Critcism: Horse Unprocessed Fertilizer

The iron shoes are used to train; better-trained horses win more competitions; competitions win gold shoes; gold shoes are used to upgrade the three training grounds. So much is clear.
Since training ground upgrades demand the builder for hours at a time, as well as gold shoes (and I really have plenty of things to build and upgrade on my main, gourmet, and flower farms) I'm particularly unmotivated to fool around with horse stuff with no benefit to my farms or my co-op.
Since a round of training takes 4 hours (regardless of iron shoes spent) and the competition-fail cooldown is 3: the single rational strategy is to race each of the three opponents until failure, then go for a round of training. There's nothing to think about.
Each heat, against each opponent, requires 6 clicks, with the same geewhiz chatty narration -- 8 clicks if I want to see the detailed outcome, which tells nothing. So one full pass at the horse is perhaps 6 x 5 = 30 clicks, for a couple of wins and 3 losses; and another dozen clicks, before and after the competitions, for training. That's about as many clicks as a half-hour wildflower mission -- which rewards me, eventually, in tangible farm benefits. My mouse hurts.
First I put several hundred thousand farmdollars (and much time) into the island to get shells to buy greenhouse seeds to get iron shoes to put into this cranky, dull horse. From the horse I get some gold shoes. I do not believe it when I'm told the gold shoes will buy me a ticket to the moon. I don't even get to feed my silo! What does this horse eat, cotton candy?
I used to enjoy The Captain and Tentacle's visits; now we're barely on speaking terms. I have stalled development of my serious farms in order to inflate a lazy brother-in-law's island pipe dreams. Each month I invest; each month he goes bust anyway. I do not even get the dubious pleasure of watching a little moe horse skip along, kicking up a trail of daisies, hearts, and rainbows; the plug just stands there.
No, no, no!
Time for GGS to confess failure, dump the whole decomposing mess, console each careless person with some, dunno, ten bags of fertz; and leave us to our purely agrarian pursuits. From now on, Johnny's on his own.

2014 Nov 10: I've decided that the worst of it is that the ranch upgrades occupy the builder-function. I have way too many upgrades pending on main, gourmet, and flower farms to waste any time on upgrading ranch, too. Let this be another side-upgrade, like the tractor upgrades, that don't interfere with important buildings.

What are we feeding our dogs anyway?
GGS this is a big FAIL!!!!
I like it,its a challenege
Also you can get some awsome things from it,
If you hate it so much, dont unlock it
once farm was unlocked first time....you cant go back....plus they have firmly locked island farm to the horses...i have used well over a million horseshoes on horses and im close to running out and still have plenty more to use...im level 9 on each now and have trained 3 times on each since level 9 and still need another 1800 training points on each so thats at still a lot of horseshoes...4000 horseshoes is what 280 training points so thats still means u kinda have to do island just to fully train horse....yes the horse at moment is boring and a waste of time but until we find out whats next on horse farm im doing it relunctly...yes u think its not costing farm cash but the 30 to 50 million farm dollars pumped into island farm last 2 times each those horseshoes cost a hell of a lot of money
p.s i think a whole new permanent farm, with different animals buildings etc, would get everyone excited again, this is what this game badly needs and is crying out for,im sure your earning are way below what it used to be by selling gold etc !!!!!!and this is a great way to get the hands back in the pockets again !!!!!!!!

So, while I understand the ranch can be somewhat repetitive for high level players, but we work on a lot of things to make it more interesting in this very moment.
But Changnian, you do made me laugh. In some degree I do agree with you completely. It would be good if the horse at least produced some dung for the farms - even the ISland farm as that, as stated in different posts above is very, very costly.
I also suggest that serious deco's like the oasis ALSO follows over to the main farms as a reward when the event is over. Like if you have completed chapter 1.
When on lower levels and not being able to spend gold, you do have a serious struggle to go through t at all.
So:
1) Let our horse produce dung that can be used on any farm (at least). You get some XP each day you train your dog. Why not get some dung for each day you log in and click the horse (feed it with one click as the dog)?
2) Let us get something more than golden shoes for say victory no 10, 20 etc. Why not some farm $? it's NO easy task to get 10 vistories in one discipline. It takes a lot og time and is easily compared to the more serious tasks. And it takes a LOT of training shoes....
3) Let us keep built decos from the Island - at least the oasis.
This is my suggestions.. Comments?
haha..that makes sense..we've been cheated by him for months now..in the end he would just run away with our money and leave us with some seashells..
actually, it seems like we've been doing charity instead of investing our money and helping him doing business..
peace..

True, but you don't dump millions into the other events. Why would anybody who's still growing their main farms want to invest millions into a temporary farm that doesn't make a return on investment. Personally, I don't think the decorations are worth that much. True, the chapter rewards have a higher happiness per square value, but they still aren't worth millions. As for the ones you can buy with seashells...... They are huge and the only one worth getting is the Oasis in my opinion. I'm on level 54 and I refuse to do more than the first two tasks in chapter one and grow peanuts/sardines for now. That way I can at least get back what I invested, plus a few horseshoes, via the ship. I just never fill it up anymore and I can't train my horses as fast as some of you. So what? It's just a game. It is nice that the horse farm is finally giving us better rewards for the tasks, but it's still not giving enough of a return to warrant me dumping more into the islands. Once I've got spare millions lying around, I'll think about it, but it's just not worth it to me now.
But Big Farm IS, if nothing else, a game of decisions based on your available resources, not the least of which is Time On Game (not to be confused with simple time, which passes regardless). The events (small and large) all take a lot of that. So again, it really does come down to each farmer evaluating what is the best use of their resources. I just think the /space issue is important enough to mention (time and again) so that people can, if they want, take advantage of that information if they want.

Edit> Just wanted to add... GGS/BF obviously knows this. This is why the incremental benefits of Happiness/Space have exponential cost increases.
You want a deco no bigger than 5x4? No problem.Vegetable patch... +17 happiness. Cheap at 8,500, and infinitely better than +0 happiness. Got more money? Ice Cream truck. A mere 140,000 for +28 happiness (or net +11)... not nearly as good a deal... you can always switch to gold... Get even better... or if you want to keep paying in farm dollars... Flowering Bushes... +33 for 350,000... or... finally... (And inevitably, in my opinion)... the Sand Fortress (or 2nd viking ship whatever its going to be called)... +68! A HUGE jump in value. Of course the cost is probably 30-50 mil.... but still, less than Gold
