@farmerjohn22 - Yes, Stable Building is not ready to be upgraded as of yet - Latten in his post stated, that stables will be able to hold more horses - we got spots for six horses, what tasks will be needed to get more horses (horseshoes, money?? ) it is not said yet.

The building , which can be upped now (as you training your horse) are the Riding Circle, Riding Area & Jumping - Im planning to race my horse as soon as he finishes his current training, hoping I will get some horseshoes so, while the horse is in training again - another building can be upgrading (and so on) :)

Who are you gonna take on first, MoonionsRule? I myself have a longstanding grudge against that mean old Lester Crowley. Sure would like to leave his horse in the dust! LOL

Is the ration of 10 to 1 an official ratio or a guesstimate?

This is where having a ton of horseshoes becomes a big advantage... leveled up to 5 in endurance in just 4 hours by maxing out the horseshoes allowed. This will come in handy to do a lot of races and gain competition horseshoes.

How many horseshoes did you start with

Gavin, I think that is an estimate... last island farm I demolished everything I could. All that was left standing were things you could not get rid of, like the island bank and original farmhouse. I had about 9 million dollars in island dollars and did not get a million shells when they repossessed my farm. I thought it would be much higher. 10 to 1 is horrible, but I don't even think you get that much.

Hahahahaa @farmerjohn - naaahh, not racing for the grudge , racing to get "competition hooves" lol
and I did - here you go guys !! You can challenge each player George, Lester and Tessa more than one time...till you loose (their level goes up with every challenge, so in the end in order to compete with them again, you need to wait the cool down period 3hrs for each, if you raced each, as I did )
    QBoRCT2.png

Sorry didn't take the screenshots from races - they display after each one, with % for both horses competing and also for Winning - with number of Horseshoes you got rewarded !!!

Now - my little horsie "Havarti" (yes, he is one cheesy stallion) won about 18 times and gathered 109 competition horseshoes !! woohoo !!

    ouCqoUW.png

I will be doing upgrades to the buildings now - and the horse is continuing with his Strength training :)

As farmerJohn said - it is best to train them at max horseshoe value - you can win more races ;)

The ratio I gave is based on reports from other players. I remember one of them was upset that his 1 million island dollars was converted to only 100,000 shells.

Thanks for the screenshot Moonions. Thanks for showing us, now we can see what level they become unbeatable with those stats. That's pretty good to get in that many races with those few upgrades!!

I was upset to farmerjohn!! I pumped a bunch of money in hoping to get lots of shells. I didn't see a breakdown, so I guess there really is no way to tell. I just got a pop up saying "here are your 850,000 shells". Live and learn I guess.

At the end of the island event they give you shells for your island dollars and buildings.

No probs Angie - I'm pondering now, that the Horse Ranch has a very similar principle to Garage - Horse races are very similar to missions, if I may say.
Indeed I did only two upgrades one was for Endurance - the first one (and that was the cheap 20 horseshoes one) and Agility, which is on higher level due to max horseshoe price (4,000 horseshoes max amount) - that upgraded my horse to lvl5 in one 4hrs period (I say good deal, and will be doing that from now on).

Since each training upgrade takes 4hrs, and race cooling period is 3hrs , you got nothing to loose & try to race your horse, see what happens & how many hooves you get.
This way when your horse is training - you can be also upgrading his other training grounds ;)

I thought that island dollars would produce a lot of shells, like the player you mentioned. I was just hoping the return would be much better for island dollars than it was.

The suggestion for a strategy of just pumping cash into the bank to get shells was not mine, but was suggested by Goodfella in the form of a question to Latten.

No - the exchange for Island dollars is "poor" and there is a reason behind it ;)
I could be sitting doing nothing, on the island with maybe one house, one orchard & two fields, but in meantime, I could pump-up a lot of cash transfers, right?
So the payout for doing nothing - can NOT be equal or better, than the payout you get from the actual produce you have to spend time & island money on ;) it's not a trick = it's common sense

as of right now i do not expect to get back anything from the island farm when it is gone, i am continuously producing grapes because that is all i habvew left that i can doi, i still have 1 mill in the bank and am building a house again tadd fields, i hope to get more than i would if i just let it go

I guess I had no common sense as I put a bunch o cash into island dollars.... Being the first time and not knowing exchange rates I took a chance, and now know better. I am literally just putting in enough to run things for the last few days of the event :)

Now, I have a question about the horse farm. I raced several times. They is a message that says a tournament is in progress. You can press a skip button. Does the skip feature have any meaning? I pressed it. It seems to have no impact on anything other than moving you to the next screen.

if it is like any of the other features on big farm, it costs gold, anyone know if i am correct?

@Angie - no worries, we all were talking about different strategies for the Island & it did seem at first, like a good idea to send whole bunch of cash - nods.... after the first Island we all found out, that the demo of buildings, does not pay well in shells unless the buildings are max level or lvl3, and money left in Island bank has a crappy exchange :/
We also found , that the ratio was less than 1: 10 for exchange of Island dollars to shells , it almost seemed like the more Island dollars you had in bank, the smaller the ratio was becoming.
So yes - Im likewise now, sending money to Island just enough to sustain the production on structures - I will be making drinks in bar till, last hour I figured it will pay more, than doing demo ;)

if you look at money back from demo, it is a small fraction than if you just continued production until the end

ok, normally anytime you skip something such as building a house to start a new one immediately, it costs gold, very nice to know

Yes, but this does not. I think it just completes the race, but it seems like a pointless step. That is why I am looking for some kind of effect.
