Sounds like you are in exactly same place as me. ^^
I have been training using maximum horseshoes, and my horse is at 9/9/8 currently. However, with the heavy losses that come after about level 8, and the resulting slow gain in golden horseshoes, my training areas are very close to yours 4/3/3, with 215 golden shoes on hand.
Could this be due to the unorthodox training methods used by GGS? Hard to believe the "intensive" stationary exercises are not the best way to train.
Upgraded to level 3. Now it's SO expensive forget it.
Was winning gold horseshoes easy. Now I can't win anything. No clue why. No clue if it's costing me anything to even try.
Can't seem to train either. And WHY does it take the same amount of time when I was able to slide the bar all the way to the right, or now I can barely push it a half inch over and run out of resources. Same amount of time???? WTH?
SO my horsie does nothing. Swell. It's so rare I can send the ship off full, building up any kind of resources seems impossible.
And so the horse ranch seems to be just another one of those things I have to ignore.
As a suggestion, I'd say lets NOT make us start over every time. Once stuff is upgraded, why can't we return the next time and have the place be as we left it? We would still have tasks to finish. Those could get tougher based on the levels of stuff.
Otherwise, I might give this ONE more go around, thinking by then the horse might do something other than stand there stupidly. But after that? Unless there is one heck of a reward, it's hardly worth it.
I am consistently losing 3 events a row, sometimes consecutively, I have spent 24000 horse shoes and might as well run the races myself for all the good the training does for my nag

Please read the thread, it's the same for all of us.
That's "good" to know, I couldn't win from 5 onwards and I had used to only train the max of blue points; now I move into the orange to the full max, and still no change. Seems I would have gotten further wasting it all full out, but only level-wise, not much upgrade-wise.
Future updates to the horse ranch will give us things for our regular farms, but for now we can only play around with it. We are still looking for the Gold star points and what they will do.
Some studies have shown that a strength and conditioning system built on constantly varied, functional movements executed at high intensity provides the best results for health and fitness.
Notes: I have won enough golden competition shoes to get the horseranch buildings to level 3 each while my horse is at breed #5 & am now competing against the other horses that have various breed values, & 13, 13, & 12 experience levels. Once my horse got to breed 5, now I am tending to win only 2 of the competitions each day, and sometimes completely lose. My horse is at 5 str, 6 endurance, & 5 agility skill levels, and I am NOT doing max training.
I didn't have so many horseshoes to begin with. The first time I trained my endurance to 5 at once, then my str to 4 at once, then my agility to 3 at once, then after that I've been training only 1 level at a time, & I wait to get enough horse shoes to train 1 full level at a time.
Not sure, but, from what I've read here, it seems one can achieve nearly the same number of golden competition shoes with lower levels of starting horseshoes and training so far. It seems it is better to just train 1 level or less at a time. The results are more random than they should be.
Aren't the gold star points just what you have to collect to get to the next training level?

It doesn`t sound like you are doing anything wrong Mark. You are just moving up to the next level each time. The number in the star should be getting higher. ^^
Look the number inside the yellow star, It shoud be higer than before the training. You needed 1 point to reach next level. After training your reached next level and now you need 11 more points to level up again.

Remember when the new gourmet farm came out? And what we did was at a LOSS? Because no one at GGS could buy a three dollar calculator?
So now we have a horse farm. WIth no training and only the basic dirt fields, we win everything over and over.
But... the more training we give the horse, and the more upgraded the arenas, the worse he does.
Isn't that backwards????? Wouldnt an Untrained horse on poor quality arenas only rarely win anything? And the more he's trained the better he does? Upgrades get more and more expensive, so winning needs to be more frequent.
But in true form, the designers here got this whole basic concept backwards.
Training is so expensive now I can barely move the bar (and it takes the same amount of time to train???)
My arenas will stop at level 3 because I can't seem to win anything and now I need over 200 gold starts to upgrade.
So.... the whole thing is a snooze. I'm just glad it's off to the side and easy to ignore.
But what a let down. I was really looking forward to this. What we got is confusing, and dumb.
And now we all need to wait for "upgrades?"

Ifyou are going to comment on something negatively, I for one would appreciate itif you would think about it first and be responsible enough to read ALL theposts in this thread, especially Latten’s comments that answer many questionsthat are being repeated over and over, and read all the Official announcementsand use some common sense! I’m NOTsaying that this applies to everyone at all, I know a lot of you have readeverything.
GGS at least has a good feature on the Forumwhere you can click to view the last unread post and the scroll through andread all the new ones from that point on. Just as with the Island, I am seeing the same things posted negatively overand over, the same questions over and over, when they have been answered by GGSalready!!!! Come on, give GGS a chancehere!!! New computer programmingfrequently has problems when rolling out something new. It’s part of the business and it happens toeveryone, no matter how careful they have been or how much testing has beendone in the past, gee it even happened to Microsoft in the past!!! I’ve worked aroundand taught people about computers and I know how it can be!
I was VERY HAPPY to see that GGS WAS bringing the Horse Ranch outslowly!! There is a lot to it and we certainlydon’t want the problems that we had with the first Island Event OR a disasterthat caused the rollback again!!!!
I also was VERY HAPPY to see GGS stop and fix all the little bugs on theHorse Ranch and elsewhere that they could this week and NOT bring out morehorse ranch things yet!
Latten has also said that the tiny print problem in the chat is known byGGS and will be fixed with the update next week. That is good to know!! J Thank You Again Latten!
So, I recommend that you go slowly, look around, get the idea, maybe trysomething small to see how it works and then STOP and WAIT for the next update. Don’t spend all your horseshoes on it yet, thisis only an introduction!!!
I also want to thank those of you who havemillions of horseshoes (I have no idea how you go so many, but then I can’t affordgold on a very tight fixed income) for “testing” this Introduction and bringingup the concerns that they have found to GGS. But how about doing just that, bringing up concerns to try to help GGS,and save your negativity and “complaints” for when the Horse Ranch is all here. IMO this will help players stay in thegame. I’m sure that GGS will do addedtesting, etc. on the next part to come out. Let’s be a TEAM to help this game!!! Part of this game IS BEING PATIENT!!! Maybe Latten could make a listing at the topof the discussion page answering the most important questions, so they areeasier to find. For someone looking atthe forum for the first time, 400+ posts is a lot to read through too.
Forexample, you know, when I read posts about the Island being destroyed at theend of 30 days for the 200th + time, it really makes me wonder ifthey have read anything about it before complaining! This has always been the plan since it cameout, but there are still those asking that same question!! Just please thinkabout it! I’d sure like to see somepositive comments on this forum!!!
