Main farm level 4 field vs level 3 field crop yield

Sunday night 9/28, I completed a side task on the main farm, to upgrade 1 field from level 3 to level 4, for the price of $120,000 and 10.5 hrs build time (taking 2 add'l workers). Reward for this was 30 XP pts. After the upgrade, I sowed regular cabbage seed, and it only produced 1 extra cabbage unit (yes, 50 instead of 49). I felt this cannot be a joke especially after 10.5 hours to upgrade! Tried wildflowers, same amt produced 17 vs 17 in level 3. Now, doing a test with wheat, and level 4 field is producing 90 wheat instead of 70. I'm glad I didn't upgrade more than the 1 field that was asked for in the task.

Have other farmers experenced the same result, finding that upgrade ony made a difference in wheat production? I have not tried putting humus down yet to see what happens with any increase, will try that another day when I have extra humus to spare.

Edit: just added humus, increased the wheat from 90 to 135. But I'm still wondering why only 1 extra unit cabbage right after upgrading the field. Will try it again and find out if it's any different, still stingy on the cabbage or not.

You do know, that you can se the yield on every level if you use the blue info button?
Then you know the change in yield before you decide if you want to upgrade or not :)

    @ Boffe3

Thank you, you just taught me something new (and I'm at level 38 now). I just tried clicking on the blue icon that is paired with the little house (the icon on the right for product information), and it does show the yield info. And yes, they are stingy on the cabbage!

You can always click on a field or any building, go to the info button & the product information tab, where you will see exactly what to expect & you can scroll the different levels to compare the differences.

Having said that, you are not taking into account production time. For example you will indeed now get 1 Wildflower, but that is 1 every 2 mins, which is 30 per hour, whereas Wheat has an extra 20 over 6 hours which is only 3.333 extra per hour.... Making Wheat the worst increase not the best.

Thank you more info. It was a revelation to find out the product info had available details we could see for future upgrades. I think I better start writing my spreadsheet on the fields to keep track.

I appreciate both you and Boffe helping out here.
