Hey Steffi,
Thanks for explaining.
If I understand this correctly,
Any new horse you buy starts with stats 0/0/0.
Any horse you breed will inherit some (players choice(?)) talents from its parents and starts with higher stats.
What will be the difference in stats between a fully trained new horse and a fully trained thoroughbred horse?
Or, if none, what other benefits are there to create a 'perfect' bloodline?
Greetsz,Trippel.
This might turn out to be a very engaging update. Years ago i played a game where you had to keep track of genetics in order to breed and produce special fish...it was a long process but it was fun. Not sure how the horse ranch process will end up working out but it might be fun. I certainly welcome more challenging aspects of game play that goes beyond mindless clicking...as long as their is a meaningful purpose and it is presented in a way that is not confusing- unlike the way the ranch we have now was presented. Guess we shall see soon enough.^^
Hey Trippel,
that's right, you can choose some of the foal's talents.
The difference between a bought horse that was just trained to a high level and a thoroughbred of the same breeding value (level) will lie in breeding effects, breeding quality and decreased amounts of training points needed for attribute level-ups.
I'll call the thoroughbred "horse A" and the other horse "horse B" from now on to make it easier to understand.
Breeding effects will bring attribute increases.
So while horse A will gain up to 6 bonuses to its attributes through breeding, horse B won't get any of these.
Breeding quality can only go up through breeding. The higher the quality, the higher potential randomly generated breeding effects in the process. So the aforementioned bonuses can get bigger the higher the quality.
And on top of that, as you know already, more and more training points are needed after each attribute level-up. Breeding will have decreased the training costs for horse A, whereas you have to collect more training points for horse B to get to the same attribute levels.
Also, horse A is a better parent than horse B could ever be, because horse A can pass on breeding effects and breeding quality to the foal, on top of the breeding value and breeding slots that would come with horse B as the foal's parent.
Phew, it's actually harder to explain than it will look once the feature is ingame. So many terms.
Cheers,
Steffi
Thanks again for explaining, it seems pretty straightforward.

" blah blah blah complicated complicated complicated blah blah blah blah"
don't get me wrong, I'm ok with that though^
but one important thing is still missing:
what do we even get after doing all that?!!!! still can't see what's the prize or the point even for doing so much for the horses anyway.
Exactly my thought too.. I want to keep the horse I've put down so much effort in! It's only when the stable is full I will consider sell one or more of them.
And also. How will this benefit my main farms?
if you breed a good foal, you would want to breed more with same parents

This this this yes.
And seriously, level 100??? Using horseshoes?? That if you can't fill the ship without island fruit, you are lucky if you get 100 horseshoes at a time for training (and not a lot more than that even if you do fill the ship)? And then you lose faaaaaaar more than you win once you reach a certain level - like level 8 (out of 100!!!)...???
And you really expect most players to be able to access the horses to such a level that they can max out in training and then breed more???
Because, you know, logic dictates. More horses = less horseshoes to spend per horse on training. Which means the infinity already spent on training becomes infinity squared, or something, and losses pile up a geometric rate which means even less horseshoes to upgrade stuff...
I mean, am I missing something huge here or is the method of acquiring horseshoes going to be adjusted to account for a greater stable of horses...???
Lots of questions and the answers really aren't clear. Saying there will be a tutorial, fine, *maybe* that will help (we'll see) but what about the concerns that have been raised already...?
P.S. omg muggle I am dying over "virtual horse shagging"...
Hey starsie,
of course, as always, we forward your feedback on the feature, before and after it goes live.
You have to keep in mind, however, that this is supposed to be a feature that takes a while to 'complete'. We don't expect you to have 2 level 100 horses by tomorrow, next week or end of this month even. It will take quite a while to progress and that is intended.
Regards,
Steffi

A serious breeder would never get rid of good breeding horses - especially not stallions unless they get paid enough (I'm talking millions here). Therefor a good and fully trained horse should not only give you a way better foal in potential - you should also get PAID to dispose of it.Anything else is just ridicolous.
Also. If Lester's etc horses always are better than mine - how can I ever win and upgrade? As someone said. As it is now it's almost impossible anyway.
And there's still no answer how this benefits the farms.
I will NOT get another horse until I know it's worth breeding in a correct way. Bredding is okey it takes time, but as it sounds now it's not fair game.
I even think of stopping all this with the horses until everything looks okey.
Suddenly, the update. I didn't know about it. Yes, I could have if I'd looked in here. Whatever. After most of the day not being able to log in, when the update time was finally done I find that the timer hasn't been stopped in the meanwhile, which means I have a boat leaving in two minutes and no way of completing the load. I'm annoyed.
--but say when we're able to get much more horses
shouldn't there be something that indicates what gender the horse is?
cause my horse names are gender-neutral...
(since I wasn't sure if supposed to be male or female)
and I don't wanna get confused later on with which horse is what.
Especially if we gotta breed 'em and all that.
so like maybe around boy horse make the box blue
& a pink box around the girl, or something.
or have it say boyname or girlname next to where we type the name
that way I know to name the boy John instead of Jane ;
and name the girl Leia instead of Han
And so on and so forth and what have you.
what about compensation for those lost horseshoes? if you have so freaking reduced the needed horseshoes for training points to reach lvl 10, shouldn't our original first horse be at much higher level than just remain at lvl 10?!
this is insane... keep getting more disappointed only.
this literally means you have fooled us to waste so many horseshoes on the first horse for NOTHING! take back this useless first lvl 10 horse and give me back my 80000 horseshoes.
Attachment not found.
To me, this "reward" for upgradung the horsestable is not a reward, it's a punishment!
I can easy myself make all that feed my animals need, and the same with humus and fertilizer!
- This means, when I get feed, humus and fertilizer as "reward", I have to choose between 2 options:
1. Let my mill, silo and composter have a rest (more then they already have sometimes), which means they in that time don't drop anything (collectibles, water etc.)
2. Produce overflow so I have to sell with a loose.
Some real rewards would to me be things like collectibles, gold, special seeds to the greenhouse, golden horseshoes and other usefull things.
You can't seem to be able to make up your mind with what and how should be on the farms. Changes are for worse Todays update was a disaster - the game was out for 5 hours. I don't have time to check the forum regularly and it would be a great idea if we could get a notice on the farms - not a few seconds before the upgrade/maintenance starts, but at least a day earlier and saying exactly what time it will start and how long it will take. After today's update I am so behind with everything and won't e able to get enough fertilizer for my orchards ( so fewer cherry cakes and so on and so on).
I do hope that we will get some compensation for the failed upgrade today! Seriously this game is not worth spending any money on.
Has GGS forgotten that KIDS play this game? One could only imagine the disappointment a child would have after anticipating playing with the horses, working their farms up to Level 16 to get the ranch, only to find that it's about as much fun as doing homework.:(
That button scares me.:pinch:
