bigfarm/showthread.php?127726-Update-December-11th-Horse-breeding-and-other-surprises

I am sure that a MOD will stop by and move this post to the thread that is already started, so if you come back to look for it, it will likely be moved to the correct place.
