i think we should get to keep the first horse at least...
1. get hose{s} trained to level 10 {in endurance, strength & agility}
2. get 500 horseshoes by selling items to ship
3. upgrade stable to level 2 to get 2 horses {to breed}
4.BREED
--when you breed you lose your original horse+it is expensive to use all the horse shoes
I am going to just keep training my horse instead of breeding
It is ultimately your choice

Example - i had two horses at level 10 and bred them. I thought getting them to level 10 first was being efficient. But no.
Out of all that faffing around all I get 1 only horse at level 10 or maybe it was 11 with its extra feature, tops. I've now got another horse at lovely ole level 0 - I think I bought that while I was figuring out what was going on, but don't recall.
Before breeding and purchase: 2 horses at level 10.
After breeding and purchase: 1 at 10/11 and 1 at ruddy zero!
If that is the design, the design sucks. End of.
If you had tried to train the level 10 baby, you would find that it trains MUCH faster than its parents, plus it had the extra feature that you mentioned. The idea being that you train it more & breed it again at a higher level, to get another baby that breeds faster, to get that one higher & so on. Unfortunately by breeding a lvl 10 with a lvl 0 the baby is going to only be a level 5 (half way between the 2 parents) so you have gone backwards slightly there, but not to worry, you will soon catch up again if you take advantage of the increased training speed each time you breed one. :thumbup:
We don`t know yet what Training points do or where they are stored/shown... Its a mystery hehe :huh:
EDIT: There is now more info here on Post #604

The same thing happened to me and I am as P'd O as you are!
I didn't even want to breed my horse, all I wanted was to upgrade my stable and find out about breeding later at my leisure. I thought I'd have to buy a second horse before I could breed them and at level 1 I couldn't. It looked interesting so I leveled up. If I'd known I'd immediately lose my first horse I would not have leveled up at all. This is a serious flaw in the game that needs fixing pronto with warnings at least. But the instant I leveled up my beloved horse Champion was gone and I was left with two wimpy horses both called Goldy. I got no prior warning and I won't be upgrading my stable again!
I don't understand the value of horses anyway in the context of this game.
Not GoodGame's finest hour!!
Carla, GGS do say that when you breed the nags, you lose the parents, so your level 10 "goldy" is the foal, and the zero value is a new horse ready for you to buy.
However, a question for GGS with regards the "chance of a new breeding quality" how many "pairings" do we have to do to get our " luck of the draw" new breeding quality. I have just done the 13th breeding that had the " chance of new breeding quality" and still have not got another common horse. So that is 26 horses trained/leveled up and still no common as muck breeding quality. At this rate we will need to train/level a million horses/foals to get to the "super horse" breeding level.

"A new tab in the stable menu allows you to access the breeding menu.
You can mate 2 horses in order to get a new foal. The parents will leave after this process, in order to make way for the new generation."

I am sure that a MOD will stop by and move this post to the thread that is already started, so if you come back to look for it, it will likely be moved to the correct place.
