Is a 4th farm coming?
I don't know about others, but when i heard about the ranch initially, i was thinking it would essentially be a fully interactive farm in itself and there would be many things to do to support it's needs as the other 3 farms do. Thus far, even with the updates of breeding and competition to come, it doesn't look like it's going to pan out to be a fully interactive horse farm to build upon like the other farms unfortunately. We are already competing with computer characters and working with horse training, by simply adding more horses with breeding and being able to compete with real players it just doesn't really add anything. There just isn't enough meat to the concept of game play with the horse ranch to make it interesting to me. There's no crops, stables or production factories to support the needs of the horses and the ranch overall. When i drive past horse farms, i see fenced off property for the horses to roam..just like the other farms have roaming workers, why can't we have land to purchase for the horses so we can visually see them roaming like we do with workers on our other farms?
The island farm is working out to be interesting and it certainly has a lot of potential, but i think as long as it remains as a farm that is here for 30 days and gone for unknown weeks at a time, it kills player interest. There is nothing there to hold on to because it takes away the creativity and vision that comes with ongoing progression and advancement of farm building. That is the fun in a game, taking a empty piece of land and planning and building towards something that will sustain all the farms as a whole as you progress from one farm to another. That is lost with this 30 day concept.
I know for me, i am going to grow very tired of building the same stuff over and over with farm dollars just to obtain shells to buy seeds. It would have been better to fully develop the island and make it permanent with a "high level" requirement to access it, and then allow us to collect shells as we harvest stuff on the island to then buy seeds with to use in the nursery for the ship. I think it would have been far better for the horseshoes to come from a "new event" oppose to the ship. We are so badly in need of new events.
While i think GGS really missed the opportunity to fully flesh out and interconnect the ranch and island to be true additions to our farms, i can only hope a real 4th farm is what they are putting their future efforts into going forward. After all, it was the farms we have now that really made this game take off, i am just not sure why GGS would sway so far from that concept. I remember a ways back GGS said they ditched the original intention of a 4th farm at the time because they thought it would be too much and confuse players, yet all these things you have implemented instead have only ended up offering far less game play quality to what a 4th farm would have offered and has also ended up being far more confusing and tedious with less bang for our time, effort and buck
I know i would much rather have one release a year that involves a new fully functional farm that is integrated like the 3 we have now are oppose to these little side kicks that GGS is putting out.

From the start of the ship last spring, thru the island(a pointless money/gold pit) this past summer, to the greenhouse....all with the ultimate goal of obtaining horse shoes in order to build a horse ranch and.....this is it? Seriously?
An example where they succeeded sort of, was with Certs... Certs came out, we built machines... Done. Bleah again. But now they have come up with a way to make certs (and tools) endlessly useful with new machines. Fixed... in so much as the farms remain entertaining.
I wish I had a solution to the main issue. I do think their next project (hopefully after horses) has some additional potential. That is Co-op vs Co-op missions.... however that's going to work. But it won't solve the "I'm bored with my 3 farms." problem. A problem actually exacerbated by The Island... The Island gives you so many great decos that it makes the others obsolete. Unless someone's goal is to have only Pearls.... its going to fill up a lot of farms faster than they would normally have.

Happy to hear I was not the only one with this idea. ^^
